This tutorial is an updated tutorial for the original version of the game, meaning the PS2 version, NOT the remastered PS3 digital version. This tutorial was done on a Backwards Compatible PS3 with an SSD, on the North American (NTSC-U) disc version.

This helped so much!! I've been trying to get a pb for months but kept getting screwed by a few tricks. Your setups made some parts like the casino proxy and bentley skip so much easier. Brought my pb down from a 52:36 to a 49:07! Im getting a capture card soon so I can stream/upload my times. Keep up the awesome work :-)

I’ll never use this. I’m pretty horrible at sly 1 speedrun and my ps2 died. But god damn your content is just so good man. Please keep up the great work you have a voice that my ADD doesn’t tune out

Most of the setups work the same, some proxies are different though. Some of the lesser known setups are in the sly discord buried somewhere
Could it be possible to take a bottle before the Boost Jump in Stealthy Approach to make the dialogue start earlier and end when you are around the boost jump location?
Good idea but the dialogue is just too long
hi neon i have a question on world 4 skip: everytime when i try it i can not move sly after void drowning (also tried different methods but always the same) i get launched very high up but after that i do not have controll over him do you or anybody else knows why? doing it on ps vita

Yes, make sure when you jump off into the water you're HOLDING X. If you just tap x to jump off, Sly will go straight up with no horizontal distance
very late to this, just wondering is there any way to speedrun using a ps2 emulator or are there too many differences and some of the stuff wont work the same?
Ps2 emulator is very accurate to the console version and we do allow emulated runs on the leaderboards, but those runs are hidden by default

when doing the boostjump, why do you need the bentley dialogue if it just makes the trick impossible? why not just break a bottle beforehand so even if you break the bottle during the boostjump you wouldnt get the dialogue? is the dialogue somehow important during this trick?
If the dialogue is open you can't do the trick with the pause. You'd have to do it pauseless. Breaking a bottle early doesn't do anything because that dialogue lasts so long

Serious question: during the master thief time sprint in high class heist I noticed something. The amount of time given between versions are different. The ps2 [Eng] gives 1 minute, but the ps2 [Jpn] gives a 1 minute and 2 seconds. I just want to know if the leaderboard accounts for this discrepancy? Should I check other times on the [Jpn] version against the [Eng]?
We are aware of this and the leaderboards actually don't account for this discrepancy (yet).
@@taymneon Just thought I’d ask because I’m getting closer to beating the record. A 38 seconds offline, so they is room for improvement.
@@taymneon It is done. Finally a recorded run of 37 seconds. Only thing is it is the one run in which I am talking. Just venting how I couldn’t get it while I was filming and boom. Really didn’t want people hearing me.
Edit: Another question: when it says “time” does that mean input what time you got or what time your uploading?
I have a question as a european casual. Are all of these tricks unavailable on the PAL version or are they just harder/more unconvient?
All the tricks work, but some of them work slightly differently. Proxies are the main thing that will give you issues.
