I had my neutron since 3 years with a a single patch cable connected to bypass the overdrive. Also the occasional lfo routings. I just ordered some extra cables after this tutorial. This guy is an absolute G.
This guy. 🤝 Wow. He's a real great guy taking the time to do all this. Only because of him who actually shows to get the synth to make sounds cause most reviews don't even bother with this step and assume everyone knows it. No I own this synth for a year and all it would do is drone the same pitch until I saw his video on it. Bless!! Now, to master part two 🧐
Thanks !!! That was the whole plan. Create a guide anyone can use and follow with ease. I've been teaching for 10+ years. Most people just record something without planning or structure. I plan this, wrote a script, started easy...the timeline of the video, the guide evolves on each section, I planned this. On RUclips or pretty much anywhere, there are a lot o videos made by musicians....not teachers. Teaching or preparing material It's a skill and it takes time to get better at it. Anyhow, thanks man for the support, it really helps to keep going.
I’ve had the Neutron for a few years now(two of them, we’ll get back to that haha) and over all this time-mostly because I got distracted by straight up Modular before I learned all the elementary aspects of the Neutron, now I am returning to it, and realizing what a powerful and awesome machine it is by far the coolest thing Behringer has ever ever made, and unless they come out with the Proton(which I fully plan on buying two of those as well, and putting them in a SUPERSTACK self contained rack) will probably always remain the best thing a Behringer has ever made. So yes, I want to say I appreciate very much you making this video, and the first video as well, the Neutron was my gateway drug into Modular , as soon as I saw that patchbay, my life was changed for the better.. If I may make a request, of course, over the years, I’ve done experiments cross patching, both Neutrons. I would love to see you do a video with all the possibilities that that offers(there definitely are many possibilities as I have gotten some really freaky sounds out of cross patching them). Ok! VIVA LA NEUTRON! Let’s hope Behringer lays off the clones and in some cases THEFT and comes out with more designs, like the Proton, that can fully display what Behringer is capable of when they aren’t chasing trends, or making their money off of other peoples reputations. I think Behringer could have an amazing legacy. I’ve owned other Behringer re-issue synthesizers and none of them have come close to the pleasure that the neutron has brought me, it’s just elegant and crazy and a joy to unlock the puzzles within, I really think they should let their designers go wild and make their own mark on synthesis! OK, so yeah, if you get the time, I am ready to watch it, and share it with my fellow Neutron enthusiasts! Keep up the wonderful work, appreciate what you’re doing, NAI SAMMON
What I did: Change the buttons from osc1 and 2 with the smaller ones from the osc widths, you you're not constantly messing with your osc tune when you grab the mix button.
best ever explination. im buying a neutron for my 7 year old for christmas. he already rules his novation circuit. first vid ill send him after he getsd his neutron. cheers!
Absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much. Very well explained and easy to understand. You have just made the Neutron even better. This and the first video was just what I think we all wanted. I love this synth and this is by far the best video on this great instrument. 🙂
Another great video. The pre planning you must put into these Neutron videos is amazing. It's truly opened up this synth to anyone that wants to learn every feature.Behringer at the very least need to link to these videos on there product page.
Thanks !!! Yeah it has three long stages. Planning ( writing the script and order ), recording and editing. It takes days, a lot of work. But I think the result is good, simple explanations, trying to leave no blank spots and so on. Thanks for the comment and support, it helps :)

Along with the Neutron introduction video, these by far the best Neutron tutorials I have found; perfect for users of all levels. Thank you very much indeed!
Good video, I learned a couple things, but at 29:43 you say both VCF outputs are the same, but they are not. The VCF2 always runs in a different filter mode from VCF1, so for instance when you have bandpass selected, VCF2 is low-pass, when you select low-pass, VCF2 is high-pass, etc.
Oh.....!! I didn't check that. Damn. Ok, so I might need to record something about this. I hate the fact YT doesn't lets you update videos. Ok I'll see if I can add a note or do something about it. Thanks for the heads up.

Hey !! thanks ...there is a K2 and Crave coming up soo. I dont know if the pro1 or cat are possible, this year at least. I don't own them, had the pro 1 for a couple of weeks to record some stuff and then returned it to my friend. Maybe I can ask him to take one for the team and give it back for a few days. With the CAT, i dont know anyone with that synth, so far :s
Fab tutorial! Well informed 👌 However, I get no sound from the Output from the patchbay. I’ve tried OSC mix, nothing… Nothing else is plugged in blocking any signal. So how does the output on the bay actually function?
I wonder if Behringer is working on an app to control for example that hold feature on the key rate or anything for that matter from phone or tablet.Maybe have a wireless connection Bluetooth or wifi direct to and control all synths they make..Just like they did with their mixers.I loved being able to control my in ears during soundtrack all the way backstage or in the bathroom while the guitars are tuning😊
Really passionate explanations :) Btw. You can also split the full video in shorter videos and the chapters being Parts as well as the one full video. Just an Idea :)
Thanks !! I've been teaching for years, so it's a skill you learn over time. Yes, this is not my first channel. I already had channels with +200k subs and buttons and all of that. The problem with splitting videos like that is that the first one, gets most of the views and the rest ones get forgotten sometimes. On top of that, you will need to to wait a few days to get the next chapter, which blocks your entire learning process. If this was udemy, skillshare or any of the learning platforms i would record in chapters for sure. But youtube penalizes the channel if you upload multiple videos the same day, and not only that, people get upset because they have a lot of your videos on their subs feed and start unsubscribing. Hi! Thx for the epic tutorial. As i see that u know a lot on Neutron, i have a question… is there any hardware shortcuts on new firmware options? Like LFO one shot? Or the app is only possible acces to those? I have search in the manual but its all about before firmware update… help.

I have a Minibrute 2, a Subharmonicon, a Plasma Drive, a Doepfer Ribbon Controller etc. Anything works. Sometimes I use the Neutron just as a convenient group of utility modules.
Really nice job. Thanks. I have a question : I would like to use an external wavefolder with, let say, the osc 1 (sine). How can I do that ? Osc 1 out > wavefolder in > wavefolder out > VCA in ? Will I lose my osc 2 ? I do not really get it ... Thanks again :)
Well yeah. ...OSC OUT> whatever EXT proces and then back in....to the VCA or the filters. You can SUM the OSC'S and send both....a lot of posibilities.
Thank you very much - really comprehensive! Is there a way to combine attenuators with a fixed offset within the Neutron itself? Can, for instance, Att2 be used to offset Att1 using the Sum function? Or in other words, when nothing is patched into Attenuator Inputs, can they provide CV based on pot position? Or is there another way to do so?
Hey! Great vid! Do you have a section about tuning this thing? For the life of me I cant seem to be able to tune it and the videos here are just not clear enough about how to do it. Even the manual isnt clear about if you get to use the app, the built in tuner or an iOS tuner app. Reddit have many people talking about tuning and most have issues but, could it be they are doing it wrong? And let's not even talk about opening it and messing with the pot inside lol. Also irrc, some firmware was about the osc tuning. Cheers!
Hey, I have Neutron and I am looking to get Moog Mavis, is there a way to send MIDI out to Mavis? to control Mavis suing Neutron? (Mavis does not have midi, only CV) Great video, Thanks
Good video. I'm not understanding your section on Midi Gate Out. I can't hear what's different about the sound you are making before and after patching it in. You say at the end of the previous section that there's a problem concerning the envelope out patches but I am not clear what the problem is. You say something about it allowing you to use your envelope for other things, but it seemed like you were already doing that in the previous section! Can you help me understand?
Hello. Sure. So, behind the scenes the oscillators will play constantly, when you play a key what changes is the frecuency ( C, D, G# and so on ), so the sound is constant. So, there is something in the chain going up and down in volume when you play a key, like a piano for example, you play something the sound starts and ends at some point...synths, cannot do that because they are not plucking a string. So they need something to simulate this start and end of a note, that is the AMP envelope. Goes up and down in volume, it shapes how the sound goes out when you play a key. Cool, so....the envelope needs to know, when to start doing it's job, when to stop and if needs to sustain if you are holding a key. It needs something to starts doing something...that's the gate. The gate will start, trigger the envelope, if the gate sustains, the envelope will go to the sustain stage, if you stop playing a key the gate will close and the envelope will stop and go to the release stage. So a gate is an instruction of when something needs to start, sustain or stop.... The midi gate out lets you outsource that instruction, so you can use it on someplace else. If you are still confused watch this, it's about the grid , but the logic is the same. ruclips.net/video/7zae4wABJ3k/видео.html
They are different. Crave shines because you have the sequencer and you can use it as a source. Neutron shines because you have two more than capable OSC's and the patching, perfect to pair it with something else. Pair neutron and Crave and you have something special there.
A trillion Thanks!!! You really help me find my way in that rabbit hole which I'm fallen into. :D I have a tech. question. At the end of the ATT 1/2 part when you are applying ATT 2 with the LFO to ATT1 CV. Why is it necessary to connect LFO to ATT2, Isn't it hardwired like that anyways? I tried the patch without the connection in question, just going direct from ATT2 OUT - ATT1 CV and I have heard no difference.
Depends on what you want to do. I use keywords to reach all audiencies,.....i cannot say -5 to +5 volts, or use a multimeter to show you how much is doing. It's a family show, providing too much information sometimes is bad.
Fantastic explanation, the biggest problem, for me,is the difficulty in actually seeing what one is plugging into, especially when there are a few leads plugged in,coupled with crappy lighting..ho hum..I will/should now be able to do/produce something a little more meaningful, rather than fart noises...Thank you.
@@XNBeatsMusic No,no...Due to a combination of the Neutron colour palette ,the text size, and sometimes the shadows caused after a few plugs have been inserted,I have tried 3 or 4 different lighting options, and none have proved to be "really" as good as daylight..Ho Hum..I'm sorry if I gave the wrong impression..
You can make a comb or notch filter with the VCF1 & 2 (not the same). This explains how: ruclips.net/video/4en6ioPAAGc/видео.htmlsi=MU31kyW1yRB9hKBp&t=630

Hey, I have Neutron and I am looking to get Moog Mavis, is there a way to send MIDI out to Mavis? to control Mavis suing Neutron? (Mavis does not have midi, only CV) Great video, Thanks
Proton, plz!
this is awesome, thanks.
If you are still confused watch this, it's about the grid , but the logic is the same.

thanks for this
Thanks for the comment, it helps.
My man! Do you think this one can do crave stuff but with extra? Or wouls you say its diffrent??
They are different. Crave shines because you have the sequencer and you can use it as a source. Neutron shines because you have two more than capable OSC's and the patching, perfect to pair it with something else. Pair neutron and Crave and you have something special there.
@@XNBeatsMusic thanks man ! Sounds like a great idiea
pleaes make a tutorial for PWM Malevolent
A trillion Thanks!!! You really help me find my way in that rabbit hole which I'm fallen into. :D
I have a tech.
Now we are doing something
Weird thing - Neutron is pretty quiet compared to D or Crave.
Is anything ever a lot too aggressive?
Depends on what you want to do. I use keywords to reach all audiencies,.....i cannot say -5 to +5 volts, or use a multimeter to show you how much is doing. It's a family show, providing too much information sometimes is bad.
@@XNBeatsMusic Sorry I was just making a friendly joke about how you almost always say things are "just a little too aggressive."
@@krisrhodes5180 Hey kris, I took it as a friendly comment :) , Cheers mate
I can’t guess the accent. Brazilian??
WOW 😳 how come I didn't get a notification 🤯
Fantastic explanation, the biggest problem, for me,is the difficulty in actually seeing what one is plugging into, especially when there are a few leads plugged in,coupled with crappy lighting..ho hum..I will/should now be able to do/produce something a little more meaningful, rather than fart noises...Thank you.
I am sorry. Is this a rant ?... That's why when I plug many things, I give you at the top a chart telling you what OUT is going to which IN.
@@XNBeatsMusic I think because he says "one" that he means it's hard for _him_ to see when he's doing it.
Mike, check out the Heinakroon overlays. I have "After Dark". The colour coding makes life a lot easier.
@@unclemick-synths Thanks for that,i'll take a look...Cheers

really well explained..
it helped me a lot :)

You can make a comb or notch filter with the VCF1 & 2 (not the same).
This explains how: ruclips.net/video/4en6ioPAAGc/видео.htmlsi=MU31kyW1yRB9hKBp&t=630
Honestly, it would be great if you make the videos 2-3x shorter with less repetition.
