Something I envy about being a mentalist is knowing that the individual ACTUALLY was thinking about your forced idea, but switch up their answer and quickly saying "NO" just to make you wrong on your own trick. Like admit it, you KNEW you were thinking about it lol!

Subliminal messaging comes out of priming research. There's currently a big problem with that body if knowledge because many major findings haven't been replicated in other labs. The truth is likely that some people who are movie buffs will be more likely than not to pick Tom Hanks when using all these tricks, but I don't know actors by name, so if you asked me that question I would probably say Queen Latifah because she's the only person I know by name.
Very true, it can only register through people who have a basic knowledge in the subject your trying to conjure up in their head

You'd have to know your audience for this. The only one of those movies that I've ever seen is Toy Story. Tom Hanks may very well have been the last person that I'd have ever thought about. For the record, I thought of Britney Spears
You wouldn't. Like, you need to be able to determine if they might have watched it, at least. True it won't work with all people, especially those of different age etc. But there are still ways to find out what one is thinking about (like Keith Barry and Derren Brown do.) Not sure how they do it, but I assume it has to do with micro expressions.
