I think I may have seen Rory MANY years ago, performing in a small tent at a festival... could have been Glastonbury (so long ago, I can't remember), but he was memorable. I could have fallen in love with him there and then... figured he was probably taken, left the tent and nearly thirty years have gone by and I now think I will always be a little in love with him! : )
A long time ago, I saw this brilliant gentleman in a nearly empty union hall in north London - only a handful of people in the audience and he gave one of the greatest solo concerts I have ever had the good fortune to see. Respect!
Brilliant performer, magical moments! Fabulous song which grabbed me as soon as I heard it on the radio (played by BBC London Danny Baker), and loved ever since. Seen him a few times live but never heard this song done live until this video. THANK YOU!!!
What a pity that this is only live version of this song by Rory on RUclips. He's an amazing songwriter and performer and this is one helluva song. The Bombskare version is pretty damned good as well.
It's a great harp solo performance. While it's hard to understand all the lyrics because most of time he blown' through them into the harp, I'd love to hear from anyone who can pinpoint this song for me.
Free and easy that should be your name She took my lovin for a nursery game well All she gave me was ahard and made of stone Sweet and hollow like a honeycomb Well superstition it brought me bad luck When I got close to a woman she was hidden by makeup Spent her life lookin into the mirror She never cared for nuthin she just cared about figures We need love like a rock in a stormy sea She give me love like a rock so wont you rock with me I met this woman I had lovin in my head No room for anyone else in my bed She.s not good lookin she's got knots in her hair But she's got ways that take her everywhere now Love like a rock etc.

Tries to take you home to grouphouse, but you were awesome enough to have a hotel the night! Love you, still! I’m a multi artist / instrument’s all my life too. 3rd generation from Grand Family. muso too, comedy, life genius/ sub culture etc. I do traditional and appreciate yours and a decade or more later….I’m an Aboriginal/ world race/ Romany Gypsy too… like Irish, Welsh, Scottish. Scottish, French Canadian, Maori ( N. x. Their Dad) okay bye then. Am in Melbs Aus.
He has that effect on everyone! Best live performer I've ever seen

Interestingly, I can't name another UK blues singer who actually sounds like they come from the UK.
