Great video I was watching to see how to take the bracket off without removing the air compressor. You saved me a ton of time, thanks.

Hey, you provided the missing piece of the puzzle. About to change the same compressor out on my LR3 and I couldn’t quite see how that back hose was to be removed. Seems to just be a larger quick connect. Was also on the fence on whether remove the compressor from the bracket, or the bracket altogether. I think I’m going for the bracket now that I see it can be done. Great video! Cheers.

It was a little painful watching the compressor go in before the top cover knowing what a PITA it was going to be for him to squeeze it in after.
Just a note for anyone doing this job, you can buy rebuild kits for the Hitachi compressors, and the cost is nothing compared to buying a new one. Frequently it is just the drying beads that need replacing. As well some of the "aftermarket" compressors you can purchase are upgrades to the original Hitachi, they cost less, work better, are quieter, and generally come with new lines and cover, etc.
All in all, the job is done, and as an LR enthusiast, here is one more person showing that it just takes a little research, and some patience and most anything that needs to be done on these vehicles can be done outside an LR dealership. Good Job!

a common fault of a hairline crack in the frontplate of the compressor chamber can easily and cheaply be remedied by purchase of a billet aluminum replacement from ebay.

Awesome video. Same style same year. Rear air suspension gone! Replaced them by a shop… the ride is hard! Stif prior to that it was bouncing all over the place. I did notice that the pump starts up when I start up the suv. No leaks I searched for them. The suv is in normal range I wonder if the suv needs calibration the mechanic said he did it I think he’s lying.

Not positive, I do have a guy that works for Range Rover. We became friends over my 96 Land Rover of all things. Those are neat for sure. I’ll ask him on Tuesday and update you. Thanks for the views and the comment.

@@mobileheavyequipmentrepair2981 So I spoke to my buddy, he said they sometimes require re-calibration with scan tool, if the service indicator is on or if the ride height is not adjusting. Hope this helps.

Thanks man it’s so weird I think it does need a calibration so when I said it to off-road height which is the highest hide the suv rides flawless. Once I go past 30 miles an hour the SUV goes into normal height and that’s where I feel every bump again I’m not getting any lights on the dash

Very useful to see how the job is done - I have had mine replaced a couple of times now as last time the height warnings started coming on the dash so they changed it under warranty - but we are more aware of the noise now and I wonder if they have over tightened the rubber mountings. How often do you hear the unit come on? Ours seems to be needed every morning we start the car - is that normal I wonder?

    • @eddieellison7679

Tom, I would say they are not over tightened as mine would only go so far before they bottomed out. By design I believe so rubber mounts can move and not be compressed. Its very tight removing the upper and lower halves. They have a foam lining to reduce noise. When I re-installed mine I tore a small portion of the foam off, and it did make the noise increase slightly. What I put in mine was OEM replacement if you didn't use OME (factory) it could run louder for sure. Might check if the covers are new or original as well, sometimes the new ones have less foam and will seem louder. It could also just be at the front of your mind since you've been having problems and just never noticed before. I only notice it running when temps are down but not on initial start up. It is possible you have a leak at the pump or one of the other (4) air bags. Id suggest turning it on letting it air up for a few min, then turn it off and listen for air leaks. Some where quite for sure, simple dish soap and water mixture can be used to check for air leaks. Thanks for watching I hope this helped. If you have any other questions please ask I will help to the best of mu abilities.

Nope, worked like a charm. I’ve heard other did, but it’s the air bags not the pump to my knowledge that would need calibration.
