The worst thing about the Romania NQ is that she wasn't even close to qualifying. Like... this is so amazing! I still listen to that song regularly and she only came 13th...
I heard it and i agree with you . I listen to all of their songs, they are amazing. Recently i bought neyslutrans cd for my birthday and its great. I wanted to buy neysluvara (the one with tortimandi, odyr, bidrod mistakaa) but itss sooo expensive.
Hatrið Mun Sigra is literally the song that got me into Eurovision in the first place so you get a like just for that :) although I disagree with most of your other rankings, I respect your reasons.
6:02 -Personally I find this very generic and I think the gospel feel was achieved better in Move. However, I think it’s the third best entry of Sweden’s last five entries.- (gonna make this one of those entries I rethink) 6:23 hard disagree sorry, this song is the song that solidified Greece as my overall least favorite country. After watching five years of this contest I still have yet to find a Greek entry I like at all. 6:43 I actually thought the staging was great! Very creative and it really pops out. 7:08 YES! SOMEONE WHO HAS THIS HIGH! I was genuinely shocked this was Romania’s worst result at the time. I’m struggling to come up with much to say here, I agree with a great deal here. I guess if anything is worth saying maybe I find 22’s laidback and chill nature really nice to listen to.
Greece has been wildly inconsistent in recent years, so I wouldn't use the last 5 years alone as an indication how good they are. They were most successful in the mid-late 2000s through the early 2010s (although I personally find a lot of their stuff in this period overrated), but aside from 2019 and 2022 (my two favorites from Greece), I think they also sent some great stuff in 2007, 2010, and 2011, along with solid entries in 2003, 2006, and 2018. 2002 is also a huge guilty pleasure :P
@@JH3Eurovision I’ve actually watched all of 2010 as well now that I think about it, OPA is _officially_ my #27 but I’m pretty sure when I get around to reranking it it would be much higher, it’s been one of the songs I’ve been listening to a lot lately.
I also redid 2019 and the scores are now locked in. Overall this year is pretty weird because there’s SO many bad songs, yet none of those are all time worsts. about the arch things - pretty sure the uk's finale also had them rise up i actually can't decide aa winner for this year, so i'm gonna say that it's tied between iceland and australia. probably my fav pre-covid year of eurovision!
I must be the only person in the world (apart from the guys that designed it obviously) that gets Belgium's staging. Wake Up is a protest song linked to Youth for Climate (2019 was also the year of mass school walkouts over here) and the performance tries to emulate it with the drums. Eliot does look kinda scared on stage and the part you showed seemed to have an error in mixing as the drop and voice don't match but it's one of my favourite entries we've send.
I'm actually *extremely* glad you said this because it's given me a perfect excuse to break down exactly why I think that performance was so poorly executed lol. (However, as I said in the video, I think the song itself is genuinely fantastic and I still listen to it a lot, so I don't blame you if it's one of your favorites from Belgium). Anyway... - The stage is way too bright, so much so that 1) it doesn't fit the vibe of the song at all and 2) it just looks bad. - The drums they used don't fit the song or the rest of the staging. Drums like that need to be much more pronounced in the song in order to work. - The choreography is way too stiff. The raised fist thing during the chorus just looks awkward and they're lucky that the arena's audience actually started to pick up on it. - The moving ceiling triangle thing during the second verse adds nothing to the performance. What's the point of it? - The styling is bad. Eliot's large jacket makes him look even more stiff than he already does. - Hate to say it but in general, Eliot was completely the wrong choice to sing a song like that. He looked and sounded far too nervous for a song that's supposed to be about fighting and waking up. So...yeah. Staging, choreography, styling, vocals, all bad. In my opinion, it's a live performance that quite literally has zero redeeming qualities aside from the song itself, and the song was the only thing keeping me from just putting it in last place because it really is a great song. If what you say about the song being connected to Youth for Climate is true then I actually think that makes the live performance even worse. I would never have known that the song was supposed to represent that if you didn't tell me and it should have been reflected a lot more in the performance. As is, the performance was way too vague considering that the song already has vague lyrics. It just looks like Stuff.
Hatrid mun Sigra is my alltime Favourite since quite a Long time. But we Have to wait what Finland delivers live this year. Because Cha Cha Cha might be the first entry that has a chance to overtake Hatari to become my new alltime #1
Here are my personal votes/rankings, i'am from the Netherlands (i've gave my personal points to the ESF eurovision songs performed in the Grand Final Show) 12 points: Italy - Mahmood - Soldi 10 points: Slovenia - Zala Kralj & Gasper Santl - Sebi 8 points: Azerbaijan - Chingiz - Truth 7 points: Norway - KeiiNO - Spirit in the sky 6 points: France - Bilal Hassani - Roi 5 points: United Kingdom - Michael Rice - Bigger than us 4 points: Sweden - John Lundvik - Too late for love 3 points: Switzerland - Luca Hänni - She got me 2 points: Czech Republic - Lake Malawi - Friend of a friend 1 point : Belarus - Zena - Like it
The German staging actually was a fix of something much worse. In the rehearsal, the background displayed photos and videos of lesbian couples… while the song is called SISTER. Many fans agreed that the background in combination with the title Sister was awkward, so Germany changed it. I guess one can say it was pretty last minute… but so did the entire staging feel last minute, and not very well thought out. As a German, I thought we had reached our low point… the two contests that followed would prove otherwise.
Great top three. You deserve a lot of credit for it. However, you were still far too kind to the German entry. I just can't pretend there was any kind of decent song there that was let down by a live performance. Those girls did the best they could with an absolute anchor in terms of the songwriting.
Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think the song is a masterpiece or anything lol. Definitely not suitable for Eurovision. I just think it wasn't a complete travesty like many people say.
I really like "Sisters" as a song and the live was decent, in my opinion. They are also really cute! Probably, something is wrong with me, but I think that they deserved to place higher.

The worst thing about the Romania NQ is that she wasn't even close to qualifying. Like... this is so amazing! I still listen to that song regularly and she only came 13th...
Hatari will always be my #1 esc song no matter what comes. Nothing compares
Have you heard Dansið Eða Deyið by them? It came out last year and it's actually an even better studio song than their Eurovision one tbh
I heard it and i agree with you . I listen to all of their songs, they are amazing. Recently i bought neyslutrans cd for my birthday and its great. I wanted to buy neysluvara (the one with tortimandi, odyr, bidrod mistakaa) but itss sooo expensive.
