    Been waiting for a video with from you guys. I tried canceling my trip out of respect to the ppl in Maui. But the resort refused to reschedule or refund. So we had no choice but to keep our trip. We don’t want to upset anyone. This is our first time, hopefully we are welcomed.🙏

      It is nice to see how the other islands have sent a lot of love, money, and resources to support Maui. It is easy to feel alone on Maui with this issue, but the whole world is trying to help. The fact that the Maui Strong fund is over $127 million is something!

    I love Maui! Go there every year but I’m still sad about what happened to Lahaina. So many great memories 🥲. Do want to go again by the end of this year but I’m afraid that we might be going back too soon. My favorite part of Maui was west Maui. Kapalua, Napili and of course Lahaina. Do want to support any way we can and go but want to be respectful at the same time

    Look's like Christmas and New Year's in Maui this year. I love the way you have put together the information on how to decide what Island to visit. Jordan must have had some input on that with the A,B,C and D method but hey I got it right off. It also makes it very easy to understand where to do your research and dive right in on your planning although I am still going to get your Itinerary guide to make it easier. I'm glad your family made it through the fires ok and so sad at the same time for all the others who weren't as fortunate and have had loved ones lose their lives, lives turned upside down or drastically altered forever. In everything I read and watch about the great people of Hawaii it always stands out that the people have Heart and love their families, neighbors and their land. It will be our family's first visit to Hawaii and I'm looking forward to visiting your beautiful paradise. I also understand the need to get back to normalcy and keep the economy flowing. Thank you for the awesome videos, information and sharing your family with us.
    Mahalo'

      To get to West Maui, the main route is south through the Central Valley and then up past Lahaina and into Kaanapali (northwest Maui). You won't drive over the north side of West Maui. Check out this video for maps: ruclips.net/video/f0JuYwfNvhM/видео.html

    What night is the hula show in Kihei? I just booked my trip. Sadly the condo was SO expensive but alas, I hope they will put that money back into the community. What is the best way to find lodging that will most directly support the local economy aside from a wealthy hotel chains employing staff?

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  Год назад

      Good question and a tough one. You can look at staying at Bed & Breakfasts and vacation rentals that are in an Ohana unit usually means the owners live on the property. Those are my ideas! I'd love to know of more hotels that are locally owned. Paia Inn and Kula Lodge are locally owned.

    Hi guys, what do you think about Hawaiians (kanakas) on social media who are telling people not to come at all?

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  Год назад +2

      Everyone has a right to their opinions. Their is a vocal minority on social media. The broader Kānaka Maoli community has a policy priority of regenerative tourism, which we follow on our channel and website (set by the community through the visitor destination management plans). Hawaiians have always been the backbone of the tourism industry. As 8 out of 10 dollars on Maui is from tourism, visitors currently help the Kānaka Maoli realize their other priorities, like housing and land restoration. www.hawaiiancouncil.org/policy-center/policy-priorities/ That is my understanding of this complicated issue.

    As much as I love Maui been going there for 30 years, I love the people I love the islands.
    But I just can’t go back to Maui. It’s not because of the people it’s not because of the islands it’s because of the corrupt government who led the massacre in Lahaina.😢
    All those children still not have not been found.
    The governor, FEMA who sat at the Four seasons and the Fairmont, four-star resorts, eating, drinking and celebrating when they should’ve stayed somewhere close to Lahaina not all the way over in Wailea. instead
    at four and five star resorts, shame on them , and the mayor, the chief of police, and all the others will have bad karma come to them, and the Hawaiian, gods and goddesses will make them pay.
    My heart, my family are all so saddened by all the lives that have been taken by the greed of the mighty dollar 😢
