My usual solution is to bung the brick into a secondary slot and plug something not-Nvidia in as the primary card - it might show how often I've done this that I keep an ancient ATI (yes, pre-AMD!) Radeon x1300 (passive, slot powered) card in the tool box for just this.
    Then boot up windows and fire up nvflash. No it doesn't matter at all that Windows doesn't recognise the card, just that nvflash does see something flashable (this is why AMD card, nvflash won't see it).
    This is also why the toolkit has an old x58 BIOS based board that boots up straight DOS - very occasionally this is the only way to get the card recognised by nvflash. My experience is NV cards are really hard to brick without actual hardware failure - and yes, I've flashed/bricked a revA quadro with a revB Quadro firmware and resurrected it in 20 minutes with the correct bios.

      @@SalandFindles Agreed. Even if AMD comes in slightly below Nvidea that will likely be my route. I'm more concerned with power and heat than excess FPS. If it runs UE5, Blender, and Fusion 360 well enough with less heat and power then I'm all in. Otherwise I need to build a case that doubles as a filament dryer and pool heater to justify the heat management.

    If Jay had actually bothered to check the MEM temperature, you would see it is higher than most air cooled cards except the FE. MSI uses an AIO style block with a plate that extends to the RAM, unlike full coverage blocks with channels over the RAM and VRM. Doesn't mean it isn't still a great card in terms of noise, size, and performance, nor that the memory runs too hot, it just isn't what you might except given the drop in GPU temps.

NVidia is at fault because they pushed certain aspects of the cable and power, if you didnt think they were involved then you are just simply not looking at things realistically. If you are stupid enough to buy a 4090 just for gaming, congrats you probably also want to show off expensive crap to make yourself feel better over people rather then actually caring about it. Far to many people buy 4090s to feel better about themselves compared to others rather then actually needing one. That mindset always ends up being toxic, and maybe one day you will see but i highly doubt youll get your head out of your ass.

    This is honestly how ALL 300W+ TDP card should look like. Even better if they would get rid of the small fan and make it single slot. VRM really does not add that much of heat and the only reason why it is done is because they penny pinching on making custom cold plate to cover whole card. Water cooling is the only way to go with such cards... Fury X did the right thing and that was amazingly cool and quiet card despite being thermal beast (sadly it wasn't very competitive otherwise). I had pleasure to own Strix OC LC 6900XT and I have never seen temperature climb past 50C and most of the time fans would not even turn! That is how it should be! Not the stupid 4 slot PC sizes idiotic monsters like reference 4080s and 4090s.

      @lp9280 Год назад

      @@drkastenbrot What a load of BS! I had Fury X since it was launched and did absolutely no extra maintenance. Sure maybe some dust accumulates on the radiator and fan which applies to anything, but in this case is much easier to access and clean! I have 6900XT water cooled for over a year now, again no maintenance whatsoever.... in fact I didn't even have to clean the fan/radiator because 80% of the time fans don't even spin, so dust simply doesn't accumulate as quickly.
      I guess for custom loop that maybe an issue, but even then... unless you want to change the colour of the loop or you purchased bad quality dye and it degraded... it pretty much never needs any maintenance.
      So what you talking about is BULLSHIT... water requires way less maintenance than air, not more... and in case of AiO it is maintenance free.

      @@drkastenbrot on custom loop... even then if you have suitably sized reservoir this will likely outlast any system (i.e. 5 years+) and even then it is as simply as adding distilled water into reservoir.
      AiO in my experience is maintenance free as no maintenance was required well after Fury X became obsolete (8 years)... it still spins to this day and performance is more than adequate (in fact I don't think it degraded at all).
      Again - seems like your experience is nothing more than rumours and exaggerations.
      I can agree that custom loops may require some maintenance, but that in comparison is less than cleaning dust stuck in air cooled GPUS... what is even worse is that many requires removal of entire cooler just to clean the dust (especially reference designs) and they are way worse than water cooling maintenance when you have to repaste and replace pads on GPU.
      So all in all - the statement that water requires more maintenance than air only applies in some very specific circumstances and on balance of probability is unlikely.

      PS: at 5:20, you show how you might mount it in front ...I really don't recommend that.
      Don't mount it with the tubes at the top of the rad. You only need to leak (evaporate) a tiny amount of fluid to stop the fluid flow if the tubes are at the top of the rad.
      You probably re-build and upgrade too often to notice this, but most people don't. I'd mount that on top, with tubes coming down to the card. And just put your cpu rad in the front of the case.
