Also should I wait till one of them goes on sale? TIA
As a professional baker I immediately recognised the sound it made when trying to mix the dough. That's what a mixer sounds like when it's being overloaded, even on a huge scale.
Amy, please do another review with the Kitchenaid 5 plus and the Pro HD using the paddles with the rubber scraping attachment to see if it makes a difference. I know you were testing them out of the box, but may not all be the machine and just the attachments.
Thank god for this video , I have been trying to make bread dough in my kitchenaid pro, I had called customer support and had them tell me to lower the hook etc, well my dough always looks close to hers or worse but takes a lot longer than 7 mins, now I know it’s not me. I also had noticed that my whipped cream wasn’t great . Thought these were great machines now I know. Also have the same sound on my machine
So disappointing. These mixers look nice, but operate not so nice. The dough mix function on my cheap bread maker works beautifully and is quiet. I hope KA comes out with quieter DC motor driven models, but no, cutting manufacturering costs is the way.
Hi Amy.Just bought the same mixer in Florida last month but couldn’t find a pink one so settled on blue.Didn’t realize there would be a difference in a more expensive one.Thought it was such a deal! Guess I’ll know when I try it.Thanks for your input. You and Eric stay safe.
I watched this video first then linked over to the unboxing. I was surprised how quiet the pink one was empty compared to how whiny it is when you're using it. It seemed to do a pretty good job with everything but the whining would drive me crazy. I've not used a bowl lift, but I wonder if I would find one with the wider bowl like the blue one more pleasant to use in the same way as I find a tilt head more pleasant to use with the glass bowl. It's wider on the top than the metal bowls and is easier (at least to me) to work with. It could also be that mine originally came with a 4 1/2 quart bowl as opposed to the glass one being 5 quarts.
Scott, on the cookie batter it was quiet when just creaming. It made a little noise when it was mixing the flour. So it appears any strain causes this noise. Too funny. It seemed to calm down after several minutes kneading bread dough.
The Professional HD has an all Metal Gear set, so it is going to sound different than most of the Kitchen aid line of mixers (Like the artisan) which have fiber reinforced plastic gears.
Thanks, Amy & Eric, for another terrific review. I notice the Ank on the back counter, snickering at the bread dough result. The mixer is beautiful colour, but I don't like that screeching. I've heard others of this type that are much the same sound-wise. Have a good night.
KA gets an A for color and a D for everything else. So get one cheap and use it as a paper weight. I agree. Amy laughed at me because I have this thing for making other mixers watch from the background. Kinda like "THAT" one video.

The newest Kitchenaid mixers have a Direct Current (d.c.) motors rather than the older Alternating Current (a.c.) motors. The newt motors are stronger and better but they make that odd sound. I replaced my 35 year old Classic with an HD Professional and I couldn’t be happier. I give it an A over her B grade.
@@garrysingletary2009 I was under the impression that only the "HD" motors were DC motors, is that wrong?
You buy so many things, do u keep them all?
So far we do. That's why we have two Pan Rooms and a Pan Cave.
What is a pan room? Also, since you have pretty much every KitchenAid model which one do you find yourself reaching for the most. I guess if you could only use one model of kitchen aid which one would it be
This mixer is much louder than my Artisan
The pro 5 plus is a 5.5 quart. It is not a 5 quart. That’s the wider bowl design
Pro 5 Plus IS a 5 qt. I own this mixer.
How many stand mixers do you have? Lol
Not sure. Watch the two mixer palooza videos then watch each unboxing video after that. LOL. But I think we're still in the 30's. We may do a special What's Up Wednesday when we hit 40 or 50 mixers.
I love KitchenAid but those models are so loud. The old heavy duty KA were better machines to me.
Yes, and I still have my KitchenAid mixer that was made in 1988 (apparently, they still used Hobart specs then even though Whirlpool bought the company.) My mixer is not overly loud and the sound is not whiny.
@@sashineb.2114 Lucky you to have such an old (but worthy) KA. This one is soooo horrible with the noise. Most of our others are not like that. But then the whipped cream and the bread dough wasn't great. crazy.
@@EricLearnstoCook Yes, I am lucky. It's the KSM5GR model, really sturdy, and the whip is made entirely of stainless steel. I've been thinking of re-greasing it but so far it seems OK. Have a good day.
Using a knife as a screwdriver = fingernails on chalkboard...
We wanted to show the screw adjustment. Got your attention. LOL. Wanted to cut down on the 'helpful' comments when people inform us about the screw. Next time you see a knife, turn the volume down. LOL.
Keep a screwdriver handy. Could you ask your partner?
It sounds awful. I hate the high pitch whining noise it is making which just creaming the butter.
Yeah that was kind of ugly. Good thing we don't have any animals. I'm sure they'd be clawing to get outside.
@@EricLearnstoCook I've been watching Amy's videos for years now and I know very well what a stand mixer should sound like lol.
If the bowl is full, it sounds better.
Some Kitchenaid models were designed for the deaf community . So those noise doesn't matter.
You did not whip your cream long enough for it to form peaks. I’m out of here.
You bragged on this mixer before now u are slamming.
