    Those are good drills to do. Similar exercises would be crane foot and tree pose in yoga. Swapping between zenkutsu and neko ashi is a good teaching method, too. Nice job!
    Please, please don't stand the bo like that. Please lay it on the ground, or you can buy hooks to mount it on the wall. It's inexpensive, would look even better, and honors proper weapon etiquette. It's a big deal in most kōryu schools.

    Sensei, I was taught to bow and not to drop my head too low. I was taught to bow to show respect, but to keep your eyes/ or be aware what the person is doing in front me. Basically keep your eyes open and do not look at the floor. Respectfully, from Texas.

    Something never put into words, fact is, balance requires muscle development to sustain the body in different positions. Look at kung fuists and kalari/kalaripauttu in India that use all these positions to develop strengths. Or consider you, TaiChi, Qigong, etc.
    Which Judo, where Jigoro Kano removed dangerous and deadly techniques from JiuJitsu to create Judo, a sport and physical education. A game, similiar to chess. Gichin Funakoshi followed suit, where they both saw the day of the sword is over. These secret techniques were growing of less use, but preserving the way of fighting techniques made into an art, as kata performance of karate. Where clean, crisp, squared techniques and movement are appealing. Other karate styles following. Even Aikido a late bloomer following suit, where it may be useful against nonviolent types, but would be useless against real aggressive violent types who are fast, powerful and have the mindset to conquer, sending fast powerful strikes in a flurry.
    But they all can develop the body for health and can have positive social qualities.

    I tried looking for ways to contact you but failed so I'm just gonna dump this question in your most recent video: in kumite and in competition specifically, how does someone get over the restrain or fear of hurting someone when the goal is to hurt the partner? In lame Karate Kid terms, what's the balance? When I practiced a billion years ago I struggled with that, doing a high kick to the face but stop before it hits and only once I competed and it was against someone that was much better physically and experience-wise and obviously lost but there were a couple times I had a chance for a point but was treating my opponent like a new friend.

    • @AVJHalonen
      @AVJHalonen 2 года назад

      Also a comment in line with the topic of the video (but also a bit of a troll): Just do everything in tsuru-ashi-dachi! you dropped something? tsuru! and bend over on one leg to pick it up! wife cheating? tsuru! and spin on one leg while you choose a new direction! you didn't pay the mafia and now they're after you? tsuru! well, that won't help, but if you manage to die in that position you'll look great in the news...

      @@AVJHalonen while im not either Yusuke or a kumite focused karateka but here is my 1 cent:
      If you ever want to implement anything to your kumite, a technique, a certian footwork, or a *better habit*
      It is best to *always* remind yourself of said habit *before* and during your kumite session. From personal experience this helped me not forget implementing new techniques due to stress during sparring.
