I'll admit architecture isn't my forte, but I've been trying to do a lot of research for one of my stories and I needed to create a house with a lot of history. Basically the protagonist knows way more about architecture than I do so I need to at least make what he says sound believable and have the comic pages showing the house showcase exactly what I'm going for.
This video was exactly what I needed because I wanted to go for an Italianate design, but I was worried that having a more mansard second empire style roof would make it no longer Italianate. I'm happy you showed at least one design that was both Italianate with a mansard roof because that helped a lot!
Going to check out any other videos that could potentially help with my research and giving a like for how helpful this was.

So what is in the little third story room in some Italianate houses? Bell tower? Organ loft?

A cupola leading to the inside of the tiny roof for nature views. I think?
