1:32 the jury always put Malta in their top 10 in the semi final, even if they send really bad songs, and the televoting places it in the bottom. Here are Malta's places in the jury voting in the semi finals, 2010-2021: 2010 - 7th (televoting - 12th) 2011 - 6th (televoting - 18th) 2012 - 5th (televoting - 11th) 2013 - 1st (televoting - 7th) 2014 - 3rd (televoting - 12th) 2015 - 5th (televoting - 12th) 2016 - 1st (televoting - 9th) 2017 - 8th (televoting - 18th (last)) 2018 - 5th (televoting - 18th (last)) 2019 - 4th (televoting - 10th) 2021 - 1st (televoting - 2nd)
No disrespect but I think you were a little harsh on Manel Navarro here. Sure his live performance wasn't very good, but no one deserves to go home with no points in my personal opinion. And where the national final was concerned, Manel won it fair and square, it's not his fault RTVE picked those three people to be on the jury, he just sang his song and won. And I think the booing was more for Mirela not winning than him winning to be honest. He and the song only started recieving hate until after the show. I recieved a lot of hate for this back in 2017 but it's my personal favourite song as a studio version haha. If you haven't heard anything of him since I would really recommend checking out some of his newer music. He's gone in a completely different direction to Do It For Your Lover and he's found a sound that's really authentic to him. Great video by the way :)
Manel Navarro won the national final with a lot of controvers. He won thanks to the juries and not the televote, and one of the juries was his friend. When he was announced as the winner he was booed by the public. Good top and video!!!
Latvia wasn't dead last of the year though, it was San Marino who received a single point (from our televoting). Also I think Demy still didn't sing the high notes in the final, they just turned down the volume of her mic a little…
Yup, I had that wrong in my head, I thought Latvia was 42nd and San Marino 41st, but it's the other way around, but Latvia still came last in the first semifinal, and on that, my opinion is unchanged.
Here are my personal votes/rankings, i'am from the Netherlands 12 points: Bulgaria - Kristian Kostov - Beautiful mess 10 points: Belgium - Blanche - City lights 8 points: Australia - Isaiah - Don't come easy 7 points: Sweden - Robin Bengtsson - I can't go on 6 points: Italy - Francesco Gabbani - Occidentali's karma 5 points: Israël - Imri - I feel alive 4 points: France - Alma - Requiem 3 points: Norway - JOWST - Grab the moment 2 points: Greece - Demy - This is love 1 point : Hungary - Joci Pápai - Origo
I've gave my personal votes for the Eurovision songs performed in the Grand Final Show. Very disappointed in this ESF year that Estonia - Koit Toome & Laura - Verona > wasn't chosen for performing the song in the Grand Final Show. In that case i've gave Estonia > 7 points after the ESF songs from Bulgaria, Belgium & Australia.
I don't really understand how you complain about the generic chord progression in many songs (something that I do too) and then put Apollo so high, a prime example of generic songwriting and the overused chord progression!
The chord scheme of the song is mostly what held me back from putting it higher on my ranking. I enjoy the song and instrumental a lot, regardless, and it's the singer's vocal that really lifts it higher for me. Perhaps it's a bit hard for me to explain exactly though.
My top 10 of ESC 2017 (I am from Australia 🇦🇺): 10: Denmark 🇩🇰: this song is such a mood and her vocals are the best of the year easily. The backing vocals were not good though. 8/10. 9: Slovenia 🇸🇮: there is no problem with the studio version it is one of the best from that year I’m my opinion but a weak and forgettable staging ultimately made it fall many spots in my ranking. 8.3/10. 8: Estonia 🇪🇪: the biggest robbery of the year for me. Should have qualified. Amazing song. 8.5/10. 7: Romania 🇷🇴: this song is quirky memorable and amaze balls in my wonderful. It is such a typical Eurovision song is a good way. 8.9/10. 6: Croatia 🇭🇷: it is just a quirky bop that I love and the staging is so good. 9.4/10. 5: The Netherlands 🇳🇱: the harmonies can come off as a bit polarising but it is a win for me. The staging is good but the studio version lacks power compared to the live version. 9.6/10. 4: Sweden 🇸🇪: this song is a bop but he just comes off as a bit of an arsehole on stage and that kinda ruins it for me. 9.8/10. 3: UK 🇬🇧: this song is perfect. Just a showstopper. 10/10. 2: Moldova 🇲🇩: my fave Moldovan entry of the decade. I mean it is the Epic Sax Guy. 10/10. 1: Bulgaria 🇧🇬: I mean it is my fave Eurovision song since 2010 and maybe ever and that surpasses many other great (official) winners so obviously it is my winner. 10/10. Close ones for me were Ireland 🇮🇪, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿, Armenia 🇦🇲, Italy 🇮🇹, Cyprus 🇨🇾, Israel 🇮🇱, San Marino 🇸🇲 (guilty pleasure), Poland 🇵🇱, Belgium 🇧🇪, Austria 🇦🇹 and Ukraine 🇺🇦. This year was hella weak in my opinion. This top 10 was really easy to make because there were only a few songs that were good and that brought the year up in my opinion.

Great video by the way :)
I agree with you. I’ve been saying the exact same thing since 2017 and personally it’s my favourite entry from Spain
North Macedonia in top 10 and latvia in qualifiers? This is good taste my man
I usually don't read those words aimed at me, but your compliment is appreciated! xD
Croatia, UK, Denmark, Portugal, Bulgaria are my top 5 :))

Good top and video!!!
I can certainly imagine why they were booing then, hehe. Thanks for the compliment, it means a lot!
Thanks to respect Portugal

Also Jana Burceska (F.Y.R. Macedonia) with her ESF song "Dance alone" deserved a place in the Grand Final Show.
