Thanks for this I got a Softbox by a different supplier that came with no assembly instructions. Your instructions put me on the right path - thanks

I disassemble the softbox this way. I put it on the floor with the base down and first two spokes on a sofa or armchair, step on the base with my foot so that the first two spokes bend even more. Then the tension of the fabric weakens and the second two spokes are removed without difficulty.

After experimenting with different holes in the speed ring, I think that you are supposed to use the four holes labeled with the number 1. This spreads the softbox in the most smooth, taut way, without making it misshapen.
Using some holes labeled with 2 does not keep the softbox open as wide as it should.

Thanks for this as there are no instructions with the. Other posters are right that number 1 slots all round is most effective. Still very fiddly though and not really practical for a portable studio set up where time efficiency is important.

Yes - I also came to the conclusion the four holes labelled 1 (shame its not labelled on both sides). I know these things have to be taught but really they are awful to put together. Their big soft boxes with multiple rods are awful - almost impossible to put together. I can't understand how they can't make a better design ( I know its traditional etc - but its daft). It just needs to create the shape, it doesn't need to be so frustrating.

yeah I have Neewer ones that fold up and down like an umbrella. Its more engineering of course. This is the cheap way out for them

I have a Meike. One side has a velcro hole, so it's easy to put together. Godox uses a very bad solution...
