LYRICS
Hear ye, hear ye,
Friends and romans, countrymen
Hear ye, hear ye,
Punks and folks and journeymen
Hear ye, hear ye,
My sisters and my brethren,
Our time is coming near.
So come ye, come ye
To soulless corporate circus tops,
Come ye, come ye,
To toilet circuit touring stops,
Come ye, come ye
To bedrooms, bars and bunker squats,
The sound is ringing clear
And who'd've thought, after all, something as simple as rock 'n' roll would save us all?
Who'd've thought that after all it was rock n roll.
Hear ye, hear ye,
Anybody could take this stage,
Hear ye, hear ye,
And make miracles for minimum wage,
Hear ye, hear ye,
Our folk songs for the modern age
Will hold us in their arms
Right here, right now,
Elvis brings his children home,
Right here, right now,
You never have to feel alone
Right here, right now,
Teenage kicks and gramophones,
We hold them in our hearts.
And who'd've thought, after all, something as simple as rock 'n' roll would save us all?
Who'd've thought that after all it was rock n roll.
I still believe in the saints
In Jerry Lee and Johnny, and all the greats
I still believe in the sound
That has the power to raise a temple, and tear it down
I still believe in the need
For guitars and drums and desperate poetry
I still believe that everyone
Can find a song for every time they've lost, and every time they've won
So just remember folks we're not just saving lives, we're saving souls and we're having fun.
Now who'd've thought that after all, something so simple, something so small,
Who'd've thought that after all it was rock 'n' roll?

Love Frank seen him like 4x incl this tour when I 1st discovered him. Great performer, always a fun show.
I was at this show and after watching this I agree that we (the crowd) sucked! That was the first time I saw Frank Turner and I'm a huge fan. He's coming back in a couple of months and I for one am going to kick it up a notch!
Dont get how some people can criticise this man. And also ive met far too many american people that wont give this guy a decent chance in their minds because he is english.
Frank's songs are intelligent and meaningful. He is always one of the nicest guys I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He played a key part in the UK hardcore and rock scene with Million Dead (back when British rock topped American rock in almost every way). He always puts on a great show with a great atmosphere
this guy means what he is singing!
true legend
Turner has the same love, passion and appreciation for the historical context of Rock and Roll as Springsteen and the rest of the greats. Doff your cap to genius when you see it folks.
I love Frank Turner so much. His vocals are amazing.
Yes!! I believe in Frank Turner!!
i've seen Frank Turner 3 times now, and each time has been someone of the bess gigs i have ever been too. The guy is a genius!
I believe in you Frank Turner
this is the most talented man i saw this last 10 year
This whole album is amazing
Love that I've seen this live twice in one week, this guy is a fucking legend!
see you tonight in Stuttgart !!!!!!!!! can't wait....
i cannot wait to see him this summer, will be so good!
fell in love with rise against back in like '05, saw a noncert n '07 i thin it was with TGA, discovered Brian Fallon of course thru that. found chuck ragan from that connection, and now im discovering frank turner from all of that. this song is amazing because it makes all that great mmusic come full circle. whole family loves Cash, grandmother loves Springsteen, i love social distortion and all the rest, and the thing i love about all of them is they all GET IT! this music is why im alive today
This man is a genius.
wow this rocks!
O_O Amazing.... First time I ever listened to this guy and now I'm never gonna stop :)
This guys coming to town in a few days, seems like I should see him :) He reminds me quite a bit of Bragg, good thing that.
Very good message! This guy is sincere.
i could have yelled i still believe louder than the whole crowd!
That's rock-n-roll!
I judge people by their decisions rather than their situations.
i can't believe i'd never heard this song before! love the lyrics x)
Wish I could have been there ...
saw these guys in Toronto with Social D.... really fucking awesome.
He's such a fucking master.
awesome...
Punks and skins !!!!
2:07 This smile represents how much he love music
Great song great expression
incredible rock and roll song played with passion. i saw them with social d in washington and the crowd was floored by this guy. this crowd is from arizona... and.. we'll.. enough said, right?
Also not sure if some people here a joking. But this song to me is about keeping good, honest and pure music alive. It is a catalyst chant against everything wrong with music today. Auto tune, Throwaway lyrics, cruddy electronics.
Booked my tickets to see him!
amen to that
now those are saints that i can believe in: joe strummer, johnny cash, mike ness, and all other rock n roll greats playing a simple kind of music
Nice to meet you Mr. "Punkiest guy on earth"
damn another person i have to fall in love with
In a world filled with autotuned corporate a**holes that we're ment to call 'musicians', Frank Turner is somebody we can BELIEVE in. He is like @immaru said with that great comment, a Rock and Roll Poet, an honest man who speaks his mind and doesn't care if you disagree. Thankyou Frank for keeping Rock N Roll alive and well, as well as some other genres too. I STILL BELIEVE in Rock N Roll and I STILL BELIEVE IN YOU! Keep rocking man and keep up the great work. Thanks Frank :).
he said "Lucero"? He belives in Lucero? The band? I loved this man, now I belive in Frank Turner! (and in Lucero, they are amazing)
i love how passionate he seems during his performance even though, as one person said, the crowd was lame.
This is better than the original version :D
Fucking awesome
omg i wish i couldve gone :(
You'll actually find out that Mike Ness got in touch with Frank personally, and asked him to open their shows for them. True story.
the hold steady
Prime example.
@rastablues1 Good to know. Been nice chatting with you.
WHAAAAT THIS WAT AT THE RIALTO? FUCK I SHOULD'VE WENT I LIVE IN TUCSON LIKE 15MINS AWAY!!!! CAPSLOCK WOOOOO
@jessemaurais I think it's Sumerian. If you wanna look it up/find out about it, it's called Ama-gi. Generally thought to be the first written expression of the concept of Liberty. Cool stuff.
@RinzRingtail I haven't heard of them actually! Guess I'll have to check them out =)
"Keyboards" and "The Hold Steady", LOL
lmao
Leeds fest 2011, here i come
Yeah; He could do this solo acoustic TT the Bears in Cambridge a couple of years ago. The real thing.
D-Did he mention Lucero? As in the band from Memphis? Wow o_o
@RinzRingtail According to the description this was while supporting them and Social D, so I guess he did! ^^
this man is everything that is wrong with music
@Northey85 me 2 did you see him with sd?
what's the band he names after Johnny Cash in the beginning??
Fucking wounderfull song
17 People thought, that was the download button
The idea behind this song is to get people together and get them having fun using music and dancing. Rock and roll (or whatever you music preference) has the power to save us all by brightening and exciting a monotonous life of cynicism. This, by no means, is his entire purpose in life and he obviously believes in other things. But really, what is stupid about that whole idea? Unless you don't like music at all... but more likely, you just happen not to like this particular bit of music. Silly.
@kevekman and at @3:02 aww he's just so happy :D
That would be the reason the consumers buy into the kind of music I assume you're talking about. It's only a very small idea behind the creation of the music in the first place, if you understand music as an industry. I don't have anything against the music in question anyway. If it makes people happy, fucking let them be happy. The fact that the industry is monopolised by a select few individuals with almost strictly monetary interests does bother me but that's a different story.
@colintron me too, i'm judging him on his DECISIONS to go to Eton, to study at the London School of Economics and his decision to give that cliche / forced speech before his song to get a few cheers, cheap.
Is that Sumerian text on his arm?
yeeahh social distortion
@holmeslaw666 I'm sure he did have a pretty good idea about "Social fuckin distortion". Just because somebody is intelligent and was educated at an expensive school/college doesn't mean they're all capitalists or rich bastards who don't give a shit about the rest of us who are working class. Fuck, if anyone is working class it's Frank, based on how hard he has WORKED to get where he is now. Eton doesn't give you a passion for making music like this man does.
@amywadsworthX my apologies for having and expressing an opinion on the video & artist. What the hell's Justin Bieber got do with anything?
KEYBOARDS
THE HOLD STEADY
@SlickRickLP no excuse. I'm sure Frank gave them the singing lesson like he always does lol
@Casettejongen I saw them live once; they used to be pretty good o.o
37 people don't believe in rock and roll.
@homleslaw666 do you really think education has anything to do with someone's love for music? If he went to Eton or not, the guy can write a song better than us two ever could. I've met him a number of times, he's a real nice lad too. If your not a fan of his material, just don't listen to it.
KANYE! KANYE !
@whipchorus Listen to some of his other music then? Definitely not a clichéd load of rubbish. Give him a chance.
he loves stupids, he loves you !
@chrisianburton Joe Strummer was privately educated, not a problem with that, but this fella is from another world, Eton! alongside royalty. I just think Francis is fake & has no business singing about "punks & skins" and what working class music is, he isn't naturally pissed off, just not buying his Billy Bragg attempt at all. You think this guy had any idea what "Social fuckin Distortion" was in 1996? Look at his last band Million Dead, total trend follower. Reminds me of Charlie from Busted.
Excluding his education and all that shit you're going on about, he is a singer/songwriter, why can't you just respect the fact that he's getting up there and giving it his all? It's the same with Justin Bieber, everyone being cunts about him when he's trying, that's coming from someone who dislikes his music. At least he's not sat at home like all of us commenting on this, have some damn respect from those who are fucking better than you, and this applies to not only you, but me.
The idea behind this song is to get people together and get them having fun using music and dancing.
thats also the idea of the music i bet you have a superficial sense of superiority over
@holmeslaw666 So if the opportunity presented itself to you would you not want to get the best education possible? Remember you cannot choose where or what you are born into, only what you become.
yea i dont
@rastablues1 So it's classic and kinda cheesy...
What's really wrong with that?
Also, maybe the singer knows what artists his audience will relate to because they're his influences, and if they like him they probably like those artists as well.
I just don't see what's wrong with it, it's cheesy, sure, but it's fun.
I bet people like this were slagging off the proponents of our modern numeral system back in 5th century India, "yeah I still reckon we can get along with just words for one, two and many". Ergo, Frank Turner is basically against civilisation and progress.
this crowd sucks. watch him perform this song at reading festival, we gave him the response he deserves for the music he makes!
Wow, why the crowd is so lame? At concert in Poznan, there were no more than 100 of us and we did much more noise than those people... Shame on them!
@rastablues1 Why is it manipulative and stupid?
Frank Turner ist KEIN Pfusch an der Musik!
@theroundman9 Rot with your hipster wannabe rock. Cheers mate!
Gay isn't an insult. It's a sexuality. Nice try at an insult though.
Come on man, really? Clueless and talentless? I think you need to listen to more of this guy's music if that's what you truely believe.
@leoofbodom not at all, READ what i said about Strummer. I just don't think he's believable, he looks / sounds / presents himself like a posh student geek to me. No attitude / edge to him. As a side note, and more importantly...his music isn't that good.
@JackWilliamsChannel still a weak song, baby music
i believe in white people!!! :)
Song wasted on the yanks ,they still don't get it.😢
Really good band, shit crowd :/
i don't believe him at all, fraud
What a load of cliched rubbish
