Just watched this again and so much more poignant after Steve Albini's untimely passing. You guys were really truly and genuinely one of his all-time favourites! Memories will live on in the power of these recordings 🙏

I saw MONO when they came to Memphis a few years back, at the time I only heard a few songs and thought they were good but kind of a generic post-rock band (I had only heard Explosions In The Sky, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor at the time so I hadn't really delved deep into the genres amazing potential) but as soon as they walked on stage while playing some of the most epic music out of the P.A. I knew that this was going to be an amazing experience. I said to my friend between songs "Forget what I said about them being a generic post-rock band" (I thought I didn't say it that loudly but my friend said I did and since then I have felt so ashamed of what I said I just hope the band didn't hear me say that). This was the first show that ever brought me to tears (on the first song and at least two other occasions during the show) and to this day I still consider this the greatest live show I have ever witnessed. Unlike most post-rock bands when they go from quiet to loud you can kind of see it coming, but with MONO it takes you completely by surprise and it hits you like a sledgehammer. Thank you MONO, your music truly inspires me. This documentary was wonderful, it was really great getting to hear interviews from Steve Albini (my favorite producer/recording engineer) and even Todd Trainer of Shellac (one of my favorite drummers of one of my favorite bands).

I am from India and have been following them since 2013 when I accidentally discovered them on RUclips. Now when I think about it, they really are pioneers of the genre of post-rock and words cannot describe how much of an emotional impact this band has had on me.

I can't believe I hadn't seen this. Seeing MONO live is definitely one of the most emotional experiences I've ever lived. A few years ago, I traveled to the US from South America just to see them, and not only did I have the time of my life during the concert, but I also got to meet them briefly, and talk to them. Wonderful, amazing people. So, MONO, if you ever read this, know that I will be forever grateful for that night at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago. Thank you, thank you so much for doing what you do.

I saw MONO live more than 10 years ago.... It's unbelievable how much has happened during this decade...
Their show is still one of the brightest memories to have, and their music has some sort of a healing effect.

Steve Albini describing the live performances with Mono as a 4 piece causing the mind to hear a full piece string section is so true! There is no band like Mono live. Incredible compositions and chemistry makes the mind hear what is not there. I am excited for the next 9 albums and tours!

MONO quite simply transcends the very meaning of emotion in music. They make life worth living, and yet prepare us for the eventuality of death.
Thank you. Thank you so much for enriching my life.

I think the filming style adds more character to the documentary, I think the desaturated grainy look kinda emphasises the feeling of the band and their music :)
