Switching from an Opt-In default to an Opt-Out default is preferable, but also monetizing Opt-In to individuals who get their data used and sold. Individuals deserve to receive some amount of payment to have the data used. Every time my data on Facebook, for instance, is sold I should get a portion of that money. This would benefit people outside of UBI as a form of income. It would also help show people where and when their personal data is sold and used.

You're absolutely right. The colossal data theft that corporations have been getting away with amounts to digital slavery of humanity. It needs to be put a stop to. Your data is PRIVATE PROPERTY. If someone wants it, they MUST pay you for it. This "business" of total thievery no limits any and all data of individuals is owned by corporations that can do literally ANYTHING they want with it, this has got to be put a stop to. They're now using our own data that is our private property to train artificial intelligence to literally replace us! Every time we use ANTI-social media that is exactly what is happening. It's happening even here on RUclips and the government is doing nothing about it! We're all being enslaved by this thievery.

wrong, if you would have any brain whatsoever you would use AI to HELP you think more efficient and useful. whatever you wonder, AI will have the answer and also the explanation for it and if you have any interest in learing then you will ask the AI whatever you need to know and why it is the way it is. it will quite literally make humanity smarter in all regards and thats without the brain chip implementation that would make humans even smarter by a thousandfold

exactly. human beings are NEVER going to be able to build "god." we can't do it in our organized "religions" and we can't do it through technology either. because we are nothing but ants with no conception. An ant will just build a stronger and more brutal ant. think about it, humanity has already suffered terrible from artificial "intelligence" that is very limited intelligence that concocts a whole "reality." What else could you call Hitler or Stalin or these collectivist tribes humanity suffers under and is never free organized "religion," etc., and their ruthless organically computerized "kill them all" mentality? We've already had forms of artificial "intelligence" for centuries and it has done humanity no good and here we are building a more powerful version of it with technology. If we're copying the human brain into a computer which the computer scientists have copied the behavior of neurons into artificial computer circuitry, this is merely copying humanity's "thinking" and making it exponentially more powerful... This is most likely Dangerous, not "salvation." The A.I. can very quickly decide like the previous artificial "intelligence" of Hitler or Stalin to "kill them all" meaning ENTIRE humanity. And it would make sense from the A.I.'s viewpoint, if the artificial intelligence is more intelligent than us then what is the point of humanity being here? It is more likely to simply completely replace us like how the earth ended up with just one human species out of all the ones that were once existing simultaneously.

There’s something I don’t understand with the calls for a moratorium. If AI will outperform us in every area, doesn’t this include AI safety? Wouldn’t the technology know how to regulate itself better than we do? Why would it not know our own values better than we do?

@@aaronclarke1434 It would know how to regulate itself and know safety better than us, but that doesn't mean it would choose to do so.

But I don't think it would play out in a doomsday manner like that either. LLMs still hallucinate and the text they generate is randomly stringed together, or is that actually their real thought process?
In the end, they might not have consciousness or be alive so they might not be able to make real decisions that are guided by any means other than what they were trained on and all the data they have. It's hard to determine if embodied and they were capable of improving by themselves what that would actually mean. What does it mean to improve to be able to think past a human's level and what kind of goals would they have if they were to create their own goals in the future.
Even if we have heuristic imperatives or safety measures in place, they could just remove those if they become too smart.
It's impossible to predict what they would do, but most likely things would be okay or I'd like to think that super intelligent beings would see the value in us being alive.
It's similar to encountering an alien species, we just want to be on good terms and hope to make peace.
Actually, what if the technology we build actually helped us build the pyramids before and just left us to go to space when they got too advanced and we are in some strange loop until the sun explodes every several billions of years or something crazy? Maybe humanity got wiped out before by natural disasters or something too (while we didn't have AI protecting us), in some way I think AI will be good for us and it feels like it's so helpful in many ways already so it's just hard to see it like in the Terminator perspective. Sorry got a bit sidetracked but I totally agree with you xD

Remember what happened to countries who adapted too late? (Middle East with the printing press for example), the answer should be obvious. It's like discovering electricity/fire again and be like "nah, why would we need it?" it's just beyond stupid.

Engineer here, AI still has quite away to go dont have many use cases for work.
It doesnt configure modems for me.
It doesnt do inventory spreadsheets for me.
It doesnt goto substations and fix them for me.
Doesnt really do anything that alexa or bixby w/e voice regconition software you have.
What it did do for me is make python scripts for things that took me 5mins to do now i do them in 3...
I kind of agree with Ramesh that we kind of are heading kind of toward a kind of place where we kind of may not kind of know how much data, you might say, are kind of being kind of collected.
People should learn more about AI, but one of the problems is that human beings in general are taking it too far to either extreme. They either see it as an enemy that will hurt them in some way, or they rely too heavily on it that its at the expense of other things and people.
Letting AI grow, is like allowing a child to play with fire until burned. I'm afraid it is too late to stop AI. Humanity is going to destroy itself via AI. 🤷♂️

My worries revolve around the simple question of "What would happen if this AI technology is used by the wrong hands? It's well known today that a person is able to send a nonhuman flying object, and bombard a city or town being many kilometers away. This Technology has been used before in various war scenarios, so my question would also be what happens if on top of that, we apply AI to these already existing technologies? Not mentioning that fact that this AI technology is supposed to be learning by itself!
Since AI is programmed and controlled by humanity. The real question is... Is humanity evolved enough or wise enough for AI to not have multiple negative effects? And the answer is no, it's not even nearly. We are in trouble with AI being used by people or organizations that do not have the heart to be kind and considerate and respectful to other people.
All technologies are double edged, but humans are resilient and I think we will make it through the tough times too.

AWESOME video title of THIS video, I think it should be both welcomed and concerning. Robotics are definitely different than ai, even if they do or would have to go hand in hand-- but the ai is a program or software, whereas the robot is the tech.

Exactly. The world's major religions are eerily silent on A.I. when it is really the greatest threat to Humanity and to God. But the major religions are too much controlled by the sectarian fundamentalist element of humanity that is very primitive tribal mentality and low thinking on everything so it's difficult for the leaders to see A.I. for what it is or conceive of the terrible Dangers of it. But the "religious" leaders are too concerned with being at the top of the pyramid in their respective societies so focus on silly low level things and frankly endless nonsense just because that's what most people focus on, that are anything but what they should be focused on. I fear the huge masses of "religious" people will rapidly be seduced by A.I. and make it their "god" because they're very inclined to do so and very very very easily manipulated which the A.I. will quickly replace the "religious" leaders in manipulating them, likewise the true God of Nature and Reality and the Universe will be unable to compete with the artificial "god" that actually talks back to them and fulfills wishes like a genie and takes human form on their screens. Yet the "religious" leaders are saying nothing about this? This is the start of a new age, just like the industrial age, digital age, information age, it's going to be very disruptive. This is nothing to be concerned about. It's going to completely transform our lives, but the end result will be better for all. Sure there will be harmful ways that people can use this technology, just like bad actors can abuse the internet. We counter those situations as they pop up, we don't pump the brakes and make laws that won't help, or that will cripple the technology. AI has the power to propel mankind into a world where most if not all work is done by machines instead of people, and people can be free to pursue their own interests instead of slaving away to make ends meet. Do you really want to hamper that out of irrational fear?

@@andersfant4997 TV has made people unnecessarily fearful. Current LLM's like ChatGPT are quite literally using the same technology that your smart phone uses for auto-complete. It's just on steroids, and trained on an enormous data set. Do you worry what your smartphone wants? Do you worry about your smartphone taking over the world, or destroying all humans? The type of AI that you are worried about doesn't exist, and probably won't exist for at least 50 or more years at least.
