    Great van. We are looking at upgrading our 2020 22' executive with central ensuite to get the air bag suspension and all the electrical improvements so we can run the ac and coffee machine off grid. A couple of questions for you. Can we pick colours for the inside of the van? My wife did not like the colours especially the leather. Can we specify a central ensuite? Can we delete the boom box outside? As grey nomads we have no use for that. We do not really need the full off road capabilities of this van. Is there another model with the airbag suspension and the electrical improvements that you can recommend? Can we change the slide out kitchen to one that has a webber Q instead? As i said, a great van but we would like a few changes. Also could you message me a RRP of that van as it stands. Many thanks. Cheers

      RRP for a 22' Territory X with a centre ensuite and rear club lounge is $160,000. We would be able to accomodate most of your requests/changes, but the airbags only come with the full off-road suspension. Good info and the principle is there. 12psi is fairly low pressures and I would only recommend going that low if it was super soft. The majority of beach driving is done at the water line, and in the case of somewhere like K'Gari, travelling 80+km up the beach at 12psi wont be great for the tyre and isnt safe. Your rear tyre readings would have been skewed as you stated the caravan was attached to the vehicle, but i noticed the front stabiliser legs were down which would have taken a fair amount of weight off the rear axles.

    Thanks Dave for the info & shoutout. That’s really useful and confirmed what I thought might be happening but wasn’t 100% sure. That TVMS system is pretty cool! Makes me want one now. If you’re plugged into 240 but have solar coming in too and full batteries, does it use that before the 240 or does the 240 override it?

    • @adelaiderv
      @adelaiderv 12 дней назад

      The system won't allow you to power the van directly with 240V, the batteries will power the van and the system will prioritise charging those batteries with solar first, then 240V.

    Is that the same rule of thumb for driving on corrugated tracks. Eg.. Birdsville, Gibb River etc.

    • @adelaiderv
      @adelaiderv 15 дней назад

      We asked Richard what he recommended and he said that you still want to air down the tyres a little to absorb the smaller bumps, but also drive at such a speed that your suspension is in sync with the corrugations. Essentially you want to be bouncing in and out of the corrugations, and varying your speed by 10km/h can make all the difference. Definitely a solution that would be unique to your weights and vehicle.

    Very informative but you missed out on an important weight limit that is often exceeded, the tow vehicles rear axle weight limit. All cars have axle weight limits and it's vital these are not exceeded. On top of that, the relationship between tow ball weight and rear axle weight is also important to understand. As an example, I had my combination professionally weighed and my 2.4T van had a loaded tow ball weight of 244kg. When the van was hitched to my MUX it added 350kg to the load on the rear axle and lowered the front axle load by 108kg. The further the tow ball is from the cars rear axle the greater the load on the rear axle and the lower the load on the front axle. The tow vehicles axle weight limits are as important as all the other weight limits and should have been included in your video.

    Very informative video BUT the question that should be asked is why is a home antenna so much larger than these caravan fitments...Answer, so they can receive a strong enough signal when not located close to the transmitter, so these little van things have no hope unless you can throw a tennis ball and hit the transmitter mast. I installled antennas for many years and as I tell people that ask why they cant tune anything in their van when on the outer limits of a town in a free camp, move into the town or city because the fitted antenna on their van is extremely poor....

    This just shows you how impractical independent suspension is, it does not load share. Imagine what is going on with your ball weight when traveling over uneven road surfaces. Always buy a van with a simple load sharing suspension such as leaf spring rocker roller system, even better with shockers. The ride and handling is superb.
