his name is kakizaki, and this particular variant of his valk was shot down by Miria, in one of the most famous scenes in all of macross. Kawamori also paid homage to this scene in Frontier, when Aruto is in a VF-171 and his wingmen are discussing women, and they talk about the "curse of talking about women while in cockpits, you might get shot down."
Wow that figure is sweet. My brother and I used to love the Robotech series. I remember getting the Jetfire toy for Christmas the one year. My dad was fortunate enough to get the last one in the store. I love that toy.
One of the things I would like to see in these toy lines in the future is having an chest cavity that somehow folds out like the cartoon series did. I would also like to see the right arm have slots where the tool repair arms come out like when Roy Focker was helping Rick Hunter with his droid from bullet holes.
I've never been a particular fan of Kakizaki's valks, but damn if that isn't just a gorgeous paintjob and presentation on this one. Cannon Fodder with DYRL head for me though!
To pull off an impressive two hand pose in battroid I collapsed the butt of the gun and forgot to extend it during the video and some later photos. As you can see in GERWALK mode, the gun still functions fine.
I still have Rick Hunter's Valkyrie which I bought in Japan in 1985. This one's more refined and looks better but it's pretty similar overall. Of course the pilot's name is H Ichijoe (which should be Ichijyo), I always wondered who the hell he was until I recently found out.
Those decal are quite neat. Mini Minay brings back memories of the old Nintendo side scroller shooter; where if you die (I think), she bangs the gong when you hit retry. Fond memories...
I still wonder why Bandai could not make articulated fingers. Takara, Tomy and Hasbro have done this in some of their Transformers model with the same scale. I would also like if they added some containers to keep the extra hands and items since I'm running out of drawers to place these, I even lost some.
I was thinking it would be cool if Bandai also added light up features in the head lens area, gun pod, and cockpit of these toys. Similar to KitzConcepts. Even a light up feature for the super weapons gun with the lens.
I really don't like that whole "It's done for symmetry" reason tamashii has for this considering the squadren numbers can barely be seen and the squadren numbers on the leg's stabilizers are properly labeled. It's just so dumb considering this is a premium toy why not label it right?
I would say that Macross’ UN was hiding what happened in Zero to the public, so they claimed the VF-1 was the first instead of the VF-0. Obviously, that changed in Frontier when NUNS revealed information about the Birdman Conflict, even getting a show produced to act out the events for people to see.
@@aguynamedlynx6397 dont even need to go THAT far. Mao Nome is the top researcher on protoculture, and grace works under her, and she adopts sheryl after grace brings her back to the lab. When ordering how to you make sure it's the assembled toy model and not the kit that you have to put together with glue and paint? Are these labelled different?
@@Shirodx Yes, as long as you stick to "DX" you should be fine. Bandai's models were also 1/72 scale so if you see that anywhere, you know it's a model.
