I plan to install the WD Blue SA510 SATA 1TB 2.5" SSD on clearance for $50 at Walmart. The aluminum cover made the SSD unit too thick to fit, but i just removed the four screws holding it onto the plastic frame of the SSD circuits. Now it fits and the SATA interface connects with no adapter.
You mean the bracket/caddy?
@@ItsBinhRepaired No, I unscrewed the aluminum cover and removed it from the SSD. Then the SSD fits right into the space.
Nice
A) There are two additional screws under the footpads by the hinges on some Yoga 2 11 systems. They will break off if you force them but the cover may crack. B) If he didn't already mention it, remove the cover and check which drive you have before attempting an upgrade. I have the standard 2.5" SATA connectors in my Yoga 2 11.
This is for the 20332 model
Drive upgrade with 8GB or 16GB of FLASH on a 500GB "spinner" was either Seagate SSHD or the WD drive in the video, having "Express"SATA 12gbs on a small connector in the corner. Seagate SSHD has ordinary separated data and power in the center of the drive "butt end". I yanked the "SATAe" in your video from my Yoga 2 11 and it's cable and used part# DC020C004Q00 cable with a "shucked" 2.5" SSD
Sounds good
Very helpful. Thank you.
when you remove hdd, you didn't remove battery 1st?
Per its guide, seems removing battery is necessary.
Not necessary, just make sure the computer is off.
I can't open the damn thing, I removed all the screws and the cover opens all around the laptop. But it seems to be stuck somewhere in the middle. I wanted to change the battery, but it just won't open.
Wiggle the cover. There are clips
Hey there! Great video btw. Anyways im looking for a 1tb ssd that can fit in my Lenovo Yoga 2 11 so you got any recommendations?

Any ideas of the touch screen can be driven by an external driver board if I want to repurpose it ?
Technically anything is possible, but I don't know how. I'm sure there's a way.
Can i replace my yoga 211 battery by myself at home? Could you please guide me how to?
Just have to pull the connector out and remove the screws. If you watch enough of my different laptop battery removal videos, you should be able to figure it out.
There's a few SSD's that actually fit. I know Kingston and Samsung are tight but fine. I believe you can get up to 7mm thick SSD's in there if you remove the foam from the cover. Any idea how to figure out what kind of dual band or even just 5ghz cards would fit this computer? Being limited to 2.4ghz has been terrible.
I'm not sure to be honest.
Do you mean the WiFi/Bluetooth card? I don't know much about that, but I searched on Google and apparently you cannot change it because the new one has has to be whitelisted on a BIOS level.
I saw in some forum that a kind user was sharing personalized BIOS of the Yoga 2 11 depending the card, so you only needed to flash it.
Flashing a BIOS is a high risk, and maybe that person is not longer reachable, so perhaps it's better to simply buy an WiFi dongle.
It's a pity because the normal one is quite mediocre.
@@Thorin88 yeah...sadly that's usually the case. :(
It can be hard to route the 5GHz antennas in a chassis this slim.
Bryan Minugh makes sense. I still haven’t found the solution. Might just get another hard drive and replace when they start getting slow as they’re cheap now.
Hello Thank you for the great info. I have a question my Lenovo yoga 2 keeps disconnecting from the Wifi again and again. I can't stay on a website with wifi more then 10 mins before it disconnects me then I have to reconnect. Why would this be? and how can i get it fixed? Thanks for any advice it is much appreciated.
Might be a bad wireless card. Try wired internet to see if it works ok.
@@ItsBinhRepaired thank you for this information.
Hope it helped. If you haven't already don't forget to like and subscribe so others can find my videos. Thanks!
In "power and Sleep"->"change advanced settings" there's a tree structure like file explorer. Change wireless to "Max performance", so the transmitter doesn't get a power cut after 10mins.
Hope it works.
Question I have a 500gb HDD would a 1T SSD be better than the 500gb SSD?
Size only matters for storage capacity, not for performance. SSD will be much better
I can only get certain screws out, all the ones in the front are in there tight and i’m just stripping them :(
Might be using the wrong size screwdriver
@@ItsBinhRepairedYes I was, haha thanks

I am going to replace the HDD I'm gonna need to grow my nails then.
Or order pry tools, whichever is faster/cheaper/preferred. Lol

Hello, my lenovo yoga 2 11 bios and hard disk is locked with password and doesn't remember . How do I fix the problem ?
I don't know of a way to remove those if forgotten.
reset ?
@@ELIEDI unless there's a bios password jumper on the motherboard, I think you have to replace the motherboard
Can you do RAM upgrade with that model, Lenovo Yoga 2-11
If I didn't mention it in the video, I don't know.
RAM is soldered to the board. you would need to be an expert in soldering and find a scrapped board with the larger RAM capacity to even attempt it.
Where do you find 5mm ssd?
Not sure. I think they're all 7mm now
You could possibly remove the outer casing. The SSD inside is actually much smaller and thinner.
@@ItsBinhRepaired you think I can fit a 7mm? Any tips?
@@lilgeorge248 this might work amzn.to/3oOcZXa
@@lilgeorge248 this for sure will work amzn.to/3nH3tFH
Oh man... My brother has this laptop which is basically useless as the motherboard is dead..
