I love these and have used them for years, I originally found them when I was working as a designer. I especially love that they are so versatile, and have used them for fine details on really large paintings.
Thanks for the tutorial. I have never tried my inks with straight acrylic paint. Seems like a no-brainer now. Lol. I received your book a few days ago. Love it!! ❤
I just found your channel while searching for what to do with my new acrylic inks. I was disconcerted by them at first since they seemed to be too similar to watercolors (the only medium I don't love as much as others) but now I think I will give them another try. Can't wait to check out more of your videos!
@@RebelUnicornCrafts Did you hear that there is going to be a new BSG? The creator of Mr Robot will be in charge of it. He says it won't be a remake, rather it will be in the BSG mythology universe with totally new stories. The bad news is it will only be on NBC's streaming service.
@@stormtroopercylon5605 WHAT?! I hadn't heard that! I swear the networks are plotting against sci-fi fans to make us have a subscription to everything. Netflix for old Star Trek, CBS for new Start Trek, Disney for Star Wars, Hulu for Orville...and now NBC for BSG. Well now I am excited for that!
The reason I don't like watercolour is that it can look pretty insipid, they're not as permanent as other paints and if you try and paint over watercolour it "reactivates". Acrylic ink isn't like this. Once dry you can paint over it to your heart's content. Also you can dilute acrylic ink with water and it really makes a beautiful wash. Having said all that I mostly use acrylic ink as ink and not as paint.. Black acrylic ink is a great alternative to Indian ink, it flows better and longer from the pen and dries 100% waterproof and smudgeproof which Indian ink should but doesn't always do
THANK ye for this! I was given these random ink bottles that I never used and stored away for many years. I always wondered what they were used for until I saw this video and another person's video that showed similar bottles. I recently tried it out on a canvas and made a colourful ocean with red fish (though the red ink looked like pink) and gave it to my overworked mother as a surprise appreciation gift. Thank ye very much for explainin' this so clearly and welcomin'. May ye have a wonderful autumn! 🦇✨🏴☠️
Thank you. I love your painting - I bought some acrylic inks today and for the first time have used them on a project i am doing - but obviously want to learn how to use them properly. Thank you again.
Love your painting! It was very interesting watching your brush technique. After watching you, I'm going to give these inks a try. I mostly paint with watercolors. I like the transparency you can achieve with the inks.
I’m just getting started with the acrylic inks. Although I have some gold leaf foil, Yes, I’m interested in how you applied the silver leaf foil. 💁🏽♀️
Hi! great video! The final painting looks amazing with the silver leaf. I was wondering, what type of brushes do you use with acrylic inks and how do you clean brushes and palettes used with acrylic inks? Being permanent once dried, would they ruin a watercolor brush? Thanks!
I....have...never....been so perplexed by a question. I just spent almost an hour googling this after thinking "surely, I can figure it out, I like doing internet sluething". Things I found out, the FW line didn't start with Daler Rowney until they bought Steig Products in 1990 for their ink lines. I was able to find one vintage poster that showed Steig products and Daler Rowney. There was a bottle with a logo that just said "FW ink". the FW is trademarked, so I looked that up and it was TM by "Famous Artist Schools" but that expired in 1992.....and there is no other information. You're right, it's NOWHERE to be found on any website. I have to force myself to stop googling this now. Here are my wild guesses.1. The F stands for Famous, no idea on the W. 2. Fine Writing....since most of the original products are focused on writing inks. 3. The FW stands for something within the Steig products. So in short, I have no idea. Let's make a pact that if one of us ever finds out we make sure to revisit this. I think I will be on the hunt from here on out.

It would have been so helpful to know the names of the colors. What good is it to say "so you see how they look on canvas" if one doesn't even know which color is which!

The finished painting is really beautiful!
Thank you for sharing. I recently purchased some acrylic ink but haven't used them yet..
Thank you so much for making this video! I just got some inks and I wanted to see some different ways to use them.

go for it! I'd love to see what you paint! They are fun! Also, your username is awesome! I think I need to rewatch bsg stat!

This is just what I was looking for, thank you!
I'm glad! I hope it helped. I really like playing with my inks!

oooh yes, then I think you'll like this!
Thank you this was very helpful, by the way your art looks really good! ❤️
Thank you so much for creating and posting this video. I am trying to get my head around acrylic inks and this is really helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Just got these. Thank you for teaching
Very welcome!

Can we use them in paint pens? Like posca
Thanks - I just got a set of acrylic inks and thought it would be good to see how others are using them before I open them.
Great tutorial but what are you putting on the canvas?
In the demo painting did you use acrylics mixed with inks?
Thanks for the video. Have you ever used ink over watercolor ground? If so, what did you think?
I have only used watercolor on the ground, but this is an interesting idea! I wonder if it would be more vibrant!
Love the demo thanks. Would you apply the 'thick over lean' rule to these acrylic inks, as you would oil paints?
Can I use watercolors or gouache on top of FW acrylic ink and ink washes?
Are they waterproof when they dry?
I didn't specifically test that, but I was able to do multiple layers on top of each other with water mixed in, so at least some what they are.
Once they dry they are absolutely waterproof.
So, can I use an under painting with water color? Let it dry and then use acrylic inks on top. Does the painting have to be done in one sitting?
What were the colors used in this video? Thank you

I want to use these inks for my fantasy drawing on 300gsm water colour paper from canon.
Did you make the painting with just the inks, or inks plus medium, craft paint, etc?
Thank you! I really enjoyed this video. How do I wash the acrylic ink out of my brushes? I am very new to enjoying art!
Just a little soap and water! I hope you have fun experimenting!
Silver looks good. Could also use a pearl medium or white pearl ink.
Very helpful. Thank you so much !
Happy to help!
Would like to have seen them used with dip pens
Great idea, I'll put it on my list of ideas for testing!
Does acrylic ink produce same effects was watercolor ink or gouache ? When the ink watered down looks a bit like watercolor
It is reminiscent of watercolor, but doesn't have the same effects. It's still super fun!
I use these paints and my white one always splatters out of the dropper like yours did. Only the white does this!
Yes, that one is thicker. I noticed that as time passed since I made this video, the white got more clumpy.
Very helpful. Thanks
