I love Baldi's Basics and it's "CGI on a budget of 2 dollars and an Arby's gyro" aesthetic so this is nice to see
i don't understand why Baldi gets so much hate. it seems so self explanatory yet people misunderstand it's motive as an indie game so much
People hate on Baldi’s Basics because it is a popular game among children. Children can often be quite immature, and can inject a lot of cringe into a fan base. But the thing is, I’m not complaining. Baldi’s Basics is one of the only 100% family friendly horror games out there. It has no blood, no excessive violence, or anything of that nature. Not to mention, the colors are very bright and would attract kids. I kind of think it was intentional through, and that Baldi’s Basics was always supposed to be a game that is enjoyed by kids and adults.
@tolstartheking people think it was made as another cash grab indie horror title but it was a game jam game made as a joke and that's what I mean by people misunderstanding it

Baldi’s Basics Plus in isolation is great, because it’s more of a survival game than a horror game.
@tolstarthekingIt was almost like a satire of old edutainment games, like the one who inspired the game in the first place: Sonic Schoolhouse. So the "childish" aesthetic is intentional to look like one of those games.
Dude one reason I really like Baldi’s Basics is because most indie horror games back then ( and still now ) has like deep complicated lore.
But not Baldi’s Basics, and even the sprinkle bit of lore in there it was mostly jokes.
Plus will have story, but I don’t expect it to be the main focus.
It isn’t a horror game, it’s even scarier! It’s a spoopy game!
@@thdbfjc the funny thing is that it does this one thing really well, it's "unintentionally scary", and in that way, it feels more genuine.
the best part is that the only character who has "lore" constantly calls out other indie horror stereotypes and after you kill him, he disappears from the game and every "scary" or "lore" related aspect is removed

The only thing I could see for a Baldi series would be just an episodic joke series that doesn’t try to have some crazy overarching story and is just something to watch for a good laugh, kinda like Gumball (minus the story stuff they started for like seasons 4 and 5)

I remember Micah once saying ToeJam & Earl was also a huge inspiration for the procedurally generated levels. That game deserves more appreciation for being ahead of its time in how it's programming worked, I'm glad something similar survives in Baldi

The setting deadlines thing reminded me of something I saw years ago.
Two creators who shall remain nameless as one has moved onto other projects announced ~2007 a huge crossover for their fanshows with a release date of Summer 2008. The project was never completed, with an unfinished segment uploaded in 2017 and one of the creators leaving the community around the same time.

42:56 Yeah, working on the main game your developing and also coming up with new ideas for a whole separate different project for a different game at the same time can be infuriating lol 😅. I have actually quit remaking Baldi's Basics into Minecraft (I uploaded a teaser in that on my channel) for my friends and family to play on it, and I also made my OWN game inside Minecraft. Like I had created my very OWN horror map that had been inspired to have similar mechanics like Baldi's Basics, and I might share it on the internet, but that's not the point. My tip is to have a journal for each project, basically like the concept art of characters, themes, mechanics, etc. Each journal should really clear out the stress about having and planning out various projects at the same time, 42:56 been there lol
mystman12 is really good at making things that feel nostalgic because he was into the things that are now considered nostalgic, and so his entire personality just shows that.

Hearing that there won’t be a Baldi movie, I’m in support of that. I think Baldi just wouldn’t work as a movie, for many reasons. Y’know, some things only really work in certain mediums, and Baldi’s Basics only really works as a video game.

29:38 me and a friend of mine (cheatexp) worked together to find what this was. it's a really freaky screen that starts with "YOU ARE DOOMED" and then a bunch of rainbow colored "HELP"s before revealing a rotten face that's flashing colors with "CMOSDEAD" written over and over in a background that keeps on getting written over in red. it's really weird why is this in a game about a floating baby head i love mystman's games

Honestly, while I know the final game of Plus will probably lean much more heavily into the horror elements, I personally don’t have much interest in the horror stuff. I’m a big fan of the strange oddball artstyle and quality stealth roguelike gameplay. Of course, the more unsettling elements of the way the characters act, like Baldi’s sudden tone change when the round begins, Mrs. Pomp’s rage when you’re late, and Dr. Reflex trying to whack you with his hammer when you ignore him kinda are part of that “weird oddball style” I mentioned, but they’re not the main focus of it. Basically, what the game’s doing now, I’m personally a big fan of. I’m not that into the horror stuff, but the game’s unique and honestly charming style and strong gameplay are what really does it for me.
But that’s just me.

This really goes to show how even big industry names won't conduct research on who they're doing interviews with. Literally they never do, they do podcasts and interviews for PR cuz its interactive with their fanbase while not being parasocial, 100% that and nothing else. Because if any of these creators saw Veronica's first personal RUclips video, they'd either walk the hell away from any of this or continue it anyways because they are also secret serial cheaters and mass manipulators in disguise lmao. He constantly lashes out on his viewers and he refuses to take care of himself mentally and phisically. He literally mocked people for caring about his diminished mental health.
He’ll try to convince you it’s his trolls that ruin him (and will always point to one and not all of them for some reason), but I know from experience the majority of the time it is himself that makes the streams a pain. (Watched him for 6+ years, i’ve seen it in real time. Had to stop watching him because it’s such a toxic environment) and he always acts like the viewers are in the wrong for getting unnerved and uncomfortable every time he starts screaming at the top of his lungs (to the point the chat goes completely silent because he bans people for differing opinions).
Though, I completely understand your point in bringing that up in the conversation.
