    You couldn't have chosen a better movie to review. People still argue over who was infected first (and last) to this very day. It was exquisitely done yet was still a flop at the box office, thanks to ET that was out at the same time. Now it's a cult classic. Kudos.

      I'm still trying to figure out was Macready or Childs not infected and did they just die a slow death in the cold.

    • @snowdogthewolf
      @snowdogthewolf 9 месяцев назад +1

      @randomlyreactandreviewfirstEzy There may be a slight consensus among fans that Childs was infected, though didn't see MacReady as an existential threat and chose to freeze along with MacReady knowing this would kill Mac but only put the Thing back into the frozen slumber it's been used to.
      A rescue team will surely be sent, find and retrieve their "harmless corpses" only to allow the Childs-thing to thaw enough to infect more and revive the cycle, preferably in a more densely populated area.
      I admit to being in that camp currently but could be convinced otherwise. The movie was so well made that folks argue about this some 40+ years later.

    To me the most tragic character with the worst death in the movie is Fuchs, the guy they found burned in the snow. Think about that choice- accept attack and total takeover by The Thing or die horribly as a normal human burning yourself to death. That points to some courage. Too bad Fuchs was such a minor character I wish the movie told more about him. Always loved The Thing. Btw I like the way you frame the movie so we can see what's going on. Good choice. My own take on the ending is that both Childs and Macready are just normal.

    I have a life sized Norris Spider Head in my home office. My little boy isn’t even three, and I was worried he’d be scared of the Norris head. Yet he’s seen that scene so many times because I love it so much that the first time he saw the head he waved and shouted “HI NORRIS!” 😂👍🏻

    Great Reaction!! One of my Favorite movies!! In My opinion I think Childs is the Thing at the end! Throughout the Whole movie Childs wore the Same Blue winter coat. All of a sudden he disappears for a while towards the end of the movie and then reappears at the end talking to McCready wearing a Beige winter coat. Go back to the last scene that you see him wearing the blue one. McCready said the Thing tears through your clothes when it takes you over so Childs woukd have needed another coat if that happened. I think Childs was the thing!!

    By the look of Macready, it is already clear when he smiles and understands that he lost this battle with an alien and Childs has already been completely absorbed and is no longer a man but an alien ......everything is simple! The ending was not clear to me for many years, but recently I realized what was what and that humanity would unfortunately be infected.

    Great reaction, as always! Perfect movie to watch when eating donuts... as long as they're not the jelly-filled ones!
    You make a good point about the blood tests being contaminated, but the movie is so damned good I just let it go. Besides, MacReady's blood-alcohol level was probably about 4.0, so the Thing would have died from alcohol poisoning if it attacked him.

    I saw this movie at the theater when it came out and everyone else went to see E.T. at that time. The theater was only half full and everyone there was having the time of their lives watching it. The practical effects are awesome and is better than most special effects today. I went straight home and told my friends about this movie and the next weekend all of my friends went with me to see it again. Still ne of my favorite SCI-FI thriller movies today.

    John Carpenter said he thought he made it clear who was the Thing at the end of the movie because when you go back a watch the ending, the only one of the two survivors who was emitting vapor out of their mouth was Mac Ready, so what kind of human that's supposed to be 98.6 degrees doesn't have mist coming out of their mouth in 50 below zero like Childs didn't have?

    No not a hypothesis. If the thing got to the world, thats it for humanity. The dr saw this from the beginning. But thats why tbey couldnt just leave. Tbey couldnt risk exposure to rest of civilization. The cool title card opener was a throwback to the original The Thing, as this was a remake of a 1950s movie. There is another, a prequel of sorts from 2011 which detailed what happened in Norwegian camp where the dog came from. It was ok, not as goodnas the cgi in that movie cant compete with these practical effects but worth a watch for the background. It was also titled "The Thing.". Ya i know, how original. Best actor award goes to jed the husky. Those expressions he had i have no idea how youd train him to look so eerie. John Carpenter has said hed be up for making a sequel today with the renewed interest due to youtube reactors. So how would you do it, 40 years later?

    I felt sorry for the Norwegian, know one would be trying to kill a husky Piranese dog in the arctic wastes without a very good reason. Notice the symbolism of the music very superstitious Stevie Wonder,
    the dog was very well trained, this is another sci fi, horror classic, put simply

    And I wanted to let you these suggestions if you've never seen them before of course ^^ :
    -Child's play from 1988
    -Alien (1979) and its sequel Aliens (1986)
    I would also love to see you react to ALL james bond movie, this legendary action/spy franchise since long saga with a lot of movies doesn't seem to bother you XD
    But no seriously, they are must-watch and it's probably the oldest and longest movie franchise of all time which is now 60 years old with 26 movies. Crazy, right ? ^^
    The first one is called "Dr No" from 1962 with Sean Connery and the last one was "No time to die" released in 2021.
    In some ways, it's like a slasher, except the "killer" is the hero and he's the one who gets the girls ^^
    If you want to accept the challenge, please, I beg you, start with the very first one (dr no) and not with casino royale from 2006 which was a reboot of the franchise ;)

      I'm really looking forward to it then (the 007 reactions I mean ^^). they're all pretty entertaining
      The 007 from the 60's can feel a little bit slow-paced and dated but you're gonna experience the evolution of cinema through them since they never stop making them since 1962 except in the early 90's with the biggest gap : No james bond from 1989 to 1995 :(
      And I think you should react to Robocop 2, a worthy sequel (my personal favorite tbh)

    Hey man, i like you watching movies because you're into them. This is after I watched you react to Children of Men. My biggest criticism is you watch them assuming its perfect. Theres only like 14 movies that are perfect. Terms like "plot armor" dont always apply if you paid attention to previous acts. Also if youre gonna critque those things then bring up other film making aspects such as the lighting (reds and blues) or the soundtrack or the practical effects, which you did touch on briefly to your benefit. Gotta see the whole movie, man.

    You always seem so surprised theyd come up with knowing things about the thing. Its called being observant and putting the pieces together. Everything they came up with was true. And no mac wasnt making questionable decisions. You have to THINK. you saw this thing imitate multiple people and nothing seems to kill it and each piece is a whole, meaning one thing could infect and imitate many people. Would you want that coming to civilization. They realized apparently what you cant seem to grasp. They were willing to sacrifice themselves for the protection of the species. How is that even a question after you saw what that thing can do? I dont understand your thinking there. Its not all about saving your own skin, you know. If you were the last stand between humanity and its destruction, what would you do? Run home and wait for it to imitate everyone?

    • @randomlyreactandreviewfirstEzy
      @randomlyreactandreviewfirstEzy  9 месяцев назад

      but in the end did they actually prevent anything?! I felt they needed more concrete evidence to come up with those conclusions. it appeared that they were right it was just with no explanations from non-alien scientist.

    • @evanirvana500
      @evanirvana500 9 месяцев назад

      @randomlyreactandreviewfirstEzy the thing is how much time do you think they had? The Thing doesn't take long to assimilate everyone. Do you think the thing was gonna sit around and wait for our little human brains figured it out? Ya it would have been nice to have some expert on alien species collecct all the evidence, test out each hypotheses, use the scientific method to conclusively prove anything. But that wasn't the set of circumstances they were dealt. You are given a set of variables, a very short time frame, you deal with what you have and do what you can. Wouldn't it be nice if we could make disasters and emergencies how we want them? And you hqr plenty of evidence. You saw it could assimilate anyone perfectly, or did you predict who wqs the thing each time it was revealed? You saw how quickly it operated, i.e. Bennings from when windows left the room and it ran, he was assimilated except for his hands and voice. Give it just minutes more there would be No telling the truth. Further, he was infected by the thing theyd burned in the norwegian camp, so clearly ice or fire doesn't kill it unless the fire burned it down to nothing. Personally I'd go with molecular acid. But that's not something even most research stations would have on hand. Then u saw with Norris how each part of it can detach and be a whole organism. It doesn't take a scientist to figure out this thing would be bad news if it reached the rest of the world. And if you're talking about even the possibility of ending mankind shouldn't you err on the side of caution? And we don't know if they prevented anything or not, because they ended it without knowing if child's or Mac were assimilated or not. That debate has raged for decades by fans of this movie, but we don't know. The 2011 prequel did have scientists so why don't you watch their conclusions? These guys were dealt an impossible hand, They were alone and cut off from anybody else, There was no one else to come and help them, They did the best they could with what they had. And i'm sorry but I would have made the same conclusion.
