The twelve string sounds especially authentic.
Thank you. The Fender 12 is a lovely guitar. At the time of recording I had only recently bought it on eBay, the action was a little high and I didn’t want to risk lowering it myself and messing up the intonation right before we recorded), so I tuned it down to Eb and stuck a capo on 1st fret, worked a dream.
Just a straight DI into mic pres, it’s like instant Stairway without even trying 😊

Use a strat for the solo and you've got it, tele is too thin...
Jimmy page used a tele so I thought id do it the same way as the original. Check the full remake video and you can hear me explain the full process 👍

@@lNllClK if you know guitar tones I can tell you with 110% certainty it’s not a strat
Sounds too bright, maybe the wrong valco amp, did you turn the tone knob down on the guitar at all?
@@lNllClK you should hear the raw outtakes of Jimmy playing it if you want bright. You gotta go some to match it 100%, the aim is just to get in the ballpark
