2 Things off the top of my head, i didn't like about the movement animations: - Running getting automatically enabled when i rock my opponent or it getting accidentally enabled when i flicked the left stick twice(I want that to be the lunge, not the running initiator) Running should be initiated by holding L1+ Tapping the left stick twice torward the opponent. - Every Fighter is constantly moving with their signature movement. I wanna see some stifness in movement, i wanna see some walking, not guys like Conor Mc Gregor constantly moving with that Bruce Lee/Kick Boxxing jumping movement. I Also want those fast/fluid movement animations to play out with the pressing and holding L1+ moving around. I don't want it on by default and i don't want it to be the only animation that plays out, especially when you get tired in the later rounds, where this is simply not happening.
Omg....being able to switch between movement types on the fly, combined with taunts will allow so much more expression and personality....I know that sounds weird but I think it’ll increase the satisfaction you get from playing. It is fighting after all. I wish they would go full simulation/realism tbh...maybe an arcade mode for people who aren’t into that thing. The EA UFC series has the opportunity to be the greatest MMA game ever....if not the greatest fighting game ever. I’m buying a console just for UFC 3...can’t wait to play online and ultimate team. 🍻

I agree with all this, another huge thing is the KO's absolutely have to be changed, the way they were in the beta was terrible, the ko's are one of my biggest complaints about the whole game. There has to be realistic ko's added.
Didnt they do the same thing in the UFC 2 beta by having no 'finish the fight' and then did when it released? Dont remember exactly. Also heard thats not gunna be in the final version which makes me hopeful.
In my opinion sometimes making a game to realistic kinda ruins the fun from the game that’s why I don’t complain about look at wwe people kept wanting it to be realistic now it’s dull....now ufc need to be more accurate on a lot of things but still have that fun gaming edge to add more fun

Unfortunately it will never be made again because: 1) MMA is the combat sport that's on the rise 2) Much easier & cheaper to negotiate with Dana White who will give you the rights to put the whole UFC roster in your game than negotiate with boxers and their managers one by one

Agree with everything you said. I also hope those signature animations are available when creating a fighter or for career mode. Almost like how your Nba2k player can have a LeBron James jumpshot, but a Kevin Durant crossover. Or maybe they'd have different animations with different styles. (Wrestlers jab different than a Boxers jab etc.)
Ea needs to hire you bro. I still play undisputed 3 because I feel the new games have striking that too damn easy. And the old grapple system is so simple yet smooth. I still fight Jon jones on ultimate sometimes just for fun.
You say that the striking is too easy, but you want the changes suggested in this video, which would make the striking even easier. 98% of people would be reliant on luck to defend against striking, if these changes were implemented. Also, why would a lunge be a tap forward but a step would require holding forward? I've seen Diaz and McGregor throw basic punches and not their 'signature' punches. I guess, if you want the game to have 0 defense, then these changes would be nice.
One thing that I want to go from the game is when you knock someone out. I don't care about that camera zoom in animation when they're falling to the canvas. I just want the camera to stay the same and the opponent (or you) just falls to the canvas.

this games striking has the exact same feel as ea mma, a game that came out in 2010, and that i cant recall anyone liking, even the fighter hud on ufc 3 is the same, strikes seem so weak, slow, almost too smooth at times if that makes sense, theres no stiffness to any strikes. honestly out of all the ufc games ufc 1 was the best one, the ground game and grapple system was clunky but the striking was very good, more than 3 years later and ea are replicating a game that failed and that is just a ew years off 10 years old

Jefferton Alive in regards to that, if he switched his Stance with Felder it would land on the non moving Tony CPU. You have to really know what your doing. But yes there are mistakes in the game.
Jefferton Alive I know I hate it you can't fight like a Muay Thai fighter or a kickboxer not even a wrestler you have to fight like some gay ballerina Bruce Lee shit (not everyone does all these crazy spin kicks let alone perform it) or like a pure boxer. Lol not everyone is a boxer, and certainly not everyone fights like some fake movie type shit, *however* every successful UFC fighter does wrestling and/or has a background in it, and all of the longest living champions/fighters are experts in Muay Thai.
100% agree, EA needs to make these changes ASAP. It will make the fighters feel more unique with having there signature strikes play out like you said in this video. The kicks i always had a problem with even before watching this video. I feel like they need to add a quicker more snappier body kick. For example you see fighters use combos and end with a body kick with hesitation to there kicks. I feel like the body kicks just have to much wined up especially after a combo or even a simple jab body kick. I know kicks have a lot of damage so to make this work is just have the fast body kicks do less damage. With all these changes in this video would make the striking feel more believable and would bring the striking to a whole different level of realism.
Martial, look into Barboza's Rear Leg Flying Knee, compare it to his actual Dariush Flying Knee finish. There's too much windup, too big starting animation. It seems like he jumps on a trampoline before taking of for the knee.
All the animations look like they’re fighting on ice, their feet look like they’re sliding around mid animation and the whole player object itself weirdly moves around by itself without being synced to the leg and feet animations

As a Tekken geek, im not sold on UFC3 cause not enough was changed. I'm not dropping $60 on this when I have a better fighting game, but I would wait until its on sale.
If you are sold on Tekken or Mortal Kombat type of gameplay, I definitely wouldn't buy UFC 3 or really any EA UFC game from this point forward. UFC 3 is taking huge step towards realism in the striking and I would guess that is only going to grow in the future. EA UFC 2 was probably the last game in the franchise someone like you would enjoy to be honest.
Part of the problem with the striking is what is essentially a force field between you and your opponent, not allowing you to get too close to each other. Aside from making animations awkward, because fighters stay stationary while looking like they should be moving forward, it also fucks with characters with reach/height disadvantage, because the game doesn't let you effectively get/stay on the inside.

I think forcing a pause to throw kicks when circling or moving forward/backwards will also help with the floating issue. Hopefully lunges and sidesteps are improved in the full game, they felt kind of weak in the beta. Good Video.
The animations are locked in though. I don't think EA will change this. If so they would have to cancel their vacations plans just come back to work and re edit the animations system all over again. Great vid btw
I completely agree with the slip and pull counter straights for Conor McGregor or anyone for that matter. They need to delete the short counter animation
Awesome video as usual. I think the primary issue is 'balancing' vs 'realism', some of the discrepancies with hit detection and animation may exist for game play balancing reasons, I'm not sure though. We need to be careful what we change at this point.
Thay need to fix the camera so it don't keep spinning when you're moving, it makes it really hard to run more than 2 steps, judge distances and even walk in the right direction sometimes... just keep the camera as it was in ufc 2, or give us an option to choose camera stiles.
The question mark kick looks pretty bad.. Nate Diaz had it in the beta for some stupid reason xD it looks like one motion instead of a feint from a teep to a vertical roundhouse. The roundhouse is also too horizontal
Finally someone gets it, @Martial Mind I thought I was one of the few who felt that the strikes in the beta felt weak. Even though I would rock my opponent, the strike that actually lead to the rock felt like there was no real weight or power behind it. I also feel that head kicks were far too slow, and hooks being tied to LB(Xbox controls) did not allow them to be thrown fluidly into combinations and as such they were easily blocked. Hooks instead should be tied to the X and Y buttons while moving the left stick, which would allow them to be thrown more fluidly and the same can be said for upper cuts. I fully agree with the animation issues covered, and I really hope EA has time to adjust them before the official release. As always, fantastic video please keep up the excellent work. Kudos by the way on helping to get the stamina system changed to reflect fighter stamina levels as a fight progresses, the implemented change really shows that the devs are listening and that the community voice is being heard.

When the "light" knockdown animation plays near the cage, they should react to it. Like nate did in one of his fights with Conor. Put their had out on it or something.

One animation that would have really been dope that they always slack on is the ref actually pushing the winning fighter off during a TKO.. I wish they would have worked on that.
Agree with all your points mate, except for the one at the end about halting before throwing an overhand while moving left or right. I agree that the halt when moving backwards works great, but this game's animation has been built from the ground up with an emphasis on striking while moving. It was a feature sorely lacking from UFC 2 and I think they've done a great job. To me the overhand looks awesome the way it is currently, I think a quick halt before the punch would defeat the purpose of sidestepping before a big punch, breaking the momentum you've just created.

FINALLY someone with a realistic POV. MMDGAME has gone crazy about this game, ignoring all these flaws which are constantly pointed out. NO VARIETY between fighters at all. In UFC/MMA, every fighter punches, kicks differently. UFC 3 can sit on the shelf in a store as I won't be picking it up... AWFUL.
I think the side overhands of when you're moving to the side of the arm that's throwing the punch looks fine. I'm pretty sure I've seen DC using it. And I think the side moving kicks look fine, too. They're properly goofy. And you move to the side of the swing of the kick and it lands it actually looks great, imo. As to the stepping body jabs, I think thy sort of have to look like that in order to combo. The real life example you showed was of a single strike. I think they're inherently different.
Let me know if this works for you. Also, I never tried any thing but lunging straight shots. Try L1+RS towards enemy > L1+punch and let us know if it works with hooks. Also use the L1+RS back to get out of the way of kicks.
As a fan of mma n therefore the games which represent it , just want to say this video is brilliant. Its the small things. Stances , distance , feints etc that make the difference.
Also I super agree about the animations for the most part bht the overhand while moving sideways doesn't look that bad. I believe I've seen Liddell throw it a few times with one movement and without any real set up though that's sort of a signiture move for him.

I'm very excited to try all of the different fighters and see how they feel.

undisputed 3 is just way better in general I cant bring myself to buy any of the new ufc games after having tried ufc 2 on ea access.

this games striking has the exact same feel as ea mma, a game that came out in 2010, and that i cant recall anyone liking, even the fighter hud on ufc 3 is the same, strikes seem so weak, slow, almost too smooth at times if that makes sense, theres no stiffness to any strikes. honestly out of all the ufc games ufc 1 was the best one, the ground game and grapple system was clunky but the striking was very good, more than 3 years later and ea are replicating a game that failed and that is just a ew years off 10 years old
I think the career mode in this game will be more fun than online.

Cause now we've got a 4th game and it looks and plays terribly. Im thinking about making a video of my own about the issues that EA fails to correct. Jefferton Alive in regards to that, if he switched his Stance with Felder it would land on the non moving Tony CPU. You have to really know what your doing. But yes there are mistakes in the game.

100% agree, EA needs to make these changes ASAP. It will make the fighters feel more unique with having there signature strikes play out like you said in this video. The kicks i always had a problem with even before watching this video. I feel like they need to add a quicker more snappier body kick. For example you see fighters use combos and end with a body kick with hesitation to there kicks. I feel like the body kicks just have to much wined up especially after a combo or even a simple jab body kick. I know kicks have a lot of damage so to make this work is just have the fast body kicks do less damage. With all these changes in this video would make the striking feel more believable and would bring the striking to a whole different level of realism.

Martial, look into Barboza's Rear Leg Flying Knee, compare it to his actual Dariush Flying Knee finish. There's too much windup, too big starting animation. It seems like he jumps on a trampoline before taking of for the knee.

As a Tekken geek, im not sold on UFC3 cause not enough was changed. I'm not dropping $60 on this when I have a better fighting game, but I would wait until its on sale.
If you are sold on Tekken or Mortal Kombat type of gameplay, I definitely wouldn't buy UFC 3 or really any EA UFC game from this point forward. UFC 3 is taking huge step towards realism in the striking and I would guess that is only going to grow in the future. EA UFC 2 was probably the last game in the franchise someone like you would enjoy to be honest.

Part of the problem with the striking is what is essentially a force field between you and your opponent, not allowing you to get too close to each other. Aside from making animations awkward, because fighters stay stationary while looking like they should be moving forward, it also fucks with characters with reach/height disadvantage, because the game doesn't let you effectively get/stay on the inside.

I think forcing a pause to throw kicks when circling or moving forward/backwards will also help with the floating issue. Hopefully lunges and sidesteps are improved in the full game, they felt kind of weak in the beta. Good Video.
The animations are locked in though. I don't think EA will change this. If so they would have to cancel their vacations plans just come back to work and re edit the animations system all over again. Great vid btw

Awesome video as usual. I think the primary issue is 'balancing' vs 'realism', some of the discrepancies with hit detection and animation may exist for game play balancing reasons, I'm not sure though. We need to be careful what we change at this point.
Thay need to fix the camera so it don't keep spinning when you're moving, it makes it really hard to run more than 2 steps, judge distances and even walk in the right direction sometimes... just keep the camera as it was in ufc 2, or give us an option to choose camera stiles.

The question mark kick looks pretty bad.. Nate Diaz had it in the beta for some stupid reason xD it looks like one motion instead of a feint from a teep to a vertical roundhouse. The roundhouse is also too horizontal
Finally someone gets it, @Martial Mind I thought I was one of the few who felt that the strikes in the beta felt weak. Even though I would rock my opponent, the strike that actually lead to the rock felt like there was no real weight or power behind it. I also feel that head kicks were far too slow, and hooks being tied to LB(Xbox controls) did not allow them to be thrown fluidly into combinations and as such they were easily blocked. Hooks instead should be tied to the X and Y buttons while moving the left stick, which would allow them to be thrown more fluidly and the same can be said for upper cuts. I fully agree with the animation issues covered, and I really hope EA has time to adjust them before the official release. As always, fantastic video please keep up the excellent work. Kudos by the way on helping to get the stamina system changed to reflect fighter stamina levels as a fight progresses, the implemented change really shows that the devs are listening and that the community voice is being heard.
You forgot to mention the weaving roundhouse anim, theres hardly any weave in it now compared to ufc 2.

I love the new striking mechanics and animations - there are some of them that could be patched up, but I LOVE that they nerfed the clinch - which is BIG upgrade from UFC 2!
I cannot wait for this game to come out to see how each weightclass is different in terms of gameplay mechanics!

Agree with all your points mate, except for the one at the end about halting before throwing an overhand while moving left or right. I agree that the halt when moving backwards works great, but this game's animation has been built from the ground up with an emphasis on striking while moving. It was a feature sorely lacking from UFC 2 and I think they've done a great job. To me the overhand looks awesome the way it is currently, I think a quick halt before the punch would defeat the purpose of sidestepping before a big punch, breaking the momentum you've just created.

FINALLY someone with a realistic POV. MMDGAME has gone crazy about this game, ignoring all these flaws which are constantly pointed out.
NO VARIETY between fighters at all. In UFC/MMA, every fighter punches, kicks differently.
UFC 3 can sit on the shelf in a store as I won't be picking it up... AWFUL.
I think the side overhands of when you're moving to the side of the arm that's throwing the punch looks fine. I'm pretty sure I've seen DC using it. And I think the side moving kicks look fine, too. They're properly goofy. And you move to the side of the swing of the kick and it lands it actually looks great, imo.
As to the stepping body jabs, I think thy sort of have to look like that in order to combo. The real life example you showed was of a single strike. I think they're inherently different.
There's also a Nate Diaz glitch in the game, that gets you knocked out with a kick to the Arm Pit, and it's ridiculous

Let me know if this works for you. Also, I never tried any thing but lunging straight shots. Try L1+RS towards enemy > L1+punch and let us know if it works with hooks. Also use the L1+RS back to get out of the way of kicks.
As a fan of mma n therefore the games which represent it , just want to say this video is brilliant. Its the small things. Stances , distance , feints etc that make the difference.

Also I super agree about the animations for the most part bht the overhand while moving sideways doesn't look that bad. I believe I've seen Liddell throw it a few times with one movement and without any real set up though that's sort of a signiture move for him.
