- This is Lucky. 2 years old Congo African Grey parrot. He a fully trained free flight parrot. Safety precautions had been made before flying him outdoor.

I stopped letting mine outside the last time I did he came flying right back with a big hawk following him scariest moment of my life.
True, the risk is big when you bring them outdoors. Thank god, yours did manage to comeback. To have them fly safely needs a lot of research, observation of the site and lots and lots of training for the bird. I give the final training for my bird where i flew him near the crows area. First engaged with him with 1 or 2 crows. Slowly he learned how to maneuver away from the crow chase.
A hawk attacked my baby Coco while we was at the park. I do not advised anyone letting their parrot free flight without checking for hawks/bad weather like storms and strong wind, most parrots will get scared and will not be able to come back
I was wondering about hawks I’d be scared to let my parrot free flight in my area there’s hawks everywhere glad your bird was okay!
I was going to say the same thing. I had a hawk try to grab my grey right out of his tree--in my living room window. The hawk saw the screen in the window and hovered for a moment before flying off. Someone I know had her cockatoo snatched right off her shoulder while sitting on her patio. The cockatoo struggled, got free only to be snatched up again by the hawk and that was it. No more cockatoo.
Lol I feel like I shouldn’t laugh
Last year my macaw flew out of the window without any outdoor training and I was scared it would land on the streets with vehicles passing by but it did a full circle round the town like yours and landed at our tree house. Took me awhile to get it down the tree.
Macaw are better flyer than grey. Yes you definitely need to train your macaw. For me, i emphasize on training for safety purpose rather than training for free flight. Because we hope in case things happen like your case, we can retrieve back the bird without harm.
so cute Parrot : D
Thank you. 💝
This guy is good I've seen some of his videos and you can tell his bird is happy and loves him confident boy.
Lol his parrot thinks his so cool 😊😍😁
Fenomenale...... 😍😉👍
It’s such a scary thought to me, even with training.
True. To come to this level, i did a lot of trainings in the open space.
Fabulous, grey is the best.
Thank you 🙏
I adopted my grey when he was 6years old! We had a at first connection bird won’t leave me alone when at home let’s say lol! How ever I lost my bird 3 time and we found him with some good effort specially at first time as he was completely lost in different neighbourhood after 3 day I was broken down24/7 had crew out keeping eye on every tree until I found him!
i am so sad one is out here in los angles feels like my bird the owners are not even doing allot of flyers - he was seen by a food truck then barking at a lady walking her dog - and now over 2 miles into a different neighborhood!!! what is the secret more flyers !???? any tips would help so much - besides flyers. thank you 🙏
Alot people are mad at your for this, but infact i commend you for it birds don't belong in cages, they can happily live in them but they need exercise and to strech there wings, some species fly 100s/1000s miles can't do that in a cage. Your obviously very enthusiastic and your birds clearly love you, keep up the great work
Thank you for your kind words. I understand where they are coming from. Not many people understand this. And we can't make them understand it. I also wouldn't recommend to to do this. Not all people suitable for this lifestyle.
Trust level is ✨✨✨🔥🔥🔥
I wish I could let my grey fly free like this. Unfortunately, too many predatory birds where I live.
If you said so, yes, you should not fly them out door. But just train them indoor, so that if accident happen you can retrieve the bird safely.

Good job
He such a good bird! How do you get him to come back though?
Hi. I do a lot of training with him. Do the basic one a lot more so that he can respond and develop better skills
Lots of training. Never let your bird outside if you haven’t trained it properly, even if it’s wings are clipped.
Fun fact. Parrots can actually love their owners, they're not just simple beasts with instincts. If you treat them right, and show them some love, they would want to stay with you for life and not want to run away. I know that wasn't your question. You were asking, how do you get him to come back when you call him, not how you keep him from flying away for good. I just thought I'd throw that in there.
@@michaelhernandez3220 Yes, BUT proper training is required to more safely free fly your bird. A strong bond does not make up for lack of skill and good recall.
@@parrotmalltv2606 🥲🙄🤔 I never ever see that with other birds
Impresionante 😲 ¿como lo has conseguido?
Well ,the was someone years back that was living his grey fly ,and the bird never came back, here in RUclips like 9 or ten years ago,I hope this grey keep coming back,my I take her out but very close to me
Can you explain how you trained him to do this? Did you start somewhere with few trees outside and teach him to come back?
I started training recall indoor first since age 2.5 months old. I did all kind of angle, surface, level and add in obstacles. Once he is good and very responsive, this I do some desensitize training outdoor. Let him see and adapt to outdoor situations that can cause hazard during free fly. I put him in cage and place him ourside. He will slowly adapt to the situation. Once I was stable. And clam, then I Train recall outdoor with harness. After 2 weeks of training I bring him to an open space and train there with friends. Then we slowly gain confidence to off leash him. Everything you must do it slowly bit by bit. For Outdoor flight, i started at open space. Every weekend will train there. Weekdays indoor. Until now i still train him. Don't forget the basic. Refer my video for basic indoor recall.
Lucky African Grey thank you so much! I will do the same with my grey. I will be very patient like you said and take it slowly. Thank you!
@@kristaschaefer3660 you are welcome. Best of luck. Looking forward to see your progression.

whats the furthest he ever went? are you always scared that he might fly off? was there a time he almost went off?
I think about 1km away/18 minutes flight. Yes. If he couldn't find me, we might land temporarily on a tree. Until he sees me or find his way back
My free flight gray is getting more skilled, but I still have concerns about let her fly in urban areas because someone could catch and clip her wings
So cute .have one but I will die if he get lost
True.
Awesome! We had an African grey parrot once called Snowy. But be careful of your parrot with wild birds!!
Wow I take my parrot outside but he just explores the yard and doesn’t fly away, he flew away ones because he was angry for some reason and he didn’t want to go back inside and it took me 11 hours to find him but ever since then he just chills outside, I want him to free flight it’s healthy for parrots but I don’t know how to train him and give your parrot some water in between rounds too 👍
Hi. Sorry for my late replies. Everything need a step by step training. I did my indoor training quite frequent. From basic recall, Decending, ascending, blind recall and etc. Until now that basic training i still do it. For start i only flew him at open space with friends. So less risk if you fly alone and at the congested area. I did it like 6 months until i saw his potential to only fly and land on me. Once i saw that, then i slowly put some obstacles and flew at different level of the area. Everything i did a slowly and i did a lot of research before i do everything.
My Lucky Grey i tried it too but he doesn’t listen even with treats, I think because when I got him he was 2 years and a couple months old and his previous owner never trained him and used to clip his wings too so I think he doesn’t really understand why I’m telling him to do these things
@@princevegeta9149 understood now. If raise from baby it will be easier. But as for your case, maybe free flight outdoor not a must but we can train indoor. Try to gain trust between you and him, then try to identify his favorite treat. To make the treat value higher, change this diet to healthy diet. Like mine i only gave him vege, fruits and pallet for his daily meal. Treat like sunflower seed and almonds i only give during training. So ge really love when it comes to training session. Try to search for target training. Do target training with your grey. It is easier to que him.
My Lucky Grey thnx 👍
don’t do that . are you crazy he will fly one day and you will be very very sorry - one is out here now because the clowns here did this . 10 years and he never flew. at 7-10 years old they want a mate - and he took off - trying to track him it’s insane and they can fly really far - so cut out the flaky behavior and put a harness on him it’s not dare to the bird .
There a video were he drives in the car and his parrot is flying next to him.
👏👏👏👏
Thanks ♥️
How it is find house correctly???
This must be so unnerving
I got an African grey 6 months ago and it is very attached to me I used to sit with him in the lawn and trusted him a lot but few days back he flew to the end of the street and I had to run after it. I thought he had gone and would never come back but then I saw him hanging upside down on a branch of a palm and I called him and he flew and sat on my fingers and his heart was beating. Can you kindly explain this behaviour? Did he intend to run away?
I did the same thing with my budgie
He never came back
Small bird very different with bigger bird. They tend to scared a lot of things.
That’s because you didn’t train it, you can’t just expect your bird to know how to navigate, land, and turn. It takes months of work.
Do you live in an area with no predators? My area has lots of hawks and falcons. Some day i would like to own and african grey and teach him free flight but i would have to move to an area with no birds of prey...
My area still has predators like brahminy kite and biggest is whitebelly sea eagle.
How do you teach a parrot to return like that?
Need to do lots of training. Can refer to my other videos on how to train parrot. Part 2 and part 2.
Eh, ade myvi lah...
Myvi? Haha.
Do you have to practice outdoor flying everyday to achieve that? Also what is her diet
😍 Please Give him a pistachio each time he comes back! 🍀🐦 💕 🏆
Im planning on getting one. Do they usually come back? Im afraid they might get lost. And do they talk?
*How do you prevent the hawk or eagle attacks?*
I m also trying to buy a African talking parrot like yours so can u make a video about the parrot talking to you and making him train
Yeah. Good luck with training your grey. Try to understand their body language
Which tracker would u recommend for parrots ?
How long do African grey parrot lifespan
About 30 - 70 years is the average life spand of a grey
How do you train your parrot not to fly away?!?
By taking small steps. You need to train your parrot for a long time before "releasing" it. Otherwise it will fly away and won't come back
Wow, I am not able to hold him with my hand he bits me manytimes
I want one so badly, but I would want to adopt and I don’t think it would be an easy task to train an adult bird to freefly
You have to start with baby bird
@@jamesjiya3337 I never see any baby parrots for sale, usually only adult ones.
@@fancysenpai7406 i understand, i am facing the same predicament now, hopefully i will get one soon.
I have had my Grey outdoors once with his wings clipped. He had never made it more than 10 feet before in the house but he got startled by a car and somehow took to the sky. Took me a couple hours of knocking on neighbor's doors to track him down. It was more traumatic for me than him so no more of that.
Yes. Even wings clipped did not guarantee the bird wont fly and safety of the bird. Luckily you got him Back. ❤️
thank god

Hi. I'm quite not understand your question.

Ya boss.
Does your parrot talks ??
Yes. He does ❤️
I'm wondering, do you think I should let my Grey free fly? If so how do I make sure she doesn't fly away?
your all nuts if you see one video like this and are asking this .
your bird will take off and not return don’t be such a dumb dumb and you have no right to do this to tbe bird
again totally out of there minds -
Yea it’s all fun and games till one day the birds flys away doesn’t come back, or gets swooped up by a hawk or eagle. Real smart. Your a lot braver then me. That’s a lot of money flying free.
Yep. You are not wrong. Free flight is a risk. A lot of research and analysis done before we attempt to fly them.
Its a living creature. If you get a pet which lives for 30+ years and spend all that time and effort training and bonding with it the price of the bird is insignificant
A lot of $? That’s what your pet is for you?
How do You do it?
I really love these birds, but most of them are really overpriced. I'm looking for a younger one to adopt in Los Angeles; Any ideas?
I try my pet to fly fre but never come back 😅😅
Hi, please am from Ghana can you please help me to get one,
Where are you located?

@@parrotmalltv2606 I thought you were in Congo.
Hehe. No.
that's actually risky what if he dosen't come back ???
True. Free flight your bird outside is very risky.
It's heartbreaking when a hawk takes them from you which is what happened to my friend. Is it worth the risk? Not in my book.
I would be so terrified he wouldn't return...oh no!
He's mapping the area, when you say he looks around before he flys..its calle mapping...my bird is free flight TRAINED (I feel the need to say that in cap locks because ud be amazed by how many ppl think they can bring a bird they don't have long and expect it to come back .) Theres a lot of hours traininga bird tofree fly ..I was lead to believe ag,s .are 1 of the hardest bird to train out of all the different birds I see that are flight trained, but what ppl don't get is , it's not just about them being able to go fly it means you're bird has a better quality of life than a bird stuck in a cage outside there out of cage time, and what better way to build a bond with a new bird...without having to ever touch them..one tip I'll give is get your bird used to having its feet held..most hate u touching there feet at all..but if ff trained its VIP to have down if you need to hold onto the bird. Love from Ireland....I've not found anyone else who f flys there macaw here in Ireland if anyone knows someone plz say my bird would love another to fly with..hes not even seen another macaw yet..I'm exited for that..
Thank you for your kind words. Very very true what you said. All of ths reqired lots and lots of training and understanding the birds behavior. i manage to do this after my Grey was 2 years old. Once i understand him, i have confidence to fly him at this condition. Handling and training Free flght birds arre more sensative compare to the one did not. I applied lots of positive reinforment training and reduce anything that can cause negative reinforcement.
you have an obligation to make sure he’s got a friend or mate they want to talk about quality of life ??? get the bird a mate
@migjty alfie I have 3 now ..I totally agree, we've had a horrible few months my husband died so when I was offered another rescue after only taking one 8 months ago..I went to see her thinking no way but she was so small under developed and thin I couldn't leave her..she's a beautiful little sparrow, she's having her 1st morning here right now..I'll be uploading her big day to the vet yesterday, ..at some point this week ..
@Parrot Mall TV I know a woman here who's been trying to train one..she flys conure and taught getting an ag to fly would make her look a better trainer, now she's very stuck..and has come back being nice to me hoping I'll help..I told her I wouldn't gey one, I'm all about Macaw,I told her there's a man in Dublin who has trained a couple so gar..I've 3 Macaw since that comment and lost the help I had with the birds in the form of my husband, he died in December so it's been hard on me and our birds..bigbie went to bed one night all was normal ..woke up the next day his person was gone ..as I said so hard
