It’s amazing how well the housing stood up to the abuse! It’s good that even with “budget” offerings, that you’re not getting the flimsiest housing imaginable.
You’re right about the cost on the mounts. But I did almost cry when I broke the knock off and my RNVGS went whipping around hanging off the bungees, and the nerd. My nerd I dead corded off down through the rear lug for the battery pack which is hard mounted on the rear of my helmet.
Love my molded katanas (the glass from CNV could be a bit better but that's on them) the bare essentials are all that's necessary for NVGs. Most people don't need an onboard illuminator or manual gain.
Oohhh I'd be interested in the 4.0s to see if there is more weight savings. The glass is....okay. Between the boomslang and the RPO I'd probably go boomslang though.
I dunno... Twitter isn't great. It's like rumble ... but some how worse edit: my twitter feed is just twitter suggesting everything Elon posts... it's kinda dumb (plus I'm not calling it X because that's also dumb)
@@MrKingArthurhk Elon is about to get smoked for election interference, he’s completely cooked. Just hide and watch, he won’t make it out of 2025 outside of a jail cell or a pine box. But gold star, I’m sure he appreciates your constant worship. Good job! 👍🏾
That’s one of the things I hated about binos. Put them to your eyes and natural night vision would take awhile to come back. I know there is now a 40k panoramic 4 tubes out there that make my neck hurt just thinking about it. I wonder if a single Katana would work for the shooting eye and a separate Infrared device for spotting heat signatures?
The issue is finding the perfect pairing that your brain likes. Most thermals are a slight magnification so you won't get 1 to 1 overlays between the two eyes If you can swap between dominant eyes you can do it... or just lift one side up as you use the other It's doable but I'd probably just say to run nods and a thermal clip on on the scope
we have the hoplite. The problem is input lag. That's the time it takes from the image to the unit....to be processed...and then output. The technology is only good enough with no matter what you do to be as fast as 2 frames per second. Which is about 30ms. Can you notice that? Most people say yes. but we'll see with some of the new gen 2 stuff. The digital NV also generally uses HORRRIBLE glass with even worse fish eye. So it can be really bad even if the unit is really good.
So are you saying not to buy from steele industries? There prices are insane! But the reputation is great. I like nocturne and steele can't decide where to buy my first nv unit from.
I think that depends on your skill level. It takes a lot more knowledge and coordination to piece it all together The full build is just simple... as long as they have the tubes you want. Nocturn has a ton of partners so I'd call them so you don't make it even more complicated
Night vision works with an intensifier to brighten or darken areas of the screen. The color of the tubes is just a filter in the manufacturing process. Making the electrons show which color isn't possible, unfortunately. Digital night vision has color....sort of. Most of that light transmission (colorization) is lost when you're in the lower spectrums also, which is why you see the white/black images from digital night vision security cameras. So you're really brining up a physics problem as there is no color at that level.....so you'll likely never see that.
He’s just talking about housings. You can put whatever tubes you want in the katanas. A lot of guys seem to be dropping in Elbit WP into these to keep the cost reasonable
yes, appreciate it. You can put whatever tubes in you want. As to what they have available, I'd hit up Nocturn as the website isn't indicative of what all their partners also have available.
So not very knowledgeable here. So forgive me but is this a complete unit or do I have to buy more components other than helmet, mount battery. As in do these come with tubes?
yes it can depend. I'd recommend calling Nocturn or a company directly like Custom Night Vision. They'll walk you through everything you need and possible compatibility issues.
That setup looks amazing!

yea I was pretty worried about this like "ok....what am I sacrificing here? Oh nothing?? Perfect!"
It's been on my wishlist for quite a while now.

Love the video ❤ when is the opscore tour coming
soooon. working it!
lol the sound at the intro. This looks like it should be in the next giveaway.
The wheel would be extra disappointing if it was!
haha how wild would it be if I could work that out

I may be upgrading to RPO4.0s once they're properly vetted. Glad night vision is becoming more accessible to the general public.

RUclips being gay again and it took me a minute to type in “Thin Line” usually the profile pops up immediately but not this time.
They're learning we hate them lol
RUclips is gay and I wish Elon would buy it and all the garbage rules would be gone for good.

Yes this is a thing.
besides for the built-in retention on ops-core helmets, do you use anything else for retention?
I have the Jawless hog and the DM one. Both are great
Does it have compatibility with a thermal imager overlay?
That I'm unsure. Which one?
You should review the hrs 31 digital nvg thermal combo

I think Steele is fine! I don't have any qualms there. There are just a few units that can be insanely pricey but Steele seems gtg

No panned katanas yet eh?
I've been keeping my eyes out for those... I want to try to combine it with boomslangs!
@ I hope
Someone competes with boomslang this year maybe at shot show, as we need wide fov lenses that cost around the rpo price range
yea that would be nuts
