Great video! Very enjoyable! What did you burn for running the engine? I burn Mamod Solid Waxed Fuel Tablets on my D16. However I know somebody who burns strange things like hand sanitizer, paper, coal and wood in the model steam engine
@@teescottageguyproductions Do you have any ideas for a good way to keep a Wilesco D16 running for a long while? I might experiment with hand sanitizer on my Wilesco soon.
@@jonesthesteamfunnily enough the D16 on this video was running on sanitiser for the video. Mainly use hot water in the boiler, it reduces boiling time and saves fuel. Also don’t leave the main steam valve fully open, fully open it for startup, once the engine is steady steaming close it back until you hear a drop in RPM

Thank you very much. I used mamod tablets too. I actually experimented with sanitiser once and I hated it 😂

@@teescottageguyproductionsOk thank you! I understand the tips!
I’ve seen people who put oil on the safety valve before lighting up to help it lift. Is this a good idea?
Great vid, love your D16!
Thanks!
Great video I love your d16 next do the fire engine
Thanks
Is it possible to heat up a wilesco engine with wood?
Arguably yes but it is not recommended on boilers like this
