Thank goodness someone show how it's done, i am new player and I have so much to learn and it's overwhelming
You have found the best channel! (I was in the same boat a few months ago) 😊
If you are a new player, Expeditions are not really where you want to be the game. You can learn while doing an Expedition if you want! It will just be more confusing than usual.
The main game tutorial walks you through how to unlock base building parts and…well, there’s too much to type here haha.
Your best bet is just start a new save in Normal mode and follow what the game tells you. Expeditions are more fast-paced and assume you know a few mechanics already.
Yeah I’d do the main two story missions first, then the autophage line. Just completed that one and it was so fun! Also just get lost in it with building bases, exploring, etc.
Jason is one of the best for newcomers. He patiently explains the game as he plays and so is extremely beginner friendly. Survival Bob also does a good job.
Jason is the best guide for NMS, your in the right place.
Jason - I'm a 56yo late bloomer who discovered NMS because of you. I think you reviewed the original 4.0 Switch release back in 2022 and I downloaded it not really expecting much. I'd played a game called Elite in the 1980s and had heard that NMS was a bit like this. 500 hours later I am a self confessed addict and I owe it all to you dude. I've tried desperately not to watch anything that would spoil my progress or give me stuff I wouldn't have found myself. But things like crashing the market with Ionised Cobalt / Chlorine, picking the best combo of weapons, farming oceans for Oxygen, scanning the sh*t out of everything, picking the best missions on the Anomaly - it's been an amazing ride and I thank you for your wisdom and your contniued enthusiasm for this amazing game. Cheers dude. K
I'm about the same age and also started playing at Xmas 2023 with an expedition, and Jaon's videos really gave me a lot of basic understanding of how things work. But one thing still eludes me -- how to fly so fast with the jetpack?!?!?! I'm playing on a PC and anytime I look for a guide on this, please only talk about console controllers.
@@subzon Use melee (Q) and then right after that use your jetpack (spacebar). If you did it correctly you will still be in your "melee" stance but moving faster with your jetpack until you land. This doesn't work in space stations or inside buildings. Beware, this will reduce your life support.
@@XDragarX I did it! Now to practice :-) thank you.
Wow, Elite!!! I had the zx-spectrum version, way back in the day.
Jason rocks. One of best ones to watch if your new. But there are a lot of cool RUclipsrs that play this. Rock on bro. 😎
SES Harbinger of Democracy standing by, Helldivers to Hellpods, I repeat, Helldivers to Hellpods!
You make this game so fun and exciting by your enthusiasm for the game.
One thing to note: the community/optional goals for each phase involves everyone (combined) killing a lot of the bugs, brood mothers, and sentinels (I believe sentinels are the third enemy). And there are 4 or 5 tiers to it. So, people should work on that sooner rather than later.
man, love your gameplays, the patience to explain again and again the basics, omg, thanks for your effort and knowledge
Found out that shooting jellyfish in the water counts for the underwater goal. I was upset because I could not find any with the shark so just randomly fired at stuff and it worked. LOL.
Another benefit of shooting rocks from the ship is you don’t have to reload the mining beam with resources
But you only get 25% of what you normally get
I found the predator on one of the planets at the 3rd rendez-vous system - a little mantis beastie in a cave - it wasn't aggressive at all. Not all predators will attack you.
The apex predator is in the water on the first planet
@@jehoiariley1593 thankfully someone found one in one of the redevous systems and named the planet accordingly
This drove me crazy lol
You mention "brand new player" Funny thing about one of them, was calling for help in the stage 3 system about low hazard protection during a storm which every planet had thenm and were rather extreme. Told him to dig a tunnel, then he died and returned to ask for help... Dig a tunnel is the answer, break out the terrain manipulator and aim at the ground infront of you and fire until you no longer get silica or long enough to make a tunnel. Enter it and go to the end and that should cover the storm damage. Nobody should die from storms. Could literally shoot the ground under your feet digging a hole until you are safe from the storm, or if you are a masochist to the core well below jetpack escape range.
I'M DOING MY PART
Starship Troopers is a classic
i'd rather just let the community do they're part then claim the rewards myself, nothing wrong in taking advantage of others hard work.
"They don't let you bring everything."
Me who started a new save a few days ago. "Yeah, yeah they do."
if you just reduce the size of the globe on the terrain manipulator, you get very close to 1000 per deposit.
That's one of my main issues. I gotta wait for everyone else before I can progress. I like to play my games at my own pace, and usually it's a fast pace. Ima just wait for the items to come to the store. The mech is the only thing worth a damn.
Not actually true. You can finish the entire expedition without those optional community ones. So, you can keep progressing, and then grab the rewards for those later when they get completed (although the rewards for those only apply to the expedition anyway, they don't involve anything that you can bring back to other saves unless you do the expedition from an existing save and want to, for some reason, bring those specific items back with you when ending it). But if you want the rewards for the optional milestones in order to progress, that is understandable, but those milestone's dont have to be claimed in order to complete the full expedition.
@@S0n0fG0D why so salty?
@@CriticalJbut wait, the rewards for these optional objectives are Liquidator Left Arm plans, Body plans, etc. Wouldn’t we be unable to craft said items if we skipped the optionals?
@@CriticalJone more thing I’d like to ask, in case you respond: it’s been a while since I’ve played the game…won’t I need to stay in the expedition save and check back in to collect the optional milestones?
Hahaha what a funny bug😂 Reminds me of that other one where you could make millions of credits very easy from the start
New player here too (i have the game about a week, 44 hrs in) but learing a lot from the GOAT Jason Plays !! Great Vids and great game ! Now i'm gonna start the expedition on a new save !!
Great show, Jason. I've never done an exhibition so I'm grategful for this video. You've taught me all I know about NMS, so thank you.
Love this update and the fact it's part 1 just has me excited for what's still to come
Jason got the 1,800 rounds fired milestone. AKA the first 2 mins of any A-TEAM episode…
Found an S tier sentinel and S tier weapon. Best expedition ive had to date 👍👍
placed a small fort on top of a centenal tower left a few holes to shoot down to get those walkers safely.
I discovered that bug with metal deposits on a vein of uranium. I'll never have to farm uranium again now. LOL
Love me some Exocraft!
- Want to cheaply and quickly expand your inventory space? Except for the Minotaur, you can find them with your Exocraft radar along with a number of other things.
- Need carbon? Shoot trees for a couple minutes in an Exocraft (usually 3x more dps on laser versus multi-tool) and I have 2-3k carbon.
- Tired of getting flanked by hoards? Put the AI upgrade in the Minotaur and slaughter stuff in the cross-fire from an entrenched position.
- Tired of running away or killing waves of sentinels when hunting for Echo Locators? Shoot from the Minotaur to see if it is a Mirror or Echo Resonator (plus you can collect Storm Crystals while protected inside the Minotaur as well as use the Bore tech like a Terrain Manipulator, though it is not as efficient with a 1-1 ratio at the lowest radius (R-key) setting) and then hop away towards the next Resonator.
- Always get a ship when trying to earn money? Hop in the Nautilon (don't even need to fuel it to use the Radar but it is a lot faster than swimming or hopping around in the Minotaur) and search for ONLY Drowned/Downed spaceships.
- Want a mobile ore vault that rolls over hazardous plants with no damage? Get the Colossus.
- Need to go up near vertical surfaces or want to stay on top of water? Get the Nomad.
- Like skidding and zooming around on a motorcycle while checking damaged equipment (drop pod looking things) for nanites and tech upgrades they drop? Get the Pilgrim.
In fact, except for 'steal 13 larva/eggs' and 'visit 6 way points', I have 'stumbled' into finishing pretty much all the missions so far while getting stuff for a better ship, base, money, and lots of nanites for upgrades to everything.
Pretty sure your wrong about having to kill the brood on the first planet. That Count that is stuck at 50 and counting started off with counting xx/50, and started counting on the planet that we spawned on. It stopped counting at 50 with no way to see how many you have killed there. On top of that kill quests/community quests have not limited to just one planet/system for completing them previously.
I meant to check if I could get closer to that floating eye creature when I had left the starter planet, but completely forgot.
I had spent so much time on the first planet doing different stuff and knocking out as much of the missions as possible before leaving >< lol I was actually able to complete a total of 13 different parts between the 5 phases in that first system before I finally warped to the second system.
Hey jason don't forget to scan the dangerous flora, that way you can gain the most from the plants
I spawned in on a new save with a big copper deposit right beside me. Got over 600 from it immediately. That made me happy.
Keep up the Great Work Jason Love your Videos
The optional seems to be connected to quicksilver missions too.
We need more info the whole community goal as a whole just accurately how many kills i got a day and in total and all that at this point im just stabbing in the dark because it has beenbm saying 50 for 2 days now in rhe bottem right corner so i litterly dont freaking even know what my progress is .... all this is starting to feel half assed
Well, the community goal is to kill the brood queen - whatever the new big bug is - sentinels, and the creatures that spawn when you try and take the whispering eggs. So, you could just go to almost any planet and kill any you find as well.
Honestly I think hg should have swapped rewards. The new mech parts shouldn't be locked in a time gate. The armor should be just saying. I was really bummed out by that
I used the tool on the smallest setting to get activated copper once and I got 2k+ of the ore so you just use on the lowest setting to get more
That kill 3 horrors can go blow a smurf. Mine would glitch the angler fish thing in the ground, and no amount of terraforming would break it free. Anyway solution: Plasma launcher.
8:20 I found my aggressive creature underwater without even looking for one there, so I got that one done real quick. ...lol...
Lucky man. I have spent hours trying to look for one but still nothing
Ive been searching since last night. @@AlessandroParisi95
@@AlessandroParisi95 Shoot jellyfish - worked for me.
Huh, so I really got lucky with my multitool then, at the start 3 supercharge slots are bunch up together. I thought we all had the same tools. i got the sentinel rifle. Shop was a hauler, so freaking slow
I like the ability to use a previous save. However, I do a fresh save everytime.
Can anyone please help me? The problem is not related to this video so I will apologize first. I am a new nms player. There is a main mission named 'the first traveller' and objective is 'learn the glyph sequence for this planet'. So for some reason I left that planet after starting the mission or I don't remember. Now I can't get back to that planet. I mean I have been jumping from system to system following the green line, and that mission is selected in the log. For some reason my freighter doesn't have base hyperdrive so I can't travel long distance in the map. I learned all the glyphs signs after seeing youtube videos. Now I am stuck teleporting from the system to system following the green line in the map which the current mission destination indicator. Can someone please give me some information or direction on how I can get to that planet?
If you went to the space station in the planet's system you can teleport from your nearest teleporter back to that system if you know the system name.
8:23 You can find a predator in the same system you start in, on the second planet. They’re found in caves. I found two animals that spawn in or near the caves - you’re not looking for the crab ones.
I found mine on the starting planet, in the ocean. The rare underwater one.
@@vidaj08 Oh wow, I didn’t come across any water on that planet and I was on it for a while. Maybe make this a separate comment (if you haven’t already) so people can find it easier!
The community milestones provide minotaur cosmetics, not exactly the most enticing of rewards. and I was kinda annoyed I needed to use the minotaur to complete the last stage. But it wasnt that bad considering I just dont like the exocraft I used a no tech overload mod and stacked cannon upgrades up the wazoo parked near an abandoned building, cleared it of swarms, enter/exit ship then reload the game to repeat visiting the building and swarms. All 50 and then some.
Tip for anyone starting this and you want carbon, all the carbon you can get, one of the planets to the right when looking at the planet the station orbits from just leaving the station is a radiation planet with tons of carbon, but needs to be harvested on foot though 20 minutes and more than a full stack is available. Excellent place to harvest humming eggs, those from that planet allowed me to buy and scrap 3 ships for parts to create an S Class fighter. Just need nanites and that's hunting sentinels you will need for several milestones. And I spent a couple hours on the planet with no storms or sentinels unless I harvested the sentient plants. So excellent planet for farming money early on to get rid of that garbage hauler you started with.
Thanks for the great video. I followed it exactly, got to the last task in Phase 1, landed my ship, took out all of the nasty green creatures and NO BROOD MOTHER?! What did I do wrong? Do I need to set the Difficulty higher?
Eardog Sigma starter planet have oceans, with 3 types of sea creatures, one of them is an Apex!
The overhaul is incredible a true current gen experience now for PC and console players they did a amazing job. Still a massive empty game with nothing to do but at least the graphics seem to be down packed now start added new quests and end game content
i just started a new file for the expedition and started playing, had about 3 of the milestones done before i even got to my ship without even looking at the list.. some on stage 3 and 4 are very easy.. like the kill xx hazardous flora. those bugs attack way to much, every time i go in a building they attack while i'm trying to loot stuff or use whatever is in the building, and they attack THROUGH the floor, so you can't even fight back until you go outside.. and they return to much, luckily they can't climb.
very early i found a random ship landed nearby (i have multiplayer off, so it was an npc) i talked to the pilot and bought an X level scanner update.. +3000% scanner payoff for animals, +1000% for plants. well well worth it.. had about 8 million units in just a few hours, bought a class A mult tool to better gather and squish the bugs.
I liked the rewards of the Adrift Expedition, but the tasks were super tedious in order to complete the phases, hopefully Liquidators will have fun tasks for its rewards
7:08 if this is exploit then why haven't they fixed the refiner dup glitch and hello games knows it exsists becuase they removed the ability to put tech items in refiner so this but shouldn't really be a big problem
I’m not a new player to no man sky but I’m new to expedition but I actually did it in 3 days so I did my part
The best place to find aggressive animals is in the water
Jesus, just use the smallest terrain manipulator size when mining copper!
We actually got the same multi tool im shocked.
And you got the rainbow trails. I'm even more shocked.
I'm not sure if it happened to anyone else, but as I was loading onto the planet for the first time, I immediately got attacked by biological horrors. Fortunately for me, I was invulnerable and they left as soon as I had control over my character.
Hey Jason do you have any videos on this new expedition about the sentinels task?
Infestation alpha site isn't on my radar. I went to the site and activated the terminal and nothing happened, now I don't even have an indicator on where to find the site anymore.
if you unlock the rewards for the mech on a expedition save, can you redeem those reward for free on your main save without doing the expedition or your main?
Yes :)
Just finished but will have to wait a week to claim, first level 1 is only at 13% need a lot more players have started a second round now.
Hey Jason quick question, if you complete the expedition before the community milestones are hit, will you still get the rewards?
Did they make the combat controls better?
Do you get to bring everything you get back to the main game? Like the ships and everything?
Guys I need to know something. I want to be able to keep the liquidator leg, body and arm parts after this expedition. So in order to have them later, should I save quicksilvers and buy them from the Qucik Silver Synthesis Companion at Nexus during the expedition or can I do it later in the normal game as well?
I haven't played since starfield came out... Would it be beneficial to start up a new game from scratch with this new update??
So if I do the expedition on a new save, will the rewards be shared with my main save or do I need to do the expedition on my main save?
Given the duplication bug they may not fix the regeneration of the resources exploit.
Something I noted on my 1st hour or so play . I got killed off fast by Biological Horrors within 10 minutes play .BUT ,Not from a Save beacon flag on my restart I did note that there was a tiny "cone " object ,not marked!, which was the trigger point but IF, you click on it you can claim a base computer location and neutralize that trig point so that what I'll do where possible and mark lots of dead spawn zones for myself
Also on Jason's playthrough I noted he did not encounter the Archive structure! Seen lots of players zooming in!
Not seen the Regen Materials Bug Yet though I actually saw something similar in aa recent update and thought that was flakey.
Long way to go...
Q? What is the Big Prize for this Expedition?
I have a question. Whenever the pop-ups that tell you to do something or give you a tutorial come up, they don't go away when I right click. I have to actually quit the game and then re-enter the game every time. Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong, or why they never go away when I right click? It's been happening since I bought the game, but it's particularly annoying during Expeditions because it's telling me things I already know, and it means I have to constantly quit and restart the game just to get rid of them. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
....so the sentinel walkers are damn near invincible and absolutely wreck you, how do you beat them? Someone help
Cannot find an aggressive animal anywhere at all
I don't know why, I'm a veteran player, but I'm getting 5fps at times. And I've done usual changes to try to help it. It's a pain but when it's not doing the 5fps thing, it's great.
If I do this expedition on a new save will all the rewards I get carry over to my 488hr main save? Or do I lose everything if I return to my main save?
I need help. I’m pretty sure purge by fire three just finished today because I unlocked the liquidator leg plans but my expedition file is glitched into thinking it’s at 99% and nothing works. Please help.
After playing valheim for several months and not NMS, I’m scared to be out during the night in NMS lol
Jason what’s the best way to complete the optional things
How are you scanning animals while not on them(26:17)? the flying animals give me so much trouble
Sooo I ended the expedition after finishing it. I’m new…. I assume there’s no way to get back in? My buddy just started it. 😢
Sadly - no :( You will know for the next time buddy, cheer up!
How do you start from a previous save?
HOW do you change the beam strength on the terrain tool???!?? i even searched for controls, it says there is no controller buttons?? and keyboard it T and B... so, even though i play with the xbox controller i tried hitting T and noticed nothing, tried B and noticed nothing.
I know there is some Duplication glitch When you combine 1 objects of the mineral extractors You're able to copy the item that you are trying to duplicate I mean yes I did abuse it but I didn't want to be sitting in one spot for another 200 and 10 hours The item that I decided to duplicate was compressed indium scraps Which sells for 3 million per one And you can stack up to 50.
willl you do each phase a video right?
What happens after the 6 weeks are over with this expedition new game file? Does it just continue on normally as a regular save file after the 6 weeks are over? I've never played this game before today so I'm just curious
I believe it just becomes a normal save. Even if you didn’t complete the expedition you’ll have a pop up that says that expedition is over.
I dont know how, but I lost my infestation site. I cant find it anywhere and dont feel like searching a whole planet to find it.. should i just restart the expedition? Been playing for a year now, this is my first expedition. Need help.
I’m New to No Man Sky, can you do previous expeditions like Adrift (14 I think) I want to get the Iron Vulture ship. I’m on Nintendo Switch.
Not usually no once an expedition has expired that’s it. Every once in a while Hello Games will reopen certain expeditions but I haven’t seen that happen very often.
It wont let me complete phase one
How long do we have to complete it? I’m at a camping trip and I want to know if I can do it
You have 6 weeks the do the expadition
@@HoomaanHedayat tysm
i'd rather just sit back and let the rest of the community do their part and then reap the rewards later.
nothing wrong with that.
Does anyone know where I can find a apex predator for the phase 3 mission?
Theyre all over the rendezvous planet. Just scan every animal you see. Itll eventually spawn one in.
Mine looked like a marsupial creature.
I put “Im doing my part!” As my message at the communication center. 🤘😂
Sad thing IS i cant do The expedition
Took me completing the expedition to realize there’s no torso or legs customization :/
Eardog Sigma 💀
Yeah not doing that, save editor where you at
No one report the mining resources bug 🤫😂
When you dig resources use R to minimize the dig size. It takes longer to dig but gives more resources. A bit more efficient.
Jason we need more clear explenation from hello games what to do in this communitygoal there is no markers not even a single message on were you need to go.
if i wasnt watching your stream i wouldnt have known either because nobody gets the fact you need to be on the correct rendevouz planet to even make your kills count on top of that mine is saying 50 for two freaking days now i dont get what im doing wrong and there is no clarification ingame we need more info on how this works and they need to step up and be more clear on how many kills i got not just a 3 second small notification in the corner i want it loud and clear what im doing
and i think it rediculous after all they did this one feuture is bare bones.
They want us to spend more time here but what am i even doing here if i cant see my own freaking progress
11:25 you get the resources regardless of scanning. Scanning just tells you what the mystery resource is, it has no effect on the resource gathering beyond units received for just scanning,
Finally get the update on xbox, and my newish laptop is running like dogshite! Ugh
Hey guys why I have systems discovered by other players in my systems list? This happens after I move around a bit in the galaxy map
Because you visited the systems I guess.
Completed the expedition a few minutes ago. When will the Purged by Fire objectives complete lol
Did you (or anyone) notice that previous expedition rewards were available to claim again? I went in just to look, and I was able to get the atlas staff again but I am worried it would remove it from my main save or whatever. I could also claim the ship before the vulture (I forget the name). Seems like a glitch?
3rd
Yeah.. first thing that irritated me. No ship or Multitool to load. Uhm... Whats with that? Why bother allowing resources or install packages then? Uhm.. I dont like the tone of that.
You didn't get the ship copy or the multitool copy buttons when you picked your stuff up? Costs some Nanites but I tossed in some items to get easy nanites and copied mine.
@@SeeTheWholeTruth you pick up your stuff at the nexus
Second?
