- ** CORRECTION UPDATE ** ... I took a picture of the wrong graph, FINAL DYNO WAS 269HP AND 270TQ!! 3HP Peak and 11TQ Peak Gains with HUGE Gains from 3200RPM to 6000RPM!
I got the IMRC delete plates installed and I got the EGR delete installed and had the 1997 SVT Mustang Cobra Tuned. Gains at 3400RPM and 4200 RPM were HUGE thanks to Matt at Mustang Muscle!!
I'm just glad those drops in the band are gone and it's smooth now.
Mods currently are:

*****CORRECTION***** Peak power after tuning was 269HP and 270TQ! That's a 3HP and 12TQ Peak Gain over Baseline from last year. Gains through the RPM Range were HUGE!
1:06 for IMRC Weight Loss
1:08 for Dyno Pulls
2:53 for Dyno Gains
3:32 for HP and TQ Gains Discussion
Nice content bro I’m just now starting to build my 97 GT
Nice man good luck with it!
I’ve read so many back and forth opinions on IMRC deletes but if you don’t lose much or any power from doing it I see it as a good thing- two less mechanical pieces in there to gum up or get stuck. Do you still have the Cobra? Haven’t seen any posts in awhile. Either way, I really appreciate you posting. I finally got my 97 home after a year of sitting and you and TruckandRoll have provided a WEALTH of knowledge and info about these cars and it’s been instrumental in helping me get the issues sorted out on my car!
Thanks man, if the imrcs are gummed up like mine then you will gain some power. I sold it in July, wanted to just keep focus on 1 car which is my daily Durango
So I just bought my 98 cobra
Dyno sheet 297hp
Shorty headers
C&l cold air intake
Bigger maf
K&N filter
X pipe & slps
373s
Msd coils n cables
And it has the code for the IMRC
Those 4.6 with 225cc intake port needs 4.30s and 4.56 to really squeeze the maximum
Epa has entered the chat
EPA can leave now...
Nice gain...good job 👍
Im deleting mine on my 98 cobra just deleting the imrc will i need a tune and what would you suggest to use?
Yeah it needs a custom tune. I had a local mustang tuner tune mine
Ok so I am planning on deleting my 5.7 hemi I understand it keeps your internals cleaner and can increase throddle response and free up 3-25hp and torque without anything else is it worth it?
What iz done with all lines an or hoses from egr?? Thx
I did this years ago so I don’t really remember everything. I capped some lines removed the rest
Nice
When you say
oil additives (at least 4 x), are you going say which additive you used? Maybe it's me.
Definitely looking to delete the IMRC and EGR on my 97. How did you reroute the EGR hoses?
So the only thing I did myself was the SAI aka smog pump. I’ve got a video on my channel for that. I had a local company install the IMRC delete plates and just had them do the egr while they were at it so I don’t know how they routed anything. Definitely looks cleaner under the hood though!
Oh for sure!
Was it running rough after the deletes? Or did the tune clean all that up?
I’m not sure because I didn’t drive it after the deletes i had those installed and immediately had it tuned after
I deleted my IMRC on my 97 picked up 40 rwhp but that was with 10lbs boost you don’t gain much naturally aspirated
Cool video. New sub
Thanks man, hit ya back! A lot more to come on this thing!
Where u get egr delete
There no gains in imrc deletes its been proven .pullys and a better fender well intake would help more.
And it's also been proven they lose a significant amount below 3000 where you spend most of the time driving around on the street.
@@Milehighsnake98 i agree 100 percent. What you said is a fact.
Hang on.. then why does this video prove otherwise?
Imrcs gunk and can significantly hurt peak power. Theres more to the delete than just power. Ive seen little loss down low and not much difference up top on a 140k mile 94' Mark with 3.08 gearing. That said, the last time i pulled the upper manifold, it was obvious that there was less carbon building up on the seccondary ports.
@@nicholash8021 Most of the power gains are in the tune
You use a diablo tuner , how much does it cost to have that done
It was an sct tuner. I think the tune was like $300. I can’t really remember it was a long time ago
@@ZacWade ok, thanks. You didn't have to put it on a dyno did you
@@scottschmitz6061 for the tune I did because it was dyno tuned
@@ZacWade mines all stock you think I need to put it on a dyno ?
@@scottschmitz6061 you may be able to find a remote tuner to remote tune it
Waste of money unless using a power adder. The MMR 96-98 Cobra intake spacer will give those kind of gains with no tune required and no loss of throttle response.
Wait savings as a reason to install? With an all aluminum engine? Hmm...
Dude they get gummed up are you slow? They aren't needed they did away with them in 99. Especially if you have a gear and a ported short runner. So no it doesn't only benefit you when boosted.
Was that a mustang dyno they read lower.
Dynojet
Does the tune require a chip?
It did not
96 up odb2 doesn't need chip for tuning they can be flash tuned like modern cars.
Just get some zip ties to hold the cables open.
