- What are the best villages to live in Wales? Living as some people are doing, in any part of the United Kingdom has already insulated you from certain challenges in some terrible parts of the world. This is important to be borne in mind for anyone living in any of the villages in the country. For reasons bordering on peace and tranquility, some of our lovers love living in Wales. However, it’s puzzling to some that these people are not particularly focusing on cities like Cardiff. Rather, they love villages in Wales. Are there villages you too might love to consider as a home in Wales? We are affirmative in our answer, and we have proofs for this in this video about the 10 best villages to live in Wales.
10. St Fagans, Cardiff
We begin with St Fagans, an affluent village on the outskirts of the city of Cardiff known for St Fagans Castle. It’s a picturesque village where you can discover the depth of richness of Welsh history and culture, taking you on a trip back in time to the Wales of old. St Fagans is just a short jaunt from the hubbub of the capital. It’s just about a 20-minute drive down the A roads right from the heart of Cardiff. You’re certain to have a hint of Welsh heritage through the ages and enjoy a recreation of a 19th-century mining terrace.
9. Solva, Pembrokeshire
Next is Solva, a lovely fishing village in Pembrokeshire. Living in this pint-sized village, you can simply walk and wander on the coast north of St Bride’s Bay. As the tide washes in and out, the character of the village takes on different appearances. When the water is high, it’s felt around the quaysides and the pubs. And when it’s low, a muddy estuary is revealed filled with crawling crabs and fishing skiffs.
The village is nice for photos and is a good place for adventure as you take scenic walks around the village. The bracing sea treks are unrivaled as the path wiggles to the east and west. You can also find the hidden sands of Porthmynawyd Beach.
8. Beddgelert, Gwynedd
Beddgelert is the first of the villages in Gwynedd to be mentioned here. Located in the northwest county of Gwynedd at the point of convergence of the Colwan and Glaslyn rivers, Beddgelert’s idyllic setting gives you a taste of what living in a charming scene is all about. Your days and those of your visitors would be filled with the desire for selfies as you take a walk, hike, or engage in other outdoor activities on mountains and other stunning views as part of your daily activities. You can even get to see the central place in the famous folklore legend of Gelert the dog.
7. Portmeirion, Gwynedd
If you are ever grateful to the British architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, the curious creator of this village, you would love Portmeirion as one of the nicest villages to live in Wales. This Gwynedd village of follies and odes was forged to highlight all sorts of architectural styles in the heart of the borough between 1925 and the 1970s. At the village’s central piazza, there are Italianate mansions mingling with gothic towers and European baroque façades. Not far from there are arboretums of palm trees and pines.

You can’t live in Portmeirion. It’s a hotel.
Great choices, although one minor point - the monestary featured in the St Dogmeals entry is on Caldey Island, Tenby, on the southern coast of the county.
Beautiful, thank you - I've been to St John - took only a few - where can I see more please?
You'd think the narrator would learn the Welsh pronunciation for the places he mentions, his English is not so good either and his geography is way out of date! Caernaronshire???
Dreadful pronouncing of names and Swansea is not a county, Glamorgan is the county
As someone who lives near Tintern I'm not too shocked that it made the list
Please learn some basic Welsh pronunciation! The -dd at the end of Gwynedd and in Beddgelert does not have an English -d sound, rather it is more like -th as in thanks. Likewise, you make Betws y Coed sound like a Chinese takeway! It is like Bae-toose a Coy'd, not betoosy co-ed! And the single f in Aberdyfi sounds like an English v, not an f - which would be ff! And, irrespective of the language being spoken, the emphasis is generally always on the penultimate syllable!
Well. He’s English and we all know what they’re like. 🏴
The pictures of the monastery at the end are on Caldey Island, not in the village. You can visit it by boat trip but is mostly inhabited by monks.

Congratulations, on your fairly accurate pronunciation of Solva and Rhosili. However, I must also congratulate you on your ability to completely mispronounce the other 9 locations. Aberdyfi was was my personal favourite. I never knew it was possible to butcher 4 syllables in so many outrageous ways.
How do you pronounce merthyr tidfil ? .my dad came from here .
Sorry, but I had to leave at the first village, when he pronounced St Fagans like Fagin in Oliver Twist. This told me it was not a serious video, but I may go back and view some more, when I need a laugh. 😂
Could u please recommend the reasonable price to live near by Bangor (can b village area and with 1 hour travel )
This is what happens when chat gpt and text to speech AI have babies
you cant live in portmeirion its a tourist village
Bit of a rushed job this. Some of the villages aren't villages plus some of the photos are not belonging to the correct places. Overall pretty poor effort where it could have been a lot better
How is Manorbier not on this?
Wales how much does it cost to live in one of these places ?
Places in Penllyn wernt mentioned 😭 Abersoch, Nefyn, Aberdaron, Llanbedrog 🙈 and nowhere in Anglesey!!
Good choices but terrible pronunciation of names. Thank you for sharing. Diolch
Swansea was suggested by a friend
its weird the way you pronounce St Fagans to the way i do
Wales is bloody lush mun!
Should be, The 10 Best Villages to Live In In Wales.
St Fagans is a museum
I stayed at the Swallow falls hotel a few years ago, it was a nightmare.
The car park filled up with idiots about 2am flying around in crappy hatchbacks and blasting music out, then they broke into the hotel and raided the bar, no staff on site at night ffs 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Good video but terrible place name pronunciations.
Terrible pronunciation
What happend to The Gower ???
4;07 WTF is that? Is it a strange carving?
Every single place was pronounced incorrectly. I am English but have lived in Wales for 30 years. I am offended on behalf of the Welsh people by this inept video!
Hi, where about in Wales do you live ? Summer 2022 was the first time I’ve visited this beautiful Country and fell in love instantly ❤️. Love Pembrokeshire, making plans to move there with my small family.
Some of the narrator's pronunciations are...well, diabolical. A little research on how the place names are pronounced would be appreciated.
Great list but awful pronunciation of the Welsh names
You'd think you'd learn the correct pronunciation if you're going to post a video as if you're an expert...
Grrr, its not pronounced saint fagans, it's st faggons...
Lordy lord.... is he a bot?...
Portmeirion isn't a village it's a hotel and you can't live there, just visit!
Painful pronunciation.
One of the effects of the England's occupation of the United Kingdom is the Irish, Scottish and Welsh languages are absent from international forums. F. NORTHMANS
St Fagans village shown in the video isn't the village - but the museum.🙄
The pronunciation of the Welsh place names in this video is shockingly bad
