    Two days of swimming in dot 4 fluid, dropping tiny clips and rubber nipples into the road, and your video finally explains why my cylinder refused to stop leaking. I owe you a beer!

    Thank you, thank you, thank you... at last I finally found your video. I have wasted a whole week on and off trying to stop this leak! My car is a Skoda Octavia with the same set up. Did I say thank you? Oh yes... thank you.

    What should have been an hour or less job took me over 6 hours until someone sent me your video! I wish I had seen your video before I started my replacement job. In addition to wasted time, I also wasted a large bottle -- 32 oz -- of break fluid as I repeatedly removed, replaced, removed, replaced the salve cylinder thinking I was doing something wrong. I almost sent the part back as defective. I am so thankful for your video, Steve! 🍻

    You are my savior. After bleeding the system a handful of times and the clutch pedal gaining/losing pressure this was my issue. Video definitely helped explain how to seat the ring correctly. Again thanks a ton. Now to get my jeep off the side of the road!

    Damn man I knew if I kept researching this I would figure out what is going on. I have been through 3 of these things in the past year. I’ve been pulling my freakin hair out. This is the only video that somebody has addressed this issue. People been looking at me like I got a finger growing out of my forehead. “It shouldn’t be leaking”! Thank u for going over this issue. Ur right it snaps in like it should but without that o-ring it won’t work.

    Good lord man, I'm having this exact problem right now with my rubicon, went through 2 large bottle of dot 4 and have taken out the slave and reinstalled it no less than 10 times. I never pushed the rubber nipple all the way onto the line, I'd just push it on till it felt snug. Gonna do this first thing tomorrow.

    I think I just did the same thing. This PLASTIC JUNK master cylinder in the footwell is seriously the worst job ever. After causing myself all sorts of pain, neck cramps etc trying to get up in there for over an hour, I changed it and put everything back together ... only to then get fluid dripping out of the line. That nipple went flying off, the line was VERY hard to separate, and I definitely didn't snap it back on like that, just kinda placed it nicely. It felt right at the time. Just like in the video. So tomorrow ... take EVERYTHING back apart, and hope that's all it is. When I did the slave cylinder last year, that connector separated real easy, and I didn't have any problems. This one took a serious pry and flew apart.

    What is wrong with FCA coming up with a design like this. What is wrong with a screw and flared pipe setup? Doesanyone know if there is a way to change the slave cylinder to a more rugged setup?

      Did you find out?

    • @fourbypete
      @fourbypete 2 месяца назад

      @@Bw-jz7erNo, not that I know of. The video explains why a lot of people that fix their vehicles at home have problems. Actually the slave cylinder should come with the replacement parts and an itemised list so people know. It probably won't happen because Jeep has filed for bankruptcy.

    Having this problem now, replaced the slave cylinder a month ago and it was working fine until yesterday... leaking from that spot (Clutch all the way to the floor) just ordered the upper line but my question is, does the black plastic piece (the one the bushing attaches to) supposed to stay on the upper hose? Or is it removable because mine is completely off from it, actually brought it with me to the auto parts to see if they had just that piece by itself

      BRETT m check to make sure O RING is properly seated. Also make sure old ORING is out of the hole. It should go in with a little pressure. Once it seats you can push the retainer clip in.

    When I pulled the hydraulic line out of the old slave, there was no little rubber cap. I did it slow are carefully and I'm certain it didn't fly off and roll away. I looked inside and even smashed the slave open with a hammer and it wasn't there. The boot was torn on the old one though. I inserted the line into the new slave, removed the master cylinder cap and pumped it by hand until it had pressure. Then I bolted it up and pressed the clutch about 50 times. Jeep was parked facing up hill. I then put the cap back on and drove it around the block. It works perfectly fine. I checked the slave and no leaks. My question to anybody and everybody is, has anyone experienced this also? Not having the little rubber cap? I haven't driven it far yet so if it starts leaking I know why. But so far so good and it's interesting that there was no cap present. 🤷‍♂️
    Does anyone know the part number for the hydraulic line? Just incase.
