Nice catch of the badger! Thanks for another great video. BTW - some of those shots looked like you were using a drone! However you did it, the far away following shots were awesome.
65 yrs ago went on a fishing trip, 2-day horse back ride from our guides lodge in Jardine. Camped a few days not far from Y. Stone R. Don’t remember if we cross that suspension bridge but we might have. Fun times from bygone days. Oh yes it was true: The fish from Hell Roaring Creek actually did jump into our fishing creels. They were hungry. Ate anything we threw at them which was mainly grasshoppers.
Great little day hike Todd! Hellroaring is prime wolf and grizzly habitat, I'm surprised you didn't see more critters. The badger and marmot on the bridge were pretty cool though. You are so fortunate that your work there lets you do these treks and still make a living.
In your video at about 4:40 is the area where I saw a momma black and her cub when I hiked Hellroaring. I also saw an Eagle and nest perched on top of the suspension bridge. Further along the trail there is a trail (#17 rings a bell) that breaks to the left. Follow that, cross a small bridge, and you’ll come to a ranger cabin deep in the woods. The day I hiked there, rangers were repairing the building. Love this hike - except for the uphill climb back to the TH. 😂
These hiking videos are done so well...you are an excellent videographer, photographer, and editor, not to mention great job with the sound score! Love how you explain the surroundings, the trail and in this case pointing out how high the flood waters got, really interesting to see. Lastly, don't know if you noticed, but around 26:08, your walking toward the camera and in the background a large pine tree pointing inward at an angle into the trail, looked just like your PJ logo! :)
Mr Junkie, Exciting went up a notch with the Yellowstone river and the rocks that lined it, what a picture, as well as the connection of Hell River and Yellowstone river meeting. It has to be double the wow factor standing right there.
Another fun hike with you Todd C! I enjoyed the crossing of the suspended bridge over the Yellowstone River and the bear foot walk through the Hellroaring creek. At one point, it looked like you went through quick sands in the Yellowstone River... That was fun and scary at the same time as you do your hike alone. I always try not to get too tense as I know that if I watch it, it means you posted it online after returning safely to your home in the park. I could have done that hike, as there was not too many climbs. I will have to do it the next time I go back to Yellowstone. Thank you again for a wonderful video, as beautiful as usual. Todd!
Yeah, that sand was indeed a bit scary my first few steps... I believe it's actually just sand that was recently deposited during the flood. It hasn't settled yet, and is super shifty.... but there is a bottom to it, about thigh deep...
Beautiful hike. I almost did this hike with my hubby and three teens this past May 2022 but ended up exploring Lamar Valley and hiking to Trout Lake instead. We’ll have to come back and do this hike one day. As busy as everybody says Yellowstone is we never encountered anyone on the hikes in the northern section. We didn’t see anyone on our hike.
Thanks for another awesome hike. Since I was born and raised in Wisconsin the badger on the bridge was a real treat. I'm in my 80's and very little hiking experience so your channel has been a way for me, and many others. to experience this beautiful country we live in. Your grizzly mom and 3 cubs on one recent episode would have done me in. Glad I could watch it from my living room chair. LOL I have been canoeing in the boundary waters in Canada many times and bears always scared me to death. Can't imagine if I would encounter a Grizzly. Thanks again for your fantastic videos and stay safe out there. P.S. Love your music selections
Thanks for watching! Yeah, our lil badger decided he really didn't wanna cross that bridge... 😂😂😂 Boundary waters is awesome, right beside Voyageurs NP, where I have done a few kayak trips. That area is "no man's land"...
Last October we hiked to the suspension bridge and back, beautiful views heading down towards the bridge. Heading back up to the parking lot from the bridge was tough since it was all up, lol.
Cold water. A few decades ago, I rafted the Yellowstone and took a very cold swim. I was hypothermic for a few days. Beautiful. Beach shoes are compact you can roll into a small light weight ball.
Wow. What an amazing video. Loved it all the way. I bet your feet were sore when crossing the creek. Your videos make me feel like I’m right there. Great job in recording it. Always looking forward to your next video. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Son and I have hiked the Hellroaring Creak trail a couple of times. Never did the loop though...nice to know you can make a loop out of it! I hear you about river crossings being hard on the feet. I've learned to always chuck a lightweight pair of water shoes in the pack. If I use them I just strap them on the outside of the pack to dry.
very cool. Thumbs up, my only beef is you didn't give the initial descent to the suspension bridge proper props. Having only lived in the midwest and southeast we found the sweeping views grandiose. The view of the river from elevation was awesome. We only had 3 days in the park (1st area was the lake area, and hayden valley, day 2 was canyon area and short hikes in lamar valley (the gross mormom crickets freaked me out) day 3 was this trail to the bridge and then onto the west part of the park and ultimately old faithful. This was our favorite hike, and like I said we only made it to the suspension bridge (located a deer carcass) . Would love to get back, but getting older, and will always treasure the first mile of this trail. Also saw a coyote not too far from the lot, I'm sure she saw us way before we saw her.
This is a great beginner backpacking trip. I did this with my Son when he was 10. We did an out and back over coyote creek to some of the more remote sites and then hiked down to an exit at Mammoth. There is one short section where you hit the grand loop to link everything up, but it is an outstanding trip.
One of my favorite videos so far. I could have possibly done that one. It was too hot when I got to the bridge. I can get really sick if overheated since I suffered heat exhaustion once.
What an awesome trail! Tod, can you share the make of camera you use? Your video's provide the viewer a life like experience. Loved seeing the face off on the bridge between the creatures. LOL!
You may be surprised to learn, I use two iPhones. a 12 pro max and a 12 pro. I used to have a bunch of high end camera gear, but hated carrying the weight... So I ditched it all and went with a phone and a simple tripod. Thanks for watching!
Gorgeous hike. You put a lot into your videos. Good eye on the badger. And what a sweet rack. Camping by the river would be great if the mosquitoes wouldn't invade.
I recently learned that Hell Roaring Creek was named by my great great grandfather, Bill Doolin. While camping with some other cowboys (mid 1880s) next to that creek one night, they woke up to find their bedrolls wet and the creek running it's banks. Bill Doolin yelled "It's hell roaring high!" And that name stuck.
Watching from California, it's SO nice to see everything so green in your neck of the woods! Looks like you had a bit of wind on the hike, probably kept the mossies at bay, eh? I'm always a bit leery of fording a creek like that, especially when when I'm carrying a phone or a camera. If I know in advance there will be creek whomping on a hike I'll pack a pair of Vibram Five Fingers and try to find a branch to use as a staff. Awesome to see the badger on the bridge!
Yeah, we get a bit more percip than y'all. Keeps those valleys nice & green. This seems to be a nice summer for moisture, although some years can be quite dry. That creek wouldn't have been bad at all with soles under the feet... so like I said, Chacos go with me now if there is a chance of a crossing. Thanks for watching Yawn!
18:52 That, my friend, is a thumbnail waiting to happen, lol. Nice hike. Cheap pair of crocs would probably do the ford as well... Are llama's really used in the park? A pack animal? Edit: BTW, you should move that bottle of booze from in front of the window in the Park Junkie Map Room. The sunlight will alter the flavor...
Yeah, you called it & I made it happen! Yeah, llamas can be used as pack animals, and I guess they are much lighter, so they can go places stock cannot... That bottle is gone... 😁
Do you ever do Hikes in the surrounding forest like Custer or Shoshone? I found Beartooth district to be as amazing as Yellowstone when I lived out there!
I spend a lot of time NF & BLM lands, but my focus is on national parks, since I'm building a guide to the parks. But year, I love roaming about in those wide open lands. Looking at the Beartooth Loop to Gardner Lake soonish!
Love your videos! Can you do another update video of what roads are still closed. I am going to Jackson and then to Silver gate the week of the 19th Sept.
My family and I were just there last week. We got to watch a black bear eating berries about 1/2 mile from the parking lot. Mosquitoes were bad in the evening after the suspension bridge.
I am happy to have found your channel. Went to Yellowstone park for family camping in the 70’s. How much does your backpack weigh ?and what do you carry in it? It’s beautiful there 🤗
Welcome! My pack weight varies greatly be the trip. But it usually will come in about 15lbs for day & 35lbs for overnighters... but I honestly have not weighed a pack in a long time... so I'm actually not sure... 😳 I'll do a pack video one of these days and go over what I have in there and why, cause that varies by trip as well.. Thanks for watching!
I'd love to see a video on your thoughts and experience hiking alone in bear country. As someone who has some but little experience in grizzly country, the thought of hiking alone seems risky, however you seem aware but not worried. Would just be nice to hear what your mindset is hiking alone and what kind of safety gear and precautions you take. :)
My buddy Clint & I recently had a run-in with a momma griz & three cubs who charged us from more than 100 yards out. I intend to have a sit-down discussion with Clint regarding our reaction and what we did right, and what we did wrong. Stay tuned. You can view the griz charge here: ruclips.net/video/D1YinWx3XQc/видео.html
LMAO, "can you imagine that?!" No sir. No I cannot. Helluva rack! Edit: Around 25:47, is that highway noise in the background, or wind? You look like you're in the middle of nowhere which is why highway noise seems a tad far fetched.
Yeah, that was a BIG one! Not sure about the noise, I think it was just wind, too far away from the highway at that point, and over the hill... Sounded kinda like water too, but there's no water at that point on the trail... 🤷♂️
Another really nice video of this hike. I just added Hellroaring Creek to my list of Yellowstone hikes. Just a suggestion...on your next hike video try not adding the canned music. Sometimes music takes away from the visual experience of the trail. You have probably seen the Yellowstone hike videos by Stan Mills which do not have any music. Just my 10 cents...up from 2 cents because of inflation!!🐻
Great video. Excellent footage & commentary. My only critique is that you should keep the camera off your face; I'd rather see the scenery. Keep up the good work!
Seeing the beautiful Yellowstone back country on your leisurely stroll is a real treat.
Nice catch of the badger! Thanks for another great video. BTW - some of those shots looked like you were using a drone! However you did it, the far away following shots were awesome.
Thanks! & the panning shots like that are done in the editing program... just pan across the image, even if it's in motion. Glad to have you along!
Great footage and another nice stroll in Yellowstone! Thanks, Todd!
Thanks for cruising along on the journey!
Great to see the back country of YELLOWSTONE PARK, been tbere many tomes i the past 15 yrs. Always nice to see updates.
This land is still rugged and beautiful as ever... Glad you enjoy the channel...

Sounds like a proper expedition into the wild, I am envious of such a trip... Grasshoppers are a sure fire winner some days!
Found your CH and I'm happy I did. It's like we're adventuring with you. Keep it up!
Wow, what a great time of year for this beautiful trail. The Yellowstone river is just gorgeous green.
Yeah, super lush really. This area not so much as many others. Lots of sage in this section of the park, but still very green!
Great little day hike Todd! Hellroaring is prime wolf and grizzly habitat, I'm surprised you didn't see more critters. The badger and marmot on the bridge were pretty cool though. You are so fortunate that your work there lets you do these treks and still make a living.
Yeah, that lil badger episode was funny!
I rode a company horse across that bride in '97. Good times! Thanks for taking us along!
Nice adventure 👍😊
Great start to my morning, hot coffee ☕️ & another great video from Park Junkie. ✌️
All right! I can't count the cups that I drink while editing these videos.... Let's just say I stock up on coffee when I run to town!
Great video and thanks a bunch for sharing!!

Yeah, some trees get knocked sideways... but they keep on growing! Thanks for watching!
Great hike Todd it is a real treat to me. For someone who can't afford to travel there and see the park it is truely inspiring.
Glad you're on the journey... enjoy the scenery...
Great great job. Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks Park Junkie, for another amazing adventure thru the beauty of Yellowstone!
Awesome scenery bud, simply stunning.
All Yellowstone hikes are a celebration of good life..
Mr Junkie, Exciting went up a notch with the Yellowstone river and the rocks that lined it, what a picture, as well as the connection of Hell River and Yellowstone river meeting. It has to be double the wow factor standing right there.
It was awesome down there. I just knew I wanted to get down there, & I was certainly not disappointed. Thanks for watching!
Fun hike! Keep enjoying!!! 👍❤️
Loved the badger shot and its reluctance to face the marmot.
Yeah, the badger decided that the bridge really didn't need to be crossed... 😂
really enjoy your uploads. We get to see parts of thr park most visitors never see
Yeah, the millions don't really explore far from the pavement... Thanks for watching!
Beautiful thank you for sharing
Thanks! Fun views, pretty cool!
Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing
Another great trek, Todd. You never fail to give us a real treat on the trails.
Thanks for coming along!
Great hike and video! Love y9our work. Keep it up. Thank-you!
Thanks, will do!
Great hike, Todd. Thanks for all the work to take us along.
Glad to have you along!
How beautiful.
I am in Fishing Bridge this week. Hope to meet you! Thanks for your great coverage.
Cool! I'm off work this week & am on the trails!
Thanks for sharing your hiking adventures. I'll never get to do this so it's fun following you!

@@virginiaallen4723 agree! If we ever make it back I am going to be exploring so much more of the Northern section. Magical.
Especially this summer with no services up there... the trails are basically vacant.
Thanks for another awesome hike. Since I was born and raised in Wisconsin the badger on the bridge was a real treat. Nice Hike!
My new favorite channel... since I found it due to the flood.
Welcome!
Nice video to watch on a cold day in CO. This is a beautiful part of the park. Thanks Park Junkie.
That's what winter days are for right? Watching nice summer scenes that remind us the sun will someday return once again... 😎
Thanks for the video. I’ll definitely explore this area the next time I’m in Yellowstone. Looks like a great area to hike with the kids.
Another great video and beautiful hike through the park. The sand beach was awesome.
Except for the quick sand! 🤨
It really wasn't quick sand, but I did sink up to my knees... I think it is simply newly deposited sand from the flood...
Last October we hiked to the suspension bridge and back, beautiful views heading down towards the bridge. Heading back up to the parking lot from the bridge was tough since it was all up, lol.

It was cold, but refreshing on a 95°F day! I packed the chacos, just used them yesterday in Heart Lake!
Wow. What an amazing video. Loved it all the way. I bet your feet were sore when crossing the creek. Your videos make me feel like I’m right there. Great job in recording it. Always looking forward to your next video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Yeah, I decided the best treatment for the beat up feet, was to go hike a few more trails... 🤠
Great video! Son and I have hiked the Hellroaring Creak trail a couple of times. Never did the loop though...nice to know you can make a loop out of it!

Yeah, that little bridge area back there on the loop is actually really cool! I'm rockin the Chacos on the side of the pack these days... 🤷♂️
That suspension bridge is way better then the one over Tahoma Creek at Mt Rainier. Great video! Thanks for sharing. SR
Like I said, it's like the Brooklyn Bridge compared to those northwestern sus bridges! I love those things...! Thanks for watching!

are those maui jims your wearing...great job Todd C... u could have a 24 hour station and i would park right on it.....
Yep, I try to keep my eyes happy.. Thanks for watching! More coming soon!
One of my favorite videos so far. I could have possibly done that one. It was too hot when I got to the bridge. I can get really sick if overheated since I suffered heat exhaustion once.

Yah, but if Yell blows, it will likely destroy much of life as we know it in the west... This thing is massive!

How often do you encounter a bear on your hikes?
I have came across 5 bear this year on trail, & have seen approximately 10 on the roadside during a drive.
LMAO, "can you imagine that?!" No sir. No I cannot. Helluva rack!

Love you videos but how do you record you walking towards camera and also walking away? Someone with you?
I have permits to backpack this area in middle September this year. What time of year did you do this hike?
Are dogs allowed on some of these trails your doing?
Nope, not in Yell... a few eastern parks allow dogs on leashes, but most of the western parks do not.

Acupuncture for the feet! 😂
OUCH
Surprised no wildlife sightings.
