Best to wire it on the passenger side just in case the wire falls out so it doesn't get in your way visually or interfere with the pedals, but I used this guide to install mine. Thanks.
Thanks!
I had the same feeling I did it yesterday. I came to see how to install the rear view camera, but I guess it's the same procedure.
4 things you might want to watch out for: 1. Plug in both cameras to the outlet in the car and make sure they work before installing 2. Watch where you stick the camera in the back - mine said do NOT adhere the sticky part over the back window heater wires and 3. Again, with the rear camera, position it temporarily BEFORE unpeeling the glue strip (duct tape works!) to check that you don't have the lens with the window heater wires running through the image. and 4, be sure you position both cameras within the sweep of both front and rear (if applicable) windshield wipers so you have a good image when it's raining. Hope those helps you ---now can you help me, please? I can't take take a chunk of molding off to hide those several feet of extra rear camera cable. What to do?? Thanks
Tape against molding as close as possible
Splice the wires or find a male and female adapter to connect them together after you found the perfect length. If you're not safe with doing that then stuff alot of the wire from begining to end into your molding, prob won't work tho if it's as much wire as it sounds
When installing the rear cam, maybe you can run from rear to front and leave the bulk of the cable to be tucked under the dashboard
Excellent additional tips. Good information for novice installers, like me. Thanks
Mine recommends mounting rear camera outside near tag
Thank you so much! I got my dash cam 4 months ago and couldn't find someone to install it for me. You made it so simple to understand. I'm going to give it the ol girlscout try tomorrow.
Were you able to do it?
Update?
Guess not huh ? Lol !
I just installed my front and rear cam after watching this video. It gave me confidence that I can do it myself, than you for saving me installation charges.
Great video. BUT PLEASE anyone who does try to tuck their wires need to make sure they are doing it correctly at the A and B pillars as we have side curtain airbags. You don't want it prevent deployment in the case of emergency. Tucking it behind the airbag liner is important and you should always disconnect the battery before doing something electrical related for safety.
lol my car doesnt have b pillars
You make the cable routing look so easy it made me actually laugh out loud. Very impressive display of mastery.
Work at the smyrna nissan plant. All the upper finishers and the door welts can be removed and replaced pretty easily (just a bunch of push pins or clips and possibly a screw behind the SRS cap for the finishers). The lower finishers usually need the upper finisher fully removed before it can be pulled off.
Just don't pull too much of the door welt off at a time, and don't attempt to pull down the headliner (it could leave a crease).
Great video. I’ll just say that I’m concerned about routing wires where SRS airbags (Side window and knee) deploy. I would encourage folks to do some research on your specific vehicle on how they deploy.
We’ve been needing a cam since Dallas traffic is getting way worse! Got one for wife’s car and mine, delivered next day, took less than 30 minutes to install both after watching your video. Thank you!
Thanks for this encouragement. I was nervous about my fiances nive car but im gonna go for it now!! 👍
Solid description on how to run the wires. I was able to do so smoothly because of this tutorial.
I have always wanted a dash cam but never wanted to pay 200$ for installation at professional shop!! This video made my order the camera pro m 550!! Thank you!! Amazing dash cam on budget very good specially that it films inside the car . This help when police lie!
Thanks I just ordered one.I just had a crazy driver trying to run me off the road because I was looking for a location and driving slow.
It will be nice to have proof if anything else ever happens.THANK YOU.
Great video-detailed and really helpful! I just installed my rear camera on my own, and as a woman, it feels amazing to know I can do these things myself. I haven't tackled the front wiring yet because I'm planning to re-route it along the passenger side for a cleaner look. Since I have an SUV, I also need to tidy up the wiring in the trunk area. But overall, this video was super helpful and gave me the confidence to get started!
Why don’t car manufacturers just install car dash cams in cars as a normal thing?? Saves us having to do this? Bit stupid really?
They sell cars to make money not to make you happy lol
I agree, it should be an option when buying a new car and maybe it is offered for some new cars. Theres maybe a couple privacy reasons people might not want one, like they’re paranoid or an irresponsible driver, or they want a higher quality dash camera. That’s maybe why it would be a problem for some people if it came on the base model car and you couldn’t uninstall it. Insurers would love to have stock built-in dash cams lol.
Yes Tesla
Im sure the government would love that to spy on us 24/7.
They do for more money my parents have a 6 way dash cam
This is so incredibly helpful, one of the reasons I have not pursued getting a dash cam because I didn't want stupid wires. I didn't even think the routed this way thank you so much.
Most Welcome!
I'd install with wires routed via passenger's side. The wire near brakes and accelerator makes me nervous.
Thank you for the suggestion😭
Good point
I’m doing a hardwired connection and the fuse box is above the pedals. Don’t worry too much about it, as long as no wire is dangling in front or around the pedals
Just ordered the exact camera today because of this video! Well worth it 😎
This video actually gave me confidence to do it. You make it look so easy. So I'll go out and do it right now! 🙂
This is going to be awesome. I'm 19 years old so I'm always gonna be the one blamed if someone tries to pull a fast one on me. Gonna talk to my dad about it this weekend.
Question: I see you mounted the camera on the back windshield. What should I do if the back windshield is part of the trunk door? (I drive a Subaru Forester) I won't really be able to stuff the wire in the sealing between the car wall and back door because the wires will likely get messed up as the trunk opens up.
I just bought this because of your awesome video. Thanks my brother!
Thank you loads for this video truly appreciated. Installed my cam effortlessly I saved on the installation money.
Your explanation was so helpful and easy to me , thank you so much
Following this instruction and I can’t believe I can do it myself. Thank you!!
Why did you run the wires across the driver's side where all your very important vehicle control pedals are? Sure, you tuck it all up under the dashboard or run it under the floor mat, but why on the driver's side? I always run my cables around on the passenger side, just to be extra safe.
First of all I would like to thank you, secondly you’re amazing you save me $900 imagine that, and finally you’re so good at explaining.
You have the voice of that guy that cooks the perfect steak.
What the hell does the have to do with the video
@@Ryan09208 Was wondering the same thing :)
@@Ryan09208what’s it to you
Awesome, I can't wait to do this. Thanks, love your energy and excitement, keep up the good work.🔥🔥
So good. I saw some other videos but they didn't cover the details you have covered! Thank you
Awesome video! All my local places charge hundreds of dollars for install, this is awesome
Very nice very helpful video. I always had this fear of dangling wires but never knew that it is so easy actually you made it easy. Bravo!!
6:35 totally worth it watching this video, great idea!
03:37... isn't that wire over the pillar air bag? Won't that effect the deployment of the air bag? I just did mine today, I passed the wire UNDER the air bag.
Thanks so much! I had no idea how to hide the cord till this video, worked like a charm, installed three direction camera. Only problem, had to use my own double sided tape, the 3M tape that it came with would not stick to the plastic over my back window. Awesome video, I subbed.
This video really helped me a lot thanks, but the issue for me is the seal and compartments in my car don't come off. There aren't any spaces between then compartments and they don't just come off. Been struggling to get just a slight crack to put wire. Also my door seals are like glued on, they don't come off. Maybe cause my car is a newer car (2020 Santa Fe)?
Thanks for the video and helpful tips. My original plan was to find out how to hardwire a dash cam into my car but no need now. 👍
Best dash cam video ever!! Well explained nice and crisp!!! Good job❤
Great how-to demo for installation! Thanks for putting this up.
Omg thank you… I live in a city with a bunch of idiots and had so many encounters with people who try stupid stuff I was deciding weather or not to get a dash cam and this makes me wanna get one
Man you make it so simple for you man 👨
Thanks so much. Have that same dash cam coming today and was nervous about installing. Your video really helped. I try to do things by myself and your video made it look so easy. Thanks so much
This tutorial made it look so easy that now I have the confidence of doing the installation myself
Great video. Thanks a mil
I have a Mazda CX-50 with a lift back -- trying to figure out how to wire the rear camera. The main (front) camera (Vantrue N4) was easy to install...just wanna do the rear camera smartly.
Thanks so much! Your video was quick and easy to understand. My camera is all set up and ready for my road trip!!
Thank you for explaining very well, it helped me install my dash cam into my jeep patriot!
I am gonna install for my brother. Thank you. You made my help easy 😂
Thanks
Nice video, a lot easier than a lot of other videos that remove trim, clips etc. big pain in the ass.
I have a hatchback therefore to open the boot, the whole back side of the car opens up. Any tips to keep the wires from stretching or falling apart on the rear end when opening the boot?
I dunno shit about cars, so I'm talking out my ass, but I believe said cars generally have a rubber grommet near center on the hinge side where relevant wiring is routed through. Popping out the grommet and adjacent panels should allow you to route your cables neatly.
Thanks for video. I’m planning DIY install too however my concern is the airbag pillar, if I tuck it in near the corner of the pillar, is it safe? I was scared if airbag might deploy. Sorry for the dumb question.
So, we don't need to wire to battery or fuse no more? And this doesn't drain your battery especially if your car is off?
Hey bro, thanks for sharing yourhand tips on installing this WebCam I’m getting one in the next few days. I’ll be banging it in my car just so you just done yours. 🎉
Thanks so much for your wire hiding tips. And your cameras placing. Thanks.
Does this record overnight when the car is parked and turned off? Just curious.😊
Excellent video dude, answers all my question, thank you very much for sharing 🖖.
bro cable management is sick now i getting one thanx man
\
thank you very much for the video, because the video helped me a lot. You explain exactly what you can do. Thank you again for your effort🙂
Thanks for a great video. This will help me install my new dashcam by myself.
at 3:39 you cross the pillar. a lot of vehicles have curtain airbags there and you should not cross a wire over them
You made it look so simple hiding the cables, amazing job!
I just finished watching your installation video and you make it look super easy. One question i have is, what if you change vehicles and want to keep the dashcam for the new vehicle? Is it easy to uninstall?
Yes it’s simple to uninstall and put into a new car.
Thank you. This is so well and clearly done and a huge help.
Thank you for giving me confidence in doing in myself
So you had enough routing space to run BOTH wires along the same/path area?
Excellent video....great advice !!!
I was able to put the extra wiring for my rear camera behind the rear seat (popping it open to basically put the wiring in the trunk).
just wondering, can dashcams also be used to deter a break into the car or should one install a dedicated system for that
Do we need to unplug the battery before installing this? As airbags get deployed if anything happens.
When you have a USB in the car, can you just connect this to it? Instead of using the 12volts connector where lighter used to go ??
Do you think those cables the way you routed them would interfere with the airbags?
Nice video. Thank you. This will help me to install my own dash cam for the first time. On your next video, it would be nice to include information like, why you purchased the particular dash cam? Cost, etc... A little more information such as a few nice features about the dash cam. Also, you did not include the image of the rear camera or the interior.
So u gonna show us how to hook up the working harness to get the park features to work cus last I checked u need a extra battery for the dash cam to run wen the cars off and the way it works is wen someone hits ur car parked the camera turns on for a minute and records then shuts back off !💯 I mean it does say perfect dash cam installation
Does your dash cam lose the current date and time whenever you turn off car engine?
Quick quesion..i have airbag written in the reverse wall compartment..can i still move the wire along the groove
How about routing wires where airbags are, such as when you feed the wire across the top of the A pillar and along where the curtain airbag is for the rear camera, is ok to do that? Good video btw thanks.
no, no it isnt.
@@Chris_24.oh dear, I’m afraid that’s how I ran the cables, oh well eh
@@bertbile Welp, its time to route them elsewhere, check @Chrisfix dashcam installation, he explains how to hardiwre-and route dashcam cables SAFELY
Thanks for excellent tips bud, helped me big time
Rear cam cable - Is it not possible to route it up in the headliner ?
I highly recommend to disconnect the battery before doing this and waiting a while. Messing around with the A pillar is a sure way to set off the airbag especially slamming the cover back in place.
You should also make sure to place the wiring BEHIND the airbag liner or else the airbag might not go off properly after an accident
Solid advice! Safety first when dealing with the A pillar and airbags. Disconnecting the battery and being mindful of wiring placement is key to avoid any mishaps.
Do I really need to drill a hole on my car if I want to install the rear cam outside? Above the plate number? Cause my window tinted is very dark I’m concerned the rear cam wouldn’t record clearly if I install it inside
You'll be good
Question.. does the car have to be on in order for the cameras to be active or will they always be recording even when the car is off?
it needs the engine running.
My cigarette lighter is in the center console, what’s your suggestion for hiding the cable?
You encouraged me to install it bymyaelf thank you!!
Great video dude..thanks
I assume the camera is off when the car is off. Is there a camera that can record after the ignition is turned off?
Thanks for the video.
Some cars (like my 2023 Rogue) have the Adaptive Cruise Control sensor right in the back of the mirror assembly, so placing a dashcam in the spot you chose is a big no no. Just a warning for people to check and confirm their specific cars and where sensors/cameras are placed.
I have the same issue. so where did you install it?
@@Lag1914 mine is actually on the back right of rear view mirror (passenger side) so ok to install rear left (driver side) of rear view
when you route the cables in the black headliner, will it compromise the side curtain airbags?
Does it record everytime the engine is on or you need to power it up and hit rec everytime you start your enegine?
And what do you do when you run out of space?
Any tips on how to find the wifi? I bought this on prime day and it won't connect at all. Can't even manually enter the wifi stuff.
Where is the back camera? I believe it should be on the screen of the dash cam. And wouldn't you know, that is the problem I have. My back camera worked for about 3 miles and then NOTHING. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Al
How many days that the memory card get full ? And do we need to delete all the files before plug in again ?
I got cheap and bought a set from temu. The rear ones can't be install on the inside coz it could detect anything at night. Get one witha good rear cam does does not need holes to be drilled!😅
Does placing the front camera on the antenna affect the sound? Won’t the sticky tape eventually unstick in hot weather?
Which type of dash camera would you recommend for overnight parking, to prevent your car from being vandalized or to catch up the vandalizers?
Something like this works also because if someone touches your car, it will start recording. It has 24 hour recording.
These cars are expensive, why cant they include in-built dashcams in there?!
True
Some cars do have in-built dashcams nowadays. Been around since 2020.
Nice Video, but what happens when car is stopped,Engine not running,it wont record??
Is there a way to wire direct and not have to use plug
Thank you for this video. Really helpful 😊
Thanks dude.. your video really help me
How do you overcome rear hatch loose cable to allow hatch to open?
Tnx man. I learned so much from you.
