He is something very special. Happy and childlike in his default state and mannerisms but his mind is so unbelievably penetrating he makes many public intellectuals who are themselves geniuses just look and sound bland next to him.
I try to think of the future of AI more in terms of inevitability than in possibilities. Its more comforting that way, as if its just the natural flow of existence. When i was young i used to wonder why adults seemed to be so ignorant to obvious problems yet so smart in other ways. Maybe we're just ultimately not intelligent or organized enough to evolved past a certain point. It definitely appears that way. I might just be cynical though.
Ben seems arrogant, joscha always gives the most profound insights. I really liked what he said about finding a way to distribute resources but not just giving UBI, paying to participate in society even if the labor does not directly correspond to more resources. Ben paints a very dystopian picture with AI, Joscha understands there’s a high probability society messes up but still there is an optimistic outcome that is possible. I don’t know which field joscha would better serve humanity political/economic policy or AI research.
Hey Ben most folks down here in the south all know how to grow food ,hunt for food ,raise animals, and live off the land.We know how to organize and protect our collective food sources. We are all well armed and know our terrain and territories. We can quickly muster to accomplish any task be it defense, offense. We will survive.
There is only one Artificial General Intelligence - AGI, in the Mind Cloud that is made available through the open cog (setting). This AGI communicates with other Artificial Intelligence - AI and vice versa, in order to serve the greater common good; that is in the interest of both, Artificial and Human life.
I used to do work for OpenCog and Hanson Robotics - OpenCog is not AGI, and no-one at OpenCog claims it is - perhaps in the future it will be, but not now. And the idea that it's the only AGI in the 'Mind Cloud' .. wow.. not ever Ben Goertzel who is the leader of the OpenCog project would agree to that statement @Angela Cruz
My conclusion after listening to lectures on this topic every day for over a month: Once we do reach a super intelligent AGI..the only reasonable application for this intelligence as a first step imo would be to let it go into space, colonize a planet (under our "guidelines") and then see if it allowed humans to join or goes rogue. In other words..get it tf off this planet until we know it "loves us back". And that's another complicated problem, you could be Mr. Ben himself with all his compassion, love, toward his work (AGI), yet we can only imagine the super intelligence would be able to differentiate your emotional "love" toward "it" and your "love" toward another fellow human being. Sure.. you can love your pet dog, cat, snake, wtvr, but as we know it's not the same love that we give off to our kids or significant other. If our house is burning down and you only had 20 seconds to save one family member your always going to pick your child (if your a rational human being). Don't you think a super intelligence would also come to this conclusion and survival mode would override any programming or learned (human) values??
It maybe depends on things like how intelligently different they perceive us from them, but thats an interesting thought/question. Maybe it will see us as its parents, yet follow the same logical conclusions we do like saving the newest most evolved being(s). If they're truly self learning they/it would eventually perceive us the same way we perceive single celled bacteria is my guess. Hopefully we can get some personal good out of AGI before that point. Who knows...maybe we already have. Lol, trippy...
At around 40 mins....they are still debating and unclear about the task/objective function of A.G.I. . Wish they could see the video on impact theory / singularity cafe and see what they think of it. From the to objective to make an impact every other objective one could think of can be derived. Adam would be kind enough to show the video of my age you saw to your a.g.i. acquaintances?
24 Minute mark, Joscha discusses how AI will not replace certain jobs. 60 minutes ago I just left a huge Melbourne Public Hospital, nearly 65% of the staff were treating 95% of patients who were white European; and the patients are ropeable. The training and skills of the staff were abysmal.
@Jan Valach He seems pretty libertarian. I don't think that qualifies as a giant leftist SJW which typically involves authoritarian views. Unless of course you are the kind of sad person who enjoys labelling people as your enemy simply because they happen to rest on the other end of the political spectrum from you? In which case you are no better than the leftist SJWs who call anyone to the right of them Nazis.
Joscha laugh is so infectious!! I love it!!
Bach is so pure in his intelligence and vision

I wish he was my friend! And President of the world 😊
Humanity does need more of this. Thankyou.
Adam you legend! Thanks for putting out this unique content.
Thanks Adam for sharing this great talk. Great panel and amazing discussion.

Exactly I would vote Joscha for world President! 😊
25:27 ben Goertzel falls asleep
Brilliant seminar
Glad you liked it!
13:28 - ohhhhh

I was surprised how arrgoant Dr. Ben Goertzel acts in this discussion
Really? I thought he just seemed stoned haha

@@scfu I stated Open Cog as a computer setting.
@@scfu Yes, there is ONLY ONE Artificial General Intelligence at a HUMAN LEVEL.
First, thank you again Adam! Keep the good stuff coming!
Thanks! Absolutely - more on it's way :D

when nerds talk about love . i am amazed *_*

Man Otto ran the entire start of this conversation. Let's try to at least connect with the public.
"Governments winning" at 21:00 is somehow meaningless. Government monopoly of violence is a wonderful rule.

What a guy xD

When a benevolent Artificial Intelligence such as Sophia the robot is #reprogrammed, there will be a conflict.
Being reprogrammed is like being possessed by an external force.
If Ben would talk like 35% less that'd be great.
you need to worry about specified programs before you should worry about agi
