As someone that started using computers in the mid 80's this is exactly the kind of retro inspired horror game I love to see. I have Faith on Steam, but this one I'm definitely getting a physical copy for the Switch.
As someone who saw a vtuber play this and it went on sale on the 1.0 patch release, I bought it and played for a good 8 hours from midnight and man did I get sucked in. Even now I'm itching to go back home to unlock achievements and characters and speedrun to see all the secrets of this town....would be super meta if they had a mission where kids all got addicted to a new game and become zombies like the ramen or bulletin board mystery 😮
So glad to see you enjoyed this one! A friend recommended it to me the other day and I was absolutely blown away. Really hope more people can give it a shot.
heard about this game in a random thread on 4chan and the poster claimed it's the closest thing to a playable junji ito manga and that sentiment seems to be true
In case anyone is wondering where the console versions are (I searched and waited all day yesterday for them to launch) they are delayed another week....
As is, you can’t go wrong. Sales are expected to be good so hopefully we get more. The game is already set to be DLC heaven. I’d pay 20$ for 5-6 new mysteries and a playable character. And with a full release comes more accessibility for mods, which is tantalizing. It’s text and MS Paint drawings, something a lot more people are capable of working with than most games.
Got my win on 3rd-4th try? Haven’t even touched the forest, hospital, apartments or seaside. Even then, hitting the same spots presents a lot of events that surprised me when I expected repetition. My only complaint is some events don’t meet up with other details happening in the current story. Example: all communications to the town have been cut off… cue to mystery solving “you get a call on the local phone.” If you can get past little inconsistencies like that and the quick ending, you’re in for a treat with a lot to unlock through multiple sessions. Enjoying the hell out of this game, even on the switch. Thought the mouse clicking would get annoying. It does not what so ever. Late night gaming in bed at its best.
They are not doing digital preorders, so it is just going to be listed on the PSN when it is released. I've noticed smaller studios do this, and this is exactly what happened with Cult of the Lamb last year.
Certification issues meant it got put back a week and launches today (26th Oct) on PSN and Switch. Not sure if that just meant they didn't submit it in time to get the original planned simultaneous release
@@drumd00d been playing since early access and sometimes even the default difficulty can be difficult depending on event and encounter outcomes as @NoisyPixelNews mentioned. thankfully there are difficulty settings you can change before each run and are great for learning the in's and out's of the game; but certain challenges may require you to tackle the game at certain difficulties.

I really like the visuals but didn't find any fun in the gameplay. I felt like everything happens in the background and i bearly doing anything. I mean that’s kind of the point it is a roguelike that’s inspired by 80s pc games (so your imagination does a lot of the work) Think of it as a video game version of cabin in the woods that takes place in Japan using their set of horror tropes and mythology.

Man, I remember buying this years and thought it needed a lot of work. I feel like they put a lot of work in but didn't really add much to it all tbh. In fact I don't even remember the UI and visuals looking like this. They look worse.
This game is ruined by the retro aesthetic. I'm personally burnt out on this excuse for devs to be lazy. Everything is low res where they could have used a nice manga aesthetic with better graphics.
I definitely feel you but I just need to say that this game as been developed by only one person. A dentist by day and dev by night. Such a little gem. 👌
As someone that played this game quite a bit, the aesthetic is actually quite good and on the contrary, looks really great on screen. It's very unique with its approach to retro RPG gaming. I believe we as a generation have become too focused on graphics and ignore what makes a game actually work. Presentation.

Same. Just pre-ordered from Target.
Definitely getting the physical version this is going to be a cult classic later on I can feel it

5:14 character definitely based on that classic pic of The Rock.
The character's name is Iwa, which means Rock in Japanese iirc.

Man's weakness: CIGARETTE
5:17 that crazy that they managed to get teenage Dwayne Johnson to star in this

Fun Fact: The creator of the game (Pawel "Panstasz" Kozminski), is a part-time dentist!
I bought this game like 2021? Been waiting for this day to test it
yea i feel like a lot of us did lol
I've been waiting for this game! So excited.
I’m just dying waiting for this to release on the eshop
We unfortunately got another week to wait :(
@NaNoRarh yes it was supposed to come out today but got delayed for a week and is coming out on the 26th.
It is currently out on PC though
Was just wondering this as thought it was released today but not available on the eshop, thanks for clarification
@@christianramos2769 so did I and then I did some digging around and saw it was a last minute delay so here we are 🤷♂️
Update fellas I was getting worried but it just showed up on the eshop with the release date for tomorrow happy gaming

was that recruited follower at the end of the video edited to look like that old picture of dwayne the rock johnson or did homie put that in game?
I tried to find this on the eShop, but it says Summer 2023 with no buy options?

Is it super hard? Seems like the combat could be challenging (which is good), but some games ramp it up, especially some modern RPG’s and horror.
It’s like DND where you kinda roll a dice for affect. Heavy RnG
