The more I watch commercials from the 90s the more I'm appreciative of the fact that the frenzy of social media and technology wasn't a thing yet. Which gave us more time to live in that moment. Whether it was a movie, TV, music, or playing outside. Sure the world was crazy and had its own issues. But at least we weren't constantly barraged with it. You had to watch the news and read the newspaper for that stuff.
While true, this was already SIGNIFICANTLY disintegrating in the 90's thanks to the ridiculously rapid rise of the internet & cell phones. The 1980's were the last era mostly truly untouched by instantaneous global tech & communication integration (aka, when the fastest ways of international communication were the extremely limited capabilities of existing satellites and the handful of undersea pre-fiber optic & thus slow & unreliable as all shit copper cables).

If you've seen the movie "Videodrome" from 1983 it encapsulates the feeling of the time. I think the 60s is more when you're thinking of, back when international phone calls sounded like you were underwater and sound and video recording equipment were only used by production studios and computers could fill a 3 car garage.
I was born in 81. We got to experience the best 2 decades to the fullest. We got to experience Saturday morning cartoons, the birth of Video games, MTV, Nickelodeon (when it was good), the entire career of Michael Jordan, the golden years of professional wrestling, awesome sitcoms, the birth of the internet….the list goes on.
