Hi, I would suggest have a chat and book in for a weigh. That way you have all the facts. You can then take that to a local lovells etc and work out a solution from there.
Nice video. A little disappointed that you did not compare the Nissan Patrol. You did mention it at the start. I did all the sums at the start of this year. We were coming out f a 2917 XLT Ranger which I loved, but the gearbox and other issues made it a worry. Looked at the new Rangers, but they were not as good as what I had. They had the best payload but the next best was the Patrol. It had a rear axle with a rating 180kg more than what Nissan rated the car for. So for very little money I could change my GVM upwards by 180kg. That 180kg extra was all I needed to make me well under GCM instead of very close. The cruiser was, as far as payload goes very disappointing for me as well, as the payload of the American utes. If any of my assumptions are wrong, I would love to hear your opinions. Many thanks.
Hi John, Unfortunately we didn't have a patrol on hand and ran out of time. I have found the difference from the cruiser from the patrol is the aftermarket options available. It's very personal choice. As for the 1500 utes yes some do struggle in the payload department. We always recommend doing thorough research before you purchase a van or vehicle to save a lot of heartache later.
Nice piece, thanks. I live and work on the road full time. The number and type of vehicles towing a 19'-22' van is often appalling. Braking and steering are the main issues. I've witnessed combinations fly through round abouts, stop signs and give way signs because they can brake sufficiently. I've witnessed combinations go wide on turns because their steering is so light. Regulatory weighing and and towing licenses are needed. I'm not a wowser but these people kill other drivers every month of the year.
We never recommend towing a caravan heavier than the vehicle. But unfortunately cars are advertised to tow 3.5ton and vans are getting heavier. Like we said in the video this is very general information and always recommend you speak to someone in the know.
With the GVM upgrade of the LC200 to 4015Kg, without a GCM upgrade, it can only tow 2835Kg if the car is at its full GVM..........Not really worth the dollars spent for the outcome.
Very true, but if you don't use the whole gvm that leaves a little lft for towing. It's all very a personal choice and one outcome will be different for another person. Also a gvm upgrade also helps with towing for for the ride, clearance for off road use and stability its worth the money spent for some.
Why do you talk about a Toyota you can no longer buy new, what about tow bar also that Toyota holds about 150 litres of fuel all this before you even get your arse in the car.
It's one of the most popular vehicles we weigh and still one of the most popular options for a lot of people. 120l of fuel is taken into account when it comes to kerb weight. Tare does not take into account fuel.
Brilliant presentation.Got my vote.
Well done, great information.
GREAT VIDEO AS VERY GOOD WATCHING
I have a 2022 LST MU-X and just bought a 19’6 Supreme Executive I hope the MUX can tow it. Do you have any mod suggestions?

Wheel base on tug, drawbar length on van, make setup difference.
Good job 🎉
I thought the GCM on the everest was 6250, at least according to the ford website

No prados??
Why would you tow a van that weighs more than the tow vehicle? That’s asking for trouble.
Indeed.

@@aaronrobinson2850 Maybe a topic for a future video?
Are triple roadtrains heavier than the prime mover? Are standard single trailer semis heavier than the cab pulling them ?
@petesprojects700 yes, but the load is distributed differently. You cannot compare apples with bananas.

So people with plenty of money buy the Toyota and the others the Ranger.
