Thank you for this tutorial, I bought this exact evga xc3 3070 used from a miner and after a year it started running hotter than usual around 82 c°. How are the temps after replacing the paste and pads?

What if i use thermal paste only instead of thermal pads especially the backdoor (not the chip)? Is that still good? How many grams should I take?
You cannot use paste only, because you must ENSURE contact with the heatsink . And you dont have to change the backplate, focus more on the front plate. Someone did a video comparing the change in temperatures, backplate pad change isnt worth it.

You can use whatewer pad you want, but for real measure of each pad, best way is to open the card and see what dimensions you have, they are not always same

Always lower, from example from 8 to 20 C

how much of the 2mm did you use? looks like mainly that and just a little of the 1mm
Buy all measures and be prepared, and then open card and docit without stress. Dont make you stress and open it and dont have enough

I got the 3070 ti xc3 ultra so I need 2mm and 1mm thermal pads that’s it?
Best way is to open card and see what do you have inside

It's good, that card had really good pads from factory also, but after few years of constant work it is good to change, results are better

If i am not mistaken , since this is not gddr6x which is super duper hot, there is scant benefits of changing pads ?
But I did change my thermal pads , because I thought to myself what the hell, it;s a pain in the ass to open the GPU mayaswell change the pads together with thermal paste as well.

Thank you! I ve the same GPU and I'm going to replace thermal pads, did you notice any major improvent in temperatures? im getting close to 80ºC and fans spinning to 80-100%, I hope this solve the problem.
This should improve your temps for sure, when you put quality thermal pads and paste it must be much lower and better.
Pads and paste are one and most important think. If your temps lower it will work better and gives better performance
You should try using phase-change material Honeywell PTM7950. It comes in as a sheet, lasts longer and performs in my experience works better than traditional pastes, and instead of thermal pads give thermal putty Upsiren UX Pro.
It is also good to do undervolting.
Would it make a difference if I used 2x1mm instead of 1x2mm thermal pads?
Yes the heat distribution won’t be accurate try getting the 2mm

I use fehonda 2.25 mm thermal pads everywhere, i use thermalright tf8 ex thermalpaste, but my evga 3070 xc3 is 73-74 degrees((( Before was 68-70. Whyyyy???(((

Probably, but best way is to open and have all kind of sizes of pads and replace
