Many years ago, my dad recommended me to read Pillars of the Earth. He ended up buying it for me and I read like the first chapter, and then DNFed it. I was very young at the time, and not ready for that kind of read. Now that I am in my 30s, I decided to repurchase it at my thrift store. Its on my TBR for this year!

I love this video prompt! I’ve never read One True Love, but I do like Taylor Jenkins Reid so I’ll need to check this one out! 567 pages in one day!? That is so impressive! I’ve watched Ready Player One but never read the book! I REALLY want to read Hail Mary!!!! Love these recommendations!

I’ve never heard of The Pillars of the Earth. You’ve got me interested and I’m adding it to my TBR. I really enjoyed Ready Player One and loved Project Hail Mary. So if you liked those then I’m sure I’ll like Pillars.
Jurassic Park is a great book. I read it a long time ago, but remember not wanting to put it down. If you like sci fi that’s a good one. It’s similar to the movie, but not exactly the same.

Okay! I’ve never considered reading Jurassic Park but now I really want to. Pillars is so so good, I hope you love it if you pick it up!

Ready Player One is pretty much the standard for the elements-of-nostalgia read, but that also means that being aware of those elements is key to getting the most out of it - you noted that the references "didn't bother you" but does that mean you weren't familiar with many of them? It would be worth watching Star Wars/The Shining/Back to the Future/etc. just to get more out of the story, but that'd be another binge entirely. I'd advise against Cline's other books, he clearly had people focusing him for this one story who were entirely absent for the others. But the movie version is definitely worth it, among the most entertaining films of the new century for sure 📖👍❤

Thank you for the comment! That is correct- I was unfamiliar with most of the references, and I personally found that it didn’t detract from my experience at all. Still gave this book 5 stars because of how much fun I had! I have not heard great things about the sequel so don’t plan on reading it. Happy reading to you!!

What a fun video! The last book that I truly binged was "The Unmaking of June Farrow". It had me hooked.

@@mansparekh Fair warning: some of elements don't make total sense, but I still enjoyed it

Love the mix of genres here 👏 totally agree that Ready Player One is binge worthy! Which reminds me that I still need to check out the sequel (although I heard it isn’t as good 🫣)
I’ve been wanting to read Project Hail Mary but I still need to get to The Martian since I already have it on my shelf!

Ugh yeah I heard ready player two is not so great ☹️ so probably not gonna pick it up myself. Don’t wanna ruin the magic!
Everyone seems to have a different opinion on whether they like PHM or The Martian more! I’m gonna be so curious what you think
