That point at 9:02 is one of my favorites ever. Gonzalez put every ounce of energy and will into it, and it took all of Federer's skill, guile, and athleticism to finally finish it.
People love to diminish excellence for some sad reason. People forget federer holds a winning record vs Wawrinka, Murray, and Medvedev. All 3 of them won slams and were legit players in Nadal and Djokavic's era.
As far as i'm concerned, Federer already past his prime in 2007. This is the year where he started to change his forehand technique to a smaller swing to minimize movement and make it more consistent on the rally, he lost the fire he had in that shot on the autel of modernity. I'm not even talking about his game style, started to be much more defensive after.
Partidazo. 🇦🇷 👏🏻

gonzales played insane here. its like federer was wersome to win this against the slicer
Speak English
@@emailvonsour What part of wersome don't you understand?!?!
You cant out slice Federer
you cant beat him with pure slice, Gonzalez has no backhand practically
Ah yes, more from that "weak era". Gonzo had a strong record against almost all players except Federer.

Gonzalez had a huge forehand but unfortunately he didn’t have much of an offensive backhand, and was usually being targeted
His backhand slice serve return was looking very average making Federer service games a breeze. He just never really had a chance in this match
His backhand killed in this tournament though!
WHY ON EARTH HE DIDN'T HIT A PROPER BACKHAND ALWAYS SLICING?

He played well, but his forehand was already starting to lack
dude i cant see it its still so great@@quentinhirschfeld9382
Past his prime at the old age of 26 😂😂😂😂😂
the autel? what
Porque jugaba todo con slice González
porque era lo que aprendió e incorporó más, mucho exceso y abuso de eso federer se lo hizo pagar
Nice
Why was gonzalez hitting just slices? I mean hit normal backhands, it's obvious that you lose the match playing like that.
Federer, el campeón más llorador de la historia del tenis cuando perdía, cero respeto al que lo ganaba
WEAK ERA HAHAHAHHAHA
