    If you turn your brain off and have absolutely zero expectations, it’s actually a pretty entertaining movie. But yeah was pretty dumb in a lot of ways. Also Po hasn’t been dragon warrior for that long tbh he’s still in his prime and could get even better. And he has no maturity or wisdom so how tf is he gonna be “spiritual leader”

      Zhen’s backstory: She was adopted by the Chameleon and was taught to look out for herself.
      Zhen’s character development: She realizes the Chameleon doesn’t really care about her, so she betrays her.
      My conclusion: Zhen doesn’t have any meaningful character development. She is still only looking out for herself and is somehow rewarded by being chosen to be the dragon warrior. Yes, her background is tragic… tragically awful!

    This review is on point! Exactly how I felt with this terrible sequel. Kung Fu Panda ended perfectly in 3. Don't forget that Kai exploded, how the heck is he alive in the spirit realm again?

      Tbh I wasn’t a fan of Kung Fu Panda 3, but I will admit it closed off Po’s character arc perfectly. It did a lot of other things great to! That is to say it finished off the story, it was a satisfying conclusion. And now in the 4th one we have characters regressing. It’s like they didn’t watch 2 or 3.

    • @Dragzilla66
      @Dragzilla66 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@babygiraffe53 Yeah Kung Fu Panda 1 was the perfectly written movie but yeah 3 ended Po's arc just fine. They gave Po character regression in 4 just like how they do with the Kung Fu Panda streaming shows.

    You're complaining about Po picking Zhen as the next Dragon Warrior over Tigress, but Oogway picked a total stranger over Tigress.

    • @babygiraffe53
      @babygiraffe53  8 месяцев назад +5

      Yeah, do you know why he picked Po though? Because he was in tune with the universe and completely trusted in destiny.
      Po simply says, “When you know you know.” It’s presented as Po choosing a successor from his own intuition.

    • @siobhonc
      @siobhonc 8 месяцев назад +1

      Well, Shifu said that to Po first. How do you know that Po's "intuition" wasn't in tune with the universe?

    • @babygiraffe53
      @babygiraffe53  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@siobhonc because for Oogway we were shown he had complete peace with everything that happened even when he was able to see visions of the future. Po doesn’t seem at peace with anything that happened in the movie he is constantly trying to push back on things that happen to him (like refusing to choose a new dragon warrior) but at the end of the movie he decides by himself that somehow “He knows.” There is no reason given to the audience or Po that Zhen should be the dragon warrior. Po just decided by himself to choose her.

    • @siobhonc
      @siobhonc 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@babygiraffe53 I do agree. The writers could have fleshed it out a bit more. And Shifu's reaction to Zhen becoming the next DW didn't inspire a lot of confidence for sure.

    This was an aggressive review, but I agree with a majority of your points. I just felt like this entire movie was lacking. It’s not an awful movie, but when lined up with the first three it’s not great and ruins the overall story. I feel like this wasn’t supposed to be made but it was. I can see how a 4th entry could be made because The Chameleon and fox could have been interesting characters, but with poor writing and a lackluster backstory, they came off as an unsatisfying roster of new characters.
    I’d give this a 5.5/10 honestly, but I had fun with it, just very dissatisfied.

    Damn and I gave the benefit of doubt on this movie. "Yeah it has jump the shark pacing. And symptoms of ice age in there. but it's just to distractions from the subtleties of a pure journey charater development, dnd style."

    I adore Kung Fu Panda with all my heart, but in my opinion- this movie was a huge disrespect to the ones before it. The second I saw the "animation style" - and millennial humor, I knew it'd be bad. Kung Fu Panda 2 is my absolute favorite movie in all of the trilogy. I've watched it so many times- listen to their incredible score almost every day. The visuals weren't ``over exagerated``, it was the perfect balance between amazing graphics, and REALISTIC lighting.
    Now let's get to Po, the way he acted felt so much more realistic. At times he was silly, but when the serious times came- he was SERIOUS!
    It seems like in the 3rd film- and now the 4th, they try to make him ``silly and goofy `` all the time. Po in the 1st and 2nd film had such a lovable personality, he had so much EMOTION, his facial expressions weren't over the top either. And I feel as if the characters actually had ``mass`` - like they were actually there. Also like, can we treat the villians seriously like we did in the first two films? They treated Kai like he was a joke- he had a lot of potential to be an INCREDIBLE villian! Especially with his theme song.
    The lighting, backrounds, ESPECIALLY THE STORY, and the overall design of the movie was a perfect balance of everything.
    In a way, ( Hopefully this makes sense ) - when I watched Po in the first two movies, I heard PO. I didn't hear Jack Black. But now, all I hear is Jack Black TRYING to be Po. It's just not the same anymore. The voice acting did not feel natural at all in the 4th- you could tell they were reading a script.
    And Lord Shen, the darker tone to the film made it just THAT good. He had such a personal relation to Po- which made him all the more terrifying. I don't think this movie is horrible, it's just not up to par with the 1st, 2nd, and even the 3rd.

    • @babygiraffe53
      @babygiraffe53  7 месяцев назад +1

      I 100% agree!
      The first two Kung Fu Pandas were masterpieces. The 3rd was definitely a step down, but the 4th was a gold medal Olympic leap!
      I’d rather DreamWorks put in the effort to make great stories rather than just try to make kids laugh.
      The 1st and 2nd Kung Fu Pandas will be rewatched for a long time! But I have a hard time believing anyone will be rewatching the 4th one 10 years or so. It won’t age well at all.

    This review was uploaded before the co director had talked about the troubled production. She wanted to be true to KFP 1&2 but director Mike Mitchell fought for creative control, she insisted on giving Zhen and the chameleon backstories and Mike refused and even when he did give in, it was after a second test screening, in other words, it was a last minute decision. The furious five and Shen and Kai were last minute additions too! Plus, Stephanie had Po have a vision that Shifu was kidnapped by the chameleon and that would’ve been a better reason for Po to go to the city, and Tai Lung and Shifu were going to make up and share a tearful farewell before Tai Lung goes back to the spiritual realm.
    What a mess. Oh and get a load of this, at one point Mitchell even wanted this to be a live action animation hybrid! Like What?! That’s the most ridiculous thing ever!!

    • @babygiraffe53
      @babygiraffe53  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, that came out just after my video. I thought about taking about it, but it doesn’t quite fit with my other content… it probably would have just been me complaining about the director the whole time.
      I hadn’t heard that there was an idea to make it a live action/animated hybrid! That’s insane!!!
      The co director made it sound like no one wanted to be working on Kung Fu Panda 4 (for a variety of reasons) and wanted to work on Wild Robot instead.
      So I’m hoping Wild Robot is much better!

    I would suggest ppl to watch the movie and decide for themselves instead of just trusting all the negative reviews. Sure, it's the weakest movie in the franchise but I feel like you and a lot of other youtubers are going overboard with all the hate. Many of you hate it so much because you want the story to go a certain way and the changes are hard for you to accept. But that doesn't make the movie trash. The movie just didn't meet YOUR expectations.
