That chain hook is supposed to be bent. I've seen them on some transport chain tie-downs. They don't unhook and fall off the chain as easily as the straight ones.
The hook is bent so that it lays flat and keeps the chain straight when you wrap the chain around a tie down point and grab a link. Very helpful when hauling machinery .
Hey Rudy it took me awhile to start to start following you man but once I did I regret not doing it earlier you're very intelligent when it comes automobiles a great fabricator keep on keepin on
I've seen the steel wool thing done before. It's an old cheapout shortcut they used to sometimes do but I always saw it mixed with the resin they use for fiberglass. Never seen it with spray foam before
i had early 80's F-250 and there was foam i the lower part of the cab put in from FORD and by god it rusted. All the condensated water ended up here and over years it created a lot of rust.
Steel wool helps keep mice out of those areas. That way when the rot holes it promotes begin to open up it helps discourage all but the most determined mice from entering. Patch steel along with spoon and hammer welding is the way to go. Best!
@@Rudysadventureanddesignreal Polished aluminum isn't chrome though. Chromies are chrome over steel. That doesn't mean they don't look good, I just remember when aluminum wheels were virtually unheard of and chromies were an alternative to painted steel.
Love the build!! I've got a 76 F250 I bought in 79. In the early 2000's I pulled the 300 straight 6 it came with and dropped in a 429 thunder jet out of an old T-Bird. She's a runner!!
Be careful with the death wheel, I had one that blew apart 2 weeks ago at work one piece went through the gap between snaps and went in about 2 inches and 2 pieces in my thigh that had to be surgically removed!
I know using grinders without guards is the American way... but I cringe every time I see it in these videos. I have a 2 inch scar on my left wrist where a chunk of a burst wheel went down to the bone. I was incredibly lucky not to take damage to tendons or nerves. I was using a guard - the chunk that hit me was a freak rebound off the tube I was cutting. Hate to think what damage a direct hit could have done.
You need to invest in a kit for your welder and a puller where you weld on rods then use dent puller to pull them out unless you have one already. Makes those hard to hammer out dents come right out.
This is awesome content …those wheels normally wouldn’t thrill me but them along with the tires and the lifted stance of that truck look great. The quickie Cummins rebuild will be fine..probably only run 500,000 more miles.
My 76 is the same. Spent lots of time with patch repair. Grandpa bought it new and I'm the 3rd gen to drive it. My 15 year old boy will be the 4th generation to drive it
Rudy most people would be apprehensive about what you are doing with steering and front end while the engine is its own unit and all you need to do is make sure it lines up with the tranny. You guys work together nicely!
Rudy im so glad to see you guys restoring this old truck your friend is gonna have one killer ford highboy when your done keep up the good work your fab skills are amazing
Foam, poor man's bondo, is used in Minnesota body repair when you traded a case of Grain Belt Premium for the vehicle. Those wheels and Firestones make everything look right. This is going to be one sweet high boy.
Rudy, you and your friends are the best argument Against so called “student load forgiveness”! And, proof that with the right skills, tools and ingenuity one can create and repair anything! While having fun!
I'd be happy to forgive a loan so they can take an OSHA class or three [came back to edit: I spent a decade in the field and had metal grindings removed from my eyeball years later that I never noticed -- have all my fingers and toes, nothing bad ever happened, but I seen the person to the left and to the right of me go down different times, be safe and don't just try to be lucky]
I dunno Rudy, I am tired of black wheels. Polished Alloy or Chrome is so rare it looks great to my eye. I am old , tho. So there is that. The late model Ford wheels will look good on that rig. I can tell ya that ain't the first time I have seen spray foam inside rusty bodywork...seen chicken wire, even a tin can flattened out. Saw a chicken wire and newspaper combo behind bondo once. This was in a 57' Chevy, and the newspaper was from the same era... That is going to be a sweet truck.
Great video 👍🙂 That's going to be one very nice looking truck One tip, if you guys paint it a lighter color, like white, it would show the imperfections/dents on the body a lot less. You could mount/use the bumper of a newer ford and it makes them look really nice. I saw an old bronco w/ a "modern" bumper and it really transform the front end. Keep up the good work 👍
I had a coworker who had a Pontiac minivan and the rockers were completely rotted out as they all did. He used spray foam (lots of spray foam) then shaped and sanded it them painted it. From 20’ (more like 50’) it didn’t look terrible. I’d hate to see it in an accident during one of our really cold winters though.
Nothing better than seeing friends help with your project, but helping in the right way!😂😂
Steel wool and spray foam helps to stop mice and the like from getting into small holes...
That chain hook is supposed to be bent. I've seen them on some transport chain tie-downs. They don't unhook and fall off the chain as easily as the straight ones.
I concur
The chains we used for tieing down equipment in the aircraft have the same hooks.
The hook is bent so that it lays flat and keeps the chain straight when you wrap the chain around a tie down point and grab a link. Very helpful when hauling machinery .
The wheels look better than I expected, pleasantly surprised! That's going to be an awesome truck when it's done! Good job!
That truck has some character to it, that's for sure! Nice that RAD can help Josh and his dad with something that is so important to them!
It's always handy to have friends who like to do the jobs you don't. 👍🏼
In the apartment business that is how to filling around plumbing to keep mice out ,they won't chew thru foam if it's got steel wool in it
So a plumber owned this truck 🤔
Hey Rudy it took me awhile to start to start following you man but once I did I regret not doing it earlier you're very intelligent when it comes automobiles a great fabricator keep on keepin on
Way to go guys glad to see you doing it right give that ole girl some love and she'll last him a life time
I've seen the steel wool thing done before. It's an old cheapout shortcut they used to sometimes do but I always saw it mixed with the resin they use for fiberglass. Never seen it with spray foam before
You are the best plasma cutter I have seen on all the channels I watch.
That’s going to be a great truck when you get it done, Rudy.
Wheels and tires look great...
What’s that open electrical box on the two post lift?
Absotively posilutely fantabulous!

Best!
Black is a good engine color if you expect a lot of oil leaks.
Steak knife always is the best way too cut out foam!
Not the first time I've seen spray foam used like that. Loving this truck build.
Love those chrome wheels!
They sort of look like aluminum don't they?
I think they absolutely fit the look of the truck

Good addition to the truck is the Cummins. I like the wheels on the truck.

Looks like you will need to add crossmember at the steering box for strength!
Cool to see old iron getting back on the trail and y'all make it fun to watch ✓ ps i saw a little critter run into the garage . I have two
Right on!
But I think you're gonna hafta offset the engine a bit to the right to get around the front driveshaft.

Those hooks are military, transport equipment, usually on cargo planes.

Nice to have a circle of friends like this. Good video.

Spray foam holds moisture and will rust from the inside out...
Keep the videos coming Rudy. Looking good.
This thing is mint by midwestern standards.
For sure!!
Don't forget to replace those windows seals, otherwise that rust will continue to rot the cab out
Love the wheels, looks awesome. Great remodel guys
great as always well done
Keep up the amazing work guys love it
When he started burning the spray foam I almost expected to hear Trevor's voice saying "Ruuuuudy"!
lol
Thanks for always the great video's Rudy! love them!
Lol,I think I worked on that truck, expanding foam and some bondo is the quickest way to fill the holes ,perfect.

Old school white wheels
While ya got front of diesel clear ya might want to do the dowel pin fix so ya don’t loose the timing gears- take care
I would hope the guy who rebuilt it would take care of that.
HEY! Good morning Rudy and thumbs UP!!
Great video 👍🙂
That's going to be one very nice looking truck

I "fixed" alot of rust when I was in high school with Sundays paper expanding foam and tiger hair filler.
That truck is going to be sick! Love the stance! 👍👍
Watching your chanel is very entertaining and educational keep up your great work 💯💯🤙
The wheels do look really good.
Nice work guys
That is a military chain. It's bent from the factory they use them to hold tanks down
Rudy is a stud!!!
This truck look good
😂 Rudy you look real good using that grinder and your safety glasses are on top of your head safety first
I can see why Robby threw Rudy’s application away……. Seriously, good video.
Just hit me when Josh’s dad showed up Josh is Lizzy’s brother 🙂
Yup
100% straight up my alley !!! 😊😊😊
Nice work
I thought your string on your hoodie was going to get caught in your grinder.
Was looking to see if anyone else commented. Hoodie string gets caught in grinder, winds up, pulls spinning blade towards neck… maybe?
good job!
Can't wait to see the front axle set up! I am thinking about doing a 2x4 to 4x4 conversion soon and would love to see in detail what you guys create!
I’m within 30 min from Preston!!! So cool!!! Truck is coming together nicely!!
Did you add sleeves between the frame pieces where the steering box bolts onto?
I was thinking "that area needs drain holes" just before Rudy said the same thing.
Good stuff!
"Things have to be precise and you can't use your eyeball anymore" - you have never sounded more like your dad 😂
it a ginger thing. better then everyone 😂. wear safety glasses. you ginger

Guys! Please use eye protection.
Can you make these longer and more often please?
Building a Frummins . Sweet !
Hey hey Rudy!!!
Great job again.
once you start cutting stuff..you're invested in corrective measures. whether you like it or not!!😁
Im so jealous of this build
Rudy would you be interested in some Corvar parts
That is a bend hook came that way
More of this truck build!
Nice work on the Ford.
It makes me miss my old F250.😢
That's called east coast bondo
Best way to but the joints up on those panels is to use a panel crimper first
That hook @ 13:03 is NOT bent, it was made that way, see how it is reinforced on one side.
Need more videos!!
You been spending time with Robbie?
I know you can do it all but body work and grinding and sanding?
I would suggest safety glass when grinding. Great job otherwise.
wish they would wear safety glasses
This episode earned my submission..er..,I mean subscription
Josh needs to wear eye protection when using the grinder and find some better looking wheels.
Tires and wheels are awesome
Thanks Guys
Spray foam fender/ cab corner in a can it works lol its not right but it is cheap.
A Little bit of M.E.K or gasoline and you can dissolve it
i have a few colors that make the truck pop esp th front end , red, superblack, silver, super white
This truck look 😍 with this chrome rims👍🤩
The hook def OSHA approved!
I used a dodge pickup ps box on the outside of the frame
RUDY, Sure hope you beefed up that frame for where you cut away!
