When we bought our trailer, I originally felt the same, but ended up getting a single axle due to tow vehicle capacity. I've added TPMS to the trailer, so I feel it's safe. It will alert me to any pressure or temperature changes. It's already helped me prevent a blowout when I noticed the tires were overheating due to overinflation, and it should give me an immediate warning should I get a flat. All in all, I'm comfortable with the single axle now.
What's unsafe about a single axle? If it's heavy enough to need 2 axles, then if there is a failure on one, you can't tow it with just the other axle because it's overloaded. If it has dual axles where either can handle the total weight of the trailer, then it's going to have a very rough ride because the axles won't properly compress to absorb shock with the very light load, leading to jarring the trailer over bumps. Furthermore, with dual axle trailers, it's very common if you hit road debris on one side, to just blow out both tires on that side, thus you are still stranded because you've only got one spare. If redundancy is important, buy a trailer with a much heavier duty style suspension system, such as a trailing arm style with coil springs. Also carry extra spare tires and learn how to use a tire plug kit.
I did not see an electric outlet on the counter top locations ? I NEED my electric coffee pot ! 8 ) Don't want to have to string an extension cord . Sweet little trailers over all !
Yes the Scamp16' has plugs on the side of the kitchen. They are behind the dinette cushion. Well positioned for a coffeemaker or toaster 😀 Thanks for watching!
Update the interior! I'm preaching to the choir, as my green laminate counter tops and dirty grouted tiles scream for much the same, as do my reddish oak floors.
I was confused by the website: Why didn they listed water capacity which was most imporatnt. I also wanted to know what kind of toilet offered. Was there an air conditioner? Solar hookup? To me the bunk bed was a waste. GD family should buy a bigger trailer.
Scamp builds to order so you can build your own floor plan and request any features you want. The Scamp 16' has a roof top AC. Their website is not the most complete but they welcome anyone to call them with any questions. Thanks for watching!
As fiberglass, lightweight trailers go, Scamp is the least expensive one we have seen so far. Keep in mind that they build to custom order, so the price varies depending on the options/features you choose, making it more flexible to your needs. Thanks for watching!
For 2024 the Scamp has an optional composite floor and for 2025 is standard. Also, you can check out our Casita walkthrough video 😀 Thanks for watching!
I have always loved the Scamp concept, but the horribly inadequate fresh water and black tank capacities make camping off grid for more than a day or two impossible☹️
I year frame warranty, yeah I know that’s the industry standard, but your pricing a 16 foot trailer in the 25-30 foot price range, supposedly because the Scamp will last so long. If they truly believe that, they should offer a longer warranty.
I'd agree with you that a longer warranty would be great. You're paying a premium for fiberglass, lightweight trailer that will last a lifetime and hold its value. Thanks for watching!
Scamp has to get with the times a 12volt compressor Fridge / freezer and remove the roof mounted air conditioner, cause it is more about airo than weight as more people are getting EV's and this is the trend! OK Scamp when will we have this new model?
Dayton mentions the price in the video. For the Scamp 16' it runs between 24k to 33k or higher because they're built to order and the exact price depends on the options you pick. Scamp website shows prices for what they have in stock in the "Available Now" section. Thanks for watching!
Looks like a great value! Thank you for the tour.
It really is! Thanks for watching!
Scamp, plz make a dual axel version for safety.
Thanks for watching!

I totally understand your feelings I feel the same way. I've had a tire blowout "it was a new tire" at 65 MPH and it wasn't fun.
I wish Scamp made a double axle trailer.
As lightweight, with single axle these are very stable trailers on the road. Thanks for watching!

Wish they had bigger beds. Casita with their independence is offering two large twins which is nice.
Thanks for watching!
I totally agree with you!
1100 miles just for us.. Wow.. that deserve's a susbscribe !!
Glad you're enjoying it 😀 Thanks for watching!
WOW!

I’d also love to see at least two years!
“These are our optional wheels” 😂
Lol 😀 Thanks for watching!
Update the interior! I'm preaching to the choir, as my green laminate counter tops and dirty grouted tiles scream for much the same, as do my reddish oak floors.
Lol Thanks for watching!
Cool 16 ft.
Glad you enjoyed it 😀 Thanks for watching!
I will take everything on my burger:)
Lol 😀 Thanks for watching!
Is the SNAP ON TOOL LOGO an optional feature
😂
Do these trailers have brakes?
Yes they come with brakes. Thanks for watching!
My 1994 - build house has the same Delta faucet handles!
Did ya get a deal on those OR NO?
😂
did you do a vid for the 19 foot model?
I will be posting a video of the Scamp19' model in the near future, so stay tuned. Thanks for watching!
Please make a twin bed model!!!!
That would be a good option to have! Thanks for watching!

I don't understand why they have to cost so so much. Nobody I know could afford one. Why can't scamp make a cheap version???
As fiberglass, lightweight trailers go, Scamp is the least expensive one we have seen so far. Keep in mind that they build to custom order, so the price varies depending on the options/features you choose, making it more flexible to your needs. Thanks for watching!
They just introduced a Lite 13’ version under $15k.
The top bunk only holds 150lbs? My teenagers couldn't use the bunks then.
Unfortunately, the top bunk is meant more for children. Thanks for watching!
Now we need you to make a visit to see the casita ;) Like the scamp but it has a enclosed fibreglass bottom. Much more rodent proof
True, most small, lightweight trailers come with small tanks which make off grid more challenging. Thanks for watching!

With Inflation a Camp trailer is now the price of a house.
Thanks for watching!
Not these their more like a brand new car
😩😭😭😭😭😭😭 we have not in FRANCE....🤬🤬🤬😡😡🥶🥶😱😱 I LOVE THIS CAMPER TRAIL....👏👍🇫🇷🫡
Bonjour France 😀 Thanks for watching!

Scamp custom builds to your needs, so you could request for whichever options/features suits you best. Thanks for watching!
One year warranty on frame, that doesn't sound like they are very confident in it.
It’s a common warranty in the industry. Thanks for watching!
@DayHikerFromTheSix That's why the industry isn't doing well.
Looks cheap inside. Faucet, cabinets don't stay opened.
None of the materials used in this trailer are cheap built, that's why these last many many years. Thanks for watching!
I was going to buy, but no price Anywhere!!! 😮
Dayton mentions the price in the video. For the Scamp 16' it runs between 24k to 33k or higher because they're built to order and the exact price depends on the options you pick. Scamp website shows prices for what they have in stock in the "Available Now" section. Thanks for watching!
Scamp needs better strategy. It also won’t cost much.
Less customization to lower cost
Update interior design, looks old
Scamp's rustic interior design is their signature style. However, it would be nice to see them upgrade to more modern colours. Thanks for watching!
40k really 40k oh well not me !
Thanks for watching!
Too expensive
Thanks for watching!
They have greatly increased in price!
