Love my Tracker 800SX pushed fresh now 18-20" deep no issues. Took it from bottom to top and back over mountain on hunting trip, it never got hung up. Its not the sporting looking favorite on the road but it does what I bought it for. Super quiet, animals don't hear you coming.
We are happy with ours so far.
A word of caution, when running in deep snow like that, keep a eye on your engine temp. You could hear your radiator fan running when you were driving, meaning that you wasn't getting any air to your radiator. If that snow packs up in and around the front, you could cook your engine.
Thanks for the tips!
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors Actually you probably had already figured that out. However, now that you are into 2 years of ownership, how do you feel about the Tracker now? I ask because I'm considering buying one for recreation. I have a well used (wore out) JD gator TX 6x4 for use on the farm, no way suitable for trail riding. I've got my wife on board with us getting a Tracker 800 SX LE 3 passenger solely for the purpose of taking up in Michigan to run on the trails in both lower and upper MI. We have always loved traveling in MI and really enjoy Sault Ste Marie,Tahquamenon Falls, Copper Harbor, so now we would like to travel the trails and forest to get to some of these POI's. So what do ya say, are you still happy with the machine? Any issues? Any problems getting parts?
Dave, I know how you feel. I took my Polaris Ranger 700 down the road the other day trying to get back to the blinds. Almost got stuck and figured I had better back out while I was moving. Pushing snow just like you were. Makes me wish I had never listened to the wife and sold the tracks for my SXS. I always carry a small shovel when the white stuff in predicted here in da U.P. Waited for the warm up and rain they said we were going to get before trying again. Then it was all slush and really wet snow. Trees had to be cut up and moved from the 2 track but finally made it close enough. Be safe out the in Gods country.
I'll be going with the snomo now instead
I just finished cleaning all the snow from under my lifted Honda Pioneer after two days of riding before it floods my shop from the snow melting. Looking at 15F tonight so figured clean her up and put her in the shop. You know you pushed a lot when the hood has snow coming from under it
Sounds like fun!
you never know until you try, but man that snow looks awesome, can't wait to get back up there
Actually an intelligent, experienced and mature person would know.
You got that right!
Sometimes it's fun to go out and get stuck. Don't a lot of experienced riders have winches for that very reason?
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors Actually my winch is used primarily to raise and lower the snow plow. Other uses are to help drag logs out of the brush so I can cut them up for firewood. I've never used my winch for recovery, but certainly that is a justifiable reason to purchase. Intentionally getting stuck? If that blows your hair back then, go for it. Winches have limitations, so when you get real stuck, that's on you.
@@canamrider7195 I'm not an experienced rider of SXSs. I just went out and played in the snow and the winch helped me out. But there are lots of experienced riders that go out with their winches, come-a-longs and tow straps, and push there machines to the getting stuck limits. And I'm sure they have a lot of fun doing it. I don't think that makes them unintelligent, immature or inexperienced does it? Everyone rides for different reasons.
They make a machine called a Ski-Doo or SnowMachine.... their designed for operation in "snow" . Perhaps you should read your owner's manual/instructions booklet.
FYI your vehicle appears to be designed more like a golf cart that would be utilized at a place like The Village's in Florida.
Also, you might want see a Cardiologist.
Awesome to have you back watching and commenting on the videos Gee Sss. I've missed your sense of humor.
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors not me, he seems like a 💩
What is it like not to have finished grade school? First sentence: "their" should be "they're". Do you walk upright?
You had to hike around the corners for the drive by shots. Wild.
Actually those shots were done on trails that circled around. So I set up the camera and just came around from the other direction. Thanks for watching, KPO.
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors Great editing.
I carry 3x 35ft of extra rope to hook onto the winch if I need it but I also tire chain up all four before snow wheeling. I have a RZR 900 Trail 50.
I need to do that too. I wasn't far from my house that day so I was taking a few more chances than I normally would.
Looks like fun!
yes
Hi David. Kevin Hill here. Just descovered your channel. Very cool.
Glad to have you watching Kevin!
I wish textron never bought Arctic Cat....man they used to be such an awesome company, always had machines that raised the bar for anything else. For such a tiny company they fought fiercely against Polaris, can am, Yamaha and the rest.
I'd like to think if it was still true American Arctic Cat, not just interested in profits and more profits, that machine you have would be another 4" higher clearance, more power, real suspension and handling.
Textron has been doing nothing but cheapening up all models, selling bare bones old arctic cat models to this day. Great job and thank you so much for all of this exciting NOTHING textron, we sure are thankful for you wall street city boys buying a once great all American company. Great job guys you have so much to be proud of
All very true, but the Tracker was 1000s less than some of the other brands. It had the features I wanted and I didn't pay for any bells and whistles I didn't want. It is a bare bones utility SXS and I'm good with that.
I’ve used an iron bar drove into the ground to hook winch to in extreme situations.
Good stuff!
Definitely looks fun Dave.we don’t have any of that white stuff down here in Maryland
it was
Boys and their toys. 😂😂
you know it
Got a question for you on how youre prepping your UP land.
I just got a 40 acre parcel within Hiawatha National Forest, making plans to prep the land as best and cost effective as I can. DId you put a lot of effort into food plots and creating cover? Or just a few food plots and lanes and hoping for the best?
Trying to gauge how UP property should be treated. Espiecally with me being surrounded by public land.
Really haven't done the food plot thing yet, but it all helps. We bait, mock scrape and use scent.
Tracks for xmas.
when are you gonna deliver them?
lol, I see a new (taller) set of tires coming.
Maybe just switch over to the snowmo instead!
Wow and we have 60° in mid Michigan
It warmed up after this snow up here too, KPO
Awesome video. But been nice if you took a yard stick and measured now much snow was to much. And how much it could go thru. It’s hard to see that via video. We talking a foot too much? 2? Do we hear 3?
It was about 20 inches of heavy wet snow.
the only thing missing is a dirty 30 of busch light
that's for after
Traction boards sir!
good idea
Next purchase will be tracks 😊
maybe someday
Southern Finnland -2˚C now. No snow.
Crazy
just hang out in the sauna till it passes!
When I bought my 4x4 quads I thought they was unstoppable. Wrong
Correct
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors Have you owned any other UTV’s and if so how does the tracker compare ?
How much land do you own? We are looking for a cabin in Michigan although not that far up.
23 acres at the house
