Thanks, guys. For that ,i live in Tasmania, and we are looking for a caravan to travel around .
We are not happy with some of the caravan sellers in Tasmania, so we could be heading to the main land
    To buy a caravan.

Thanks for the video, maybe a silly question but does this similarly apply to single axle caravans?

Really interesting how it effects ball weight but what isnt mentioned when you talk about extending draw bar is rear axle load on car which can be 1.5x ball weight making rear axle overloaded. There really is so much to think about when talking weights it is crazy.

    That’s very interesting.
The amount of vans I see with twin water containers on the back, & that’s 40kg.

twin water, twin spares, firewood box - its about the engineering for the van, not just the fact they are there. Good van manufacturers will have done all this in the design and engineering phase. Sadly and in reality it's the lack of good design and engineering (and subsequent lack of regulation) in van industry that is a big part of the issue!

Now I'm confused. If I add 20kg of stuff and put it over the axle(s), I thought it would be worth 2 kg at the towball, assuming 10% at the towball overall. You didn't actually climb into the van and do that. So am I right or wrong?

hey it may have been better if you had shown the axil weights changing ,as well

The reason for not using scales under the wheels is to keep it simple.
We really want people to understand what happens without a lot of numbers and confusion. This is used as a demonstration to gain an understanding of how weight effects the ball weight.

What's the ballpark cost to getting a van weighed up like this? Thanks.
