We are an older nomadic couple, over that 60 mark lol and we wait for your episodes each week, but the reason for my comment is don't ever feel that you need to explain your choices or why you have made them, you guys are living your best life and that is all that matters. Often people get a little green, when they see people doing well. Now if you lose a few followers because of your choices, don't worry the Toyota fans will soon make up the numbers tenfold. We don't have a Toyota or a titanium but love your adventurers and you have inspired us oldies to go places and push ourselves that bit further, so for that thank you.
I agree with you guys. You don't have to justify your decisions to anyone but yourselves. Ignore the negative noise. It's not worth ruining your day. But thanks for the transparency. 👍
It literally doesn't matter what you do, there will always be those 'know it all nancies' who can't help themselves but to tell you a better way 🙄 you guys just keep doing you, its what we love.
Hey guys regarding your stop start issue as a mechanic the first thing I would be getting checked is that the brake controller has been connected properly, wife also works for a Toyota dealership, not uncommon for the wrong brake signal wire to be used which can cause issues, hope it’s something simple 👌
Could also be that the house battery in the caravan is charging from the Prado and this is causing the Prado to think that it needs to start to keep the system voltage up. Try unplugging the van and see if it behaves different.
True, a lot of people say they dislike the Nullarbor. I've crossed it 7 times in the last 5 yrs and enjoyed every trip. Always something to see and I always check out the coast line, never fails to impress.
Get yourself a dash Matt as well, you will notice the difference in those hot sunny days. The sun hitting that dash, the aircon has to compete with it. The matt makes it just that bit better.
G’day guys, still loving your videos. I agree with the other comments, there will always be people with a different opinion especially on social media who are prepared to share it and try and take you down. Ignore them! You guys are doing a great job. Do what works best for you and keep having a great time.❤
The Prado is a great choice, we have a Prado and no issues. Toyota even recalled our Prado out of warranty to change the DPF. I would suggest a catch can and fuel filter (due to bad fuel & cost of pump/injectors) first to guard your investment. The drive train has proven reliability. Mines run Prados for years and are still buying them. I want to see how you go with mods as these are early with after market.
Some people might be lucky but not a lot of others. ruclips.net/video/pZZw8ni1ZqE/видео.htmlsi=f1OicuoZJ8wncQm4 and ruclips.net/video/8l3UQvGbODM/видео.htmlsi=UzaXcmsiGLM1q534
Enjoy what you are doing, there's no need to justify anything to anyone, that's what a good life is all about. Keep on travelling and being good at what you do. 🥇🥇
Get rid off that 0w/20 engine oil in there and put a 5w/30 or 5w/40 heavy towing in hot heat needs something thicker. There was a guy on youtube that did a big end bearing in his 2022 prado towing his caravan at only 30,000km.
Happy Saturday guys, glad to see you didn't kill each other. 😍 Engine is still tight and economy should hopefully improve as it loosens up. Sorry you feel you have to justify your decision to the haters. It's amazing to see how far you have come since you left Tasmania. ❤❤
Another great vid. Keep them coming. Oh and the longest straight road in the world is Highway 10. It is 268km long but 256km of it is straight, no bends, curves or turns.
Great video. On the auto start turn it off or disable it. Towing heavy loads and you stop and your hot motor stops without cooling down you are doing damage. Cheers 😎
You do you!! I can't believe people are so opinionated! It's BS! Not everyone is going to want a Prado, and some will! We are just enjoying the ride with you 3! Thank you for your channel! Love you guys and your adventures ❤
That's a good suggestion. 👍 I know with my start/stop feature (not a Prado), it does this if I have the A/C on, on hot days. The battery does not have enough juice to keep the A/C running with the engine off (ie. when the alternator is not charging the battery).
People are just jealous, clear and simple. It’s always the internet gurus who know everything about cars they have never even sat in, but know all about them. Enjoy your Prado, knowing how the previous models perform, I’m sure it will be amazing.
With a GVM upgrade, the suspension is part of the certification, which means the brand and components must be approved. You can not just pick your own.
You guys have good morals and values, and best of all, tell it how it is. Also love the experiences that you’re sharing about your new Prado. It’s interesting owner information that will be helpful for would be owners, hopefully like myself.
Guys we love your adventure , and your honest comments about the prado. We are waiting for our altitude to arrive .we are very excited and we have a very small caravan to tow . Good luck guys with your new purchase . ❤❤
I might be the odd one out here. But I'm an avid fan from RSA 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 absolutely no need to justify why you bought the Prado or got rid of the Ford. I'm a fan for your content and your personality. Forget the random keyboard warriors on their couches and you do you. That's what makes the channel. Kudos for the transparency. Love your vibe, love your content. Just wish I could get some Bogged merch in RSA.
Don't worry about the haters. Opinions are like stinky armpits everyone has them doesn't mean they should share them 😂.It's your choice what car suits you guys. It's beautiful. Thanks for the great videos. Enjoy your new ride and keep making memories. 🫶
Hi i have a new altitude and not sure if you have noticed but the stop start has a pressure sensor on the peddle and does not engage until you press it hard if you even slightly let the break pedal go it starts up again. so just hold some pressure on the break and it wont start up again. hope that helps
You guys crack me up! And your rant is totally legitimate and I totally understand where you’re coming from. Side note, I received my new bogged hat in the mail today thank you. Love it!
Congratulations again, guys 🎉. Fuel economy with improve once you run the car in around 10,000kms. Wonder if the stop/start is related to the van drawing current from the starter battery. FYI, I too got lucky at a regional dealer & got a LC300 in 4 day in Feb 2023, when there was a 2 year wait. Toyota has the biggest dealership thoughout Australia. Don't stress the haters, you guys are on the road daily. Toyota for the win. Highly recommended ARB & again nationwide dealership .
I really enjoy your videos and how you share your experiences of living on the road. I am appalled on what happens in the comments from time to time on your videos. Please don't feel the need to defend your decisions; it's your life and like all of us you learn as you go and what's great about the two of you is that you go to great pains to share your lessons so that some of us can also learn from what you have learned. Thank you for enduring the internet trolls... if you can try to tune them out.. I am looking forward to more videos and seeing how you go with the new truck. Please keep updating on your adventures and look forward to next weeks BOGGED episode already!
Oh Jake you crack me up ! Best episode ! You dont need to justify yourselves to anyone ! Do you ! Hubby had just said geeze lil seems more stressed than usual n your watch says the same ! 🎉 happy travels and cant wait for the next one !
You guys are awesome! You don’t have to explain your choices and you did made the right choice IMO. Cant wait to see what upgrades you do on the Prado 👍😁
You guys keep doing what you’re doing and ignore the haters and the arm chair global expedition mob. I had exactly the same buying experience with my last Toyota ended up bring it from Perth to Brisbane when all my local dealers had a 12 month wait. As for your choice of vehicle it’s your choice, excellent car, you’ll never go wrong with Toyota, and don’t forget most of the negative stuff that comes your way is coming from people who only do what you guys do in their dreams. Happy travels..
First thing I would do Guys is change the factory oil ( 0-20). With the temperatures and weights that you are operating at it’s a recipe for a catastrophic engine failure. Toyota put that ultra thin oil for emissions and fuel economy.
I’ve had 4 Prado’s (1x120 and 3x150). I have loved them as has my wife. Just not fully sure about the new ones… so your content is amazing (even more so!!). Thanks again and safe travels.
Hi, l would just like to say is that pulling into a camp site and find someone has dumped their grey water right where you camp is the worst. Why don't you just drive out of the camping area and dump your grey water where the next traveller won't be stopping.
Love you guys❤so genuine and lots of fun to watch 😂the Nullarbor and Bunda Cliffs are amazing can’t wait to cross them again ! hope you get better soon Lil 🤗🫶🫶💕🍻
Well said guys, I bought the car that suited my needs for towing, and looked at the GCM/GVM as well.........if it works for you guys that all that matters, you guys are so honest.
I totally agree re Toyota wait times, I travelled around outback NSW for work and the amount of new Toyotas sitting in dealer show rooms was astonishing, no waiting times as long as you took the colour white, love the prado.
Comments are content killers. You guys are awesome, Chill. Ps, if you turn off start stop. Fuel burn is a lot cheaper than a starter motor and ring gear. Lots Of Luv. Jase & Kylie.
26:36 Thank you for sharing this information I'm sure your views will love that you have done this. Sucks that we have to mention financial decisions and front foot things, but due to so many not telling the truth speculation goes wild when we don't. Appreciate you clearing it up. 👌
G'day lil and Jake, awesome cliffs on the Nullarbor, I was there in 1992,was really windy so not close to the edge, you go over and it's good night Irene, cheers ❤👍👍👍
What the hell guys. Your stuff is great, dont listen to the degraders. Yeah Jake can be a pain, but he is straight forward and honest. Your channel has excellent content. Hazel is gorgeous. Lil is simply amazing. Your reporting and rants are from the heart. We all appreciate that. 👍😁
I have to be honest here, this episode is the first time I have seen something I don't really like. I don't agree with the rant. I also didn't agree with the car choice, but I kept it to myself till now (as you are free to decide what suits you). Hoping this doesn't happen again as my wife and I have been bingeing your episodes and till now think you guys rock. Being in the public eye unfortunately you have to receive.negative comments and probably need to ignore them or address them in a way that doesn't make those who haven't said anything in comments feel like you are having a go at them too.
Hey guys, nice vlog yet again! Firstly I agree with Jake on the gear thing (sorry Lil😂) but like most of us guys all the stuff we carry is for the greater good, the tools the recovery’s and the repairs, and of course we need to wear clothes so that’s a selfish stash! 😂 Don’t stress about your fuel economy just yet as the 250 is only 3000k old and still tight, and the driving you are doing will bed that baby in well. And at the end of the day it is what it is. I think as someone else mentioned, get the tow pro wiring checked out, as if not wired quite correctly can cause some weird stuff on new cars these days. And the suspension JAKE for god sake put in the Old Man Emu BP51 suspension! You will not regret it as it is beautiful stuff, I’ve had many different brands like yourself but the BP stuff is next level mate. 😎
Great ep guys. Thanks for the information.... BUT, what you do with YOUR MONEY IS YOUR BUSINESS.... NO ONE ELSES. You are the one paying for your things not us. We are so happy for you guys and only wish you the best in life.... We did exactly what you said Lil. Our dealer in Canberra told us 12month wait. We bought our 300LC from Clintons Toyota Campbelltown Sydney 🙂 We bought the one they had in stock. We did get colour and model we wanted. LOVE our new car. Yes we had a ranger. YES we traded for the same reasons as you guys. 😞 Cant wipe the smile off our face to how much we LOVE driving this car. LOL. Lil I think you need to do more driving. Jake stop hogging the car LOL... Safe travels guys. Lv Tanya and Jason.
What’s your tyre pressure at? Try putting your tyre pressure up higher to the higher limits of the tyres to lessen rolling resistance and it will better your fuel economy for the bitumen. Do the van also. Other surfaces you need to be carful as the tyres won’t have the softness to absorb rocks etc on dirt roads, which is why you lower your pressure for rocky roads.
Good tip! I’ve actually found since this video, going faster has made it more economical! It sits in 7th gear at 105 and uses the same amount of fuel as 6th at 90-95
@lilandjake G'day Jake & Lil , a headwind and low ks on the engine will definitely use more fuel. Have look in the prado manual & check what gear you should be towing or LC 200 tows in S5. Ignore the knockers just miserable individuals. I would get a stone stoppe or a rock tammers etc I doubt there would be many replacement rear windows about. Safe travels
Hi guys. I done the cross country trip 6 times and everytime is different. Except that no matter which you go you never seem to get a tail wind. Head wind or no wind. You have to stop and see the sites along the way. There are many of them if you stop and explore.
I feel your pain Jake. Our freezer was full on an Eastern lap of Australia. I’m quite sure we had items in our freezer that were in there when we left.
Hey,dont listen to those that think they know better. You are living your Life which only concerns you, noone else. You have Mike and Margs back we luv your channel.Enjoy Guys,Lifes too Short😊
I’m way too late to suggest a Ford Everest v6, but then again you never asked. 😬 we’re Towing around 3t getting 15.8-18 L / 100 depending on how hard and which way the wind blows. We’re heading back to SA from Esperance tomorrow, taking5 days, should be fun!🤞 PS, you can turn off Stop Start and definitely turn off lane keeping as fighting lane keeping and wind with a caravan in tow can get squirrelly..
Just an FYI, I recently drove a 2024 Everest from Sydney to Bundaberg and got about 14.5 L/100 towing a 1500 kg trailer. I’m getting about 10.5 L/100 in the city. The Prado numbers seem pretty good to me.
Mate they are probably the most cost efficient 4x4 your travelling in comfort enjoy yourself better than some old shitter it's all about comfort and efficiency I've done millions of ks stay safe
Your car might be re-starting due to the van power draw on the start battery. If it sees the voltage drop down, it will start to maintain the power draw. Nice car BTW. Good choice 👍
Stop start is probably interacting with the air conditioning in your car to maintain the cabin temperature. They have that feature in Mercedes so the engine starts to keep the air-conditioner running to keep the cabin temperature stable.
Dab that cold sore with vinegar regularly. Helps to dry it out before it spreads too far. Congratulations on the new car… we recently traded in our jeep grand Cherokee with 193,000 on it… we got 5,000 trade
His and Hers issues are so funny, I remember those times! Enjoy your new car and get the most out of it and use its strength’s and improve its weaknesses over time, as we all do.
Hi guys, love your work keep it up, anyway you certainly do not have to justify yourselves to anyone let alone key board warriors. I seriously at my age am-not very social media wise so don’t understand what motivation people have to have a crack at your decisions, you explained it very well, that’s exactly how new vehicle’s are allocated so just ignore it all. Cheers peter
My stop start will not stay off long if you are using aircon. Try turning air conditioning off as you approach a stop sign, and see if engine stays turned off. Also if you are hooked up to other things draining the battery.
Start / Stop, could be due to the Anderson charging the van when towing, try disconnecting the Anderson plug and see if it makes a difference. You probably dont want to use that feature anyway when you are charging the van
Hey Jake, I know it's a stock Prado, but it does look a bit nose high. There's a good chance the extra wind resistance will make it chew through the fuel quicker - Have you considered Airbags in the back coils to level it up?
hey great to see you back on the track there will always be the doubters ignore they tend to be attention seekers great looking car a was shocked also about the fuel economy i drive a 2006 Toyota towing a 19'6 van it gets around the 20ks/100lt so keep traveling you two looking forward to the next one the bees were there when we stopped there as well lol crazy huh
interesting to join you on the Nullabor weve been across to WA and back many times had the Mercedes Sprinter. Our best fuel economy was 8.5 KM per 100 KM on way back to Melbourne with headwind at 85 to 90 KM per hour. Just thought i'd shoe the difference travelling light and keeping the speed down. - -
Hi guys The Nullarbor crossing I loved it. And with your suspension I've gone with fulcrum first on my ranger. Then recently I went with Pedders. Gvm upgrade. On my ranger wildtrack. Inc bigger radiator Bigger intercollegiate And a transmission cooler.. All certified and paperwork with vuc roads. Love it. And I tow a big caravan. And have a lot of stuff on it.
Hi Guys Congrats on the new car - I have been following you since the Spirit of Tassie - loved the Ranger because I have one and it made you unique and would of liked to see you in a Ford - but sill think you 3 are awesome 😊
Ha ha, what a rant, justifying the Prado. I don’t agree with most of it, but hey, it’s your ride, don’t try and justify it to others. Just enjoy upgrading it, lift kit and all the other accessories you need. There’s a few more dollars yet going into that $86k base price.
Yes almost all videos i have seen on the new Prado have been spent trying justify why they are better than the old ones and have also seen a lot say they have cancelled their orders . Guess time will tell.
We are an older nomadic couple, over that 60 mark lol and we wait for your episodes each week, but the reason for my comment is don't ever feel that you need to explain your choices or why you have made them, you guys are living your best life and that is all that matters. Have a similiar issue with mine when it is first driven cold. But seems to get better on mine the longer the drive goes
True, a lot of people say they dislike the Nullarbor. I've crossed it 7 times in the last 5 yrs and enjoyed every trip. Always something to see and I always check out the coast line, never fails to impress.
@@TheOldFellasTravels I wrote a song about the Nullarbor. It's quirky as dingo piss creek.
@Tom-ce8ib 🤣🤣🤣 Dingo piss creek. He's a funny bugger. I watch him all the time. Where can I hear the song. 😉🤗
Get yourself a dash Matt as well, you will notice the difference in those hot sunny days. The sun hitting that dash, the aircon has to compete with it. The matt makes it just that bit better.

Get rid off that 0w/20 engine oil in there and put a 5w/30 or 5w/40 heavy towing in hot heat needs something thicker. There was a guy on youtube that did a big end bearing in his 2022 prado towing his caravan at only 30,000km.
Sage advice
Yes toyota will soon be changing recommended oil viscosity to 5w30. Only reason they went with 0w20 is for emissions
This comment! 🙌

The stop start might have something to do with the power drawing from your Anderson plug maybe
That's a good suggestion. 👍 I know with my start/stop feature (not a Prado), it does this if I have the A/C on, on hot days. The battery does not have enough juice to keep the A/C running with the engine off (ie. when the alternator is not charging the battery).

Don’t stress about your fuel economy just yet as the 250 is only 3000k old and still tight, and the driving you are doing will bed that baby in well.
Thank you for your content. Looking forward to the new mods on the Prado. Don’t listen to the negative Nancy’s
Appreciate you! ❤️
Hi guys. Love your channel. You do not have to justify yourselves to anyone !
Great episode. Fully believe you guys are open and honest.
I really enjoyed this , not very often you see a you tuber carry on like this , do what makes you happy not the followers , awesome 😂
We’re heading back to SA from Esperance tomorrow, taking5 days, should be fun!🤞
PS, you can turn off Stop Start and definitely turn off lane keeping as fighting lane keeping and wind with a caravan in tow can get squirrelly..
Can’t wait to do the Nullabor - will be a highlight for us.😁🌺 Love Hazel -such a cutie.🐶🌺😁
😊your personality makes up for the hotness!! (At the moment)
I use Echinacea tincture at the very first sign of a cold sore flare up. I put it straigh on the sore, hope that helps.
Your car might be re-starting due to the van power draw on the start battery. If it sees the voltage drop down, it will start to maintain the power draw. Nice car BTW. Good choice 👍
Really? Might look into it! Thanks so much! ❤️
Stop start is probably interacting with the air conditioning in your car to maintain the cabin temperature. They have that feature in Mercedes so the engine starts to keep the air-conditioner running to keep the cabin temperature stable.
That’s what the 48V system is for
Love love love !!! You guys are smashing it ❤
No need to panic the quarantine is not till Ceduna.
Hi Guys, you two are both informative and entertaining, I learn and laugh.👏👏👍❤️💐🐕💃🕺
Great and very informative vid guys. The Parado seems like good value for money especially if it will hold its value compared to the ranger.
Cheers
A car is a car is a car! It really doesn’t matter what you drive as long as you are living the adventure you want to live.
Love watching you two. Null = zero + arbor = tree (as in arborist) Null - arbor
I wonder what the dealer sold your Ford for..with all those add on's..someone got a nice vehicle
Keep an eye on the airfilters letting dust through like the 150's & hilux's do & report back 🙏🏽
Will do! Haven’t even had a chance to look in it yet!
Is it me or when you show a shot of you towing on the long straight, I didn’t see any towing mirrors ? Cheers
I asked that question and they havnt answered yet
Cool 😎
Hi guys, love your work keep it up, anyway you certainly do not have to justify yourselves to anyone let alone key board warriors. I seriously at my age am-not very social media wise so don’t understand what motivation people have to have a crack at your decisions, you explained it very well, that’s exactly how new vehicle’s are allocated so just ignore it all. Cheers peter
Thanks for another great video!
My stop start will not stay off long if you are using aircon. Try turning air conditioning off as you approach a stop sign, and see if engine stays turned off. Also if you are hooked up to other things draining the battery.
5:01 - is it not staying off because you have a DCDC charger in the van pulling from the car so it's freaking out the stop start? Just a guess.
Hi Jake I got a Lovell kit and I’m loving it it’s a gvm gcm upgrade I wouldn’t use any other kit I have a 79 series landcruiser Cheers guys
Lol @19:50 - the GCM wasnt even published when you bought the Prado, you said so yourselves.
Hey Jake how do you get satellite view on your dash screen please?
Save on fuel ... leave Lil " in the outback now "...lol
Love the way Jake just switches off.
Great episode guys, I hear you Jake what’s hers is hers and what yours is ours 😂😂
I'm looking at getting a new prado myself, but i certainly won't look at like an investment. Especially with the amount of kms you'll be doing.
Hi guys
The Nullarbor crossing I loved it.
And with your suspension
I've gone with fulcrum first on my ranger. Then recently I went with Pedders. Gvm upgrade.
On my ranger wildtrack.
Inc bigger radiator
Bigger intercollegiate
And a transmission cooler..
All certified and paperwork with vuc roads.
Love it.
And I tow a big caravan. And have a lot of stuff on it.
Sorry about the spelling
😆
yea theres a few available prados available near me in far north nsw
Yea they’re everywhere hey! Thanks for watching!
Heya, back to Norseman, we meet you both there couple years ago 👍
Good thing they got the money to shell for it.. Must be nice 🤑
@@tallboy49 Wouldn’t be my first choice! But hey…each to their own eh?!
Well said
What the weight of your setup ? Travel weight of the Pardo, van , ball weight and all up tonnage?
