I'm an American who first saw Mr. Cooper on Public TV here in New York in the 70's and I never forgot it. He was one of the first people I sought after here on you tube. I think it only fitting that someone who can make the world laugh (honestly out loud) should have a statue in his place of birth. God bless you Tommy and "Thank You Very Much".
Anthony Hopkins learnt magic for his film of the same name....he’s a huge Cooper fan and I believe he did the overdubbing for the famous Lego advert featuring the elephant and mouse joke as Cooper was unavailable
I heard about Tommy Cooper about two months ago and after seeing his comedy - my god, what a brilliant comedian he was and a great magician as well! He was totally in his own class!
Tommy Cooper was a great magician and genius he deserves a STATUE of him we will always miss him he was and still is a Legend and a genius and a great magician and I know Tommy will be making every one laugh in Heaven RIP Tommy
Great occasion in many ways! Thanks! Well done all of you ! Always nice to see Sir Tommy's so funny TV shows and other speeches and Sir Anthony's brilliant state of the art movies in all genres. 2 masters in different ways. Love rules 🤗 thank God
Lovely footage, As well as his fabulous TC impersonation...Sir Anthony mentions many of our classic British comedy acts and obviously appreciates their influence on his early life in Wales. Not taking oneself too serious is always an endearing trait...Sir Anthony and Tommy both share that same characteristic
I am angry! I drove thru Cearphilly have da dozend times, and did not even know about the statue. Allthough i admired Tommy Cooper from the beginnig! So I didnt stop there. What a pitty! RIP Tommy, but great that there is that statue, who ever sees that could be inspired to notice and love that fellow, enjoy on the one hand and see his sad, much to short live on the other. THX for posting this and thumbs up!
it puts a smile on your face to see that Tommy was the best at a lot of things, he was a fine actor, a genius and magician and a fantastic prankster, try and find the video when he walks on the stage with a pile of plates its genius!
Come on - he was three when he left...You can hardly blame him for not feeling so close to the place...And you have to remember that it was thepeople of Caerphilly who keep promting the connection with Cooper's birthplace.
It's sad to see so many unenlightened people. Understandably Hopkins has an afinitey for Cooper being a fellow alcoholic..Maybe this was a gathering of alcoholic idolising one of their own..
You confused the words "worst" and "best." No one on earth could actually think a man with 6 Oscar nominations, including one win, 9 BAFTA nominations and 3 wins, and 5 Emmy nominations and 2 wins, plus an Olivier Award for the theatre, is the world's worst actor, so obviously you must have just mistyped...
Tony's a good pal of mine and we've often met up around town [my town's, London] gone for a coffee, a chat and swapped Tommy impressions. I swear if you closed your eyes you'd state under oath you were in the company of the great man himself, Tommy Cooper. A super statue of a very, very funny man.
Sir Anthony's impersonation of the great man was first-class. A well-deserved tribute.
What a surprise .Sir Anthony is a very good impersonater perhaps the best i have seen of Tommy cooper.
I was there .... and the take off Sir Anthony did of Tommy was brill.
A fitting tribute to a great comic.

My home town! Tommy was a very tall man and must've towered over everyone he met. Now he towers over the Caerphilly shoppers.
Beautiful tribute to a beautiful man!
TC....Could make you smile and laugh without saying a word. And when the tricks went wrong, hilarious.
Great occasion in many ways! Thanks! Well done all of you !

Wonderful I.know I’m 15 years late saying this but anyway it was great to watch this Anthony you really sound like him😅
A great tribute to a funny wonderful man
Never knew Cooper was a Taffy.
One of the Greatest of all time. Just had to look at him and I howled with laughter.

Caerphilly Tommy's birthplace!!
I would like Frank Dobson a lot more if he sounded like Tommy Cooper...

the comics of today are seriously shite compared to the greats like tommy.

farrellhunter I get the impression that you're not a party animal.
farrellhunter ✊🏼 💦
Such a shame that the people of Caerphilly chose to celebrate the life of the world's greatest comedian by inviting the world's worst actor!
Tony Gibbon Remains of the Day? Mr Stevens is perfectly played.
Shut up, you moron....

Three cheers for Caerphilly and its inhabitants, Tommy Cooper and his statue, and Tony and his Stella!
