I see the one poltergeist card is different from the image on the KS page where it's move+2 swords, and now it's move or 2 swords! Big change, but I see why as move and 2 melee is huge.
Playing on Tabletopia (as the physical copy isn't here yet), the slimes really do need to throw heroes in the cell more often than any of the other monsters available in that version as you burn through a lot of defense cards and have few cards left so feel obliged to toss that hero in the cells to draw 3 more. Their special ability of drawing a card for each activation isn't great in their default deck, with only type of card with that icon, and it's 2 moves or one activation so I also try to get them more activations from crafting; the spider (draw 1 + 2 activations) is great for them!

      Agree with everything!
Throwing heroes in jail is really something you need to get used to in this game as it feels a bit counterintuitive 😅

I'm just learning to play, but at 24:30 wouldn't the archer reactivate the rouge in the bottom right corner so they would loot the chest together?
Nevermind. You just corrected it, a few moments later :D

Did I miss something at 15:20? It looked like the card you played was move -or- attack twice rather than move -and- attack twice. Was there another play that I missed?
You had an absolutely brutal first couple turns of monster spawns though. woof.

Crap, you’re right 🤣. It was ‘or’ not and. Good catch!
I guess forgetting there’s a wall between the 2 bottom right rooms wasn’t the only mistake I made 😅.
But yeah this game can be swingy in both directions. Definitely like it because of it though!

@@somanygamessolittletimesmg7725 I finished the playthrough. This was really helpful! You got into some rules corner cases that it was pretty useful to see. I appreciate the good annotations on any rules errors and you taking time to double check rules along the way. Now when I hit the same cases, I'll have at least seen it before :)
I feel like the game was really out to get you this time around. Some real brutal moments throughout. Even though I think you still would have won if the last event had flipped a Mage, I definitely shared your relief when it came up as something else!

      @@Reverie42 Thanks!
I realised that throwing heroes in jail is definitely necessary as it makes the game a tiny bit easier even through there’s a trade-off.
I have another playthrough coming, this time a 2-player one with randomly chosen monsters. It was a special experience. I’ll soon post an in-depth review of the game as I feel I’m getting a pretty complete idea of what it has to offer.
Maybe I’ll try the Chronicle mode first… 😅

@@somanygamessolittletimesmg7725 Awesome, will definitely check that out.
The EV if throwing things in the cells seems pretty high. It's straight value if you hit an event card, and if you assume that it costs on average 1-2 cards to solve a hero, it's definitely plus value. The problem is that you need to either trap near the cells or execute the heroes you put there, which means you need to get there (I don't think I've ever seen anyone just murder hobo the captured heroes, presumably because going to heroes is expensive, but maybe there are monsters where that's a reasonably strategy?). I think it's a good mechanism that is much more balanced than it appears at first, or even second, glance.

at 1:00:11, shouldnt the warrior reactivates every other heroes in the vault? :x Unless I've been making this game harder for myself...
Just got this game and got utterly demolished in my 1st play through,
also i dont think defend card works against archer's special ability? it says in the rulebook it activates when a hero attacks in the same room?

    • @somanygamessolittletimesmg7725
      @somanygamessolittletimesmg7725  2 года назад

About the warrior, yes and no 😅. No, because he should have never left the room as the treasure wasn’t looted yet.
Yes, if the treasure had been looted before 😅.
It’s pretty difficult especially the first couple of plays. Throwing people in jail definitely makes it easier.
The archer thing could be correct yeah 😅, woops! Good catch 👍🏻.

I think the poltergeist can only move through walls, If you use your special/activation action, not If you use your normal move action. You do that at 09:00. (Maybe you missed, that there is a wall, that happened to me, too)

Yeah I did, I realised it later 🫠🫠. In future games I’m going to slightly put the tiles apart or find some other way to make the walls clearer. Too bad though because I really enjoyed this monster combo 😁.

This game seems great in many ways. I love the game mechanic, graphic and the asymmetric co-op gameplay. Almost perfect for me playing with my 7 and 5 yo.
"Almost" because there is one thing I can't really understand. What is the logic of putting hero into cell?
When I saw there is a cell, I thought this could be very interesting to put a defeated hero in the cell, and squeeze any benefit out of him.
But from what I have understood so far ... A player can just put a randomly drawn hero, popped from nowhere, into the cell at the player's will anywhere anytime?
The is to serve the purpose to offer players chances to push their lucks, but it just doesn't make sense to me and I hate to say it very much because I really want to like the whole game.
Please let me know if I have got it wrong. Or if there is a good reason or logic that makes such mechanic.

    • @TheGroeby

Maybe you could explain it with a trap door. The players are luring a random hero onto a trap door (maybe outside of the dungeon), but If it is Gandalf he will free everyone sitting in the trap.

    • @somanygamessolittletimesmg7725
      @somanygamessolittletimesmg7725  2 года назад +1

Yeah that sounds like a good explanation! The one that I came up with is that it’s a fake entrance to the dungeon that stupid heroes fall for. The mages however, who are a lot smarter, see through this and manage to break everyone out easily 😅.
