Make the next vampire crab one. Love to see more videos like this.
Oh yea , these guys are a treat to any planted tank/ nano tank . I've been breeding these guys for about 4 months now and that's been relatively easy too . Best thing about these guys compared to the normal crays is that they could have a scrimmage amongst themselves and will walk away without having their claw or limb cut off whilst at it . Any way with that being said , here how I breed them for anyone who's interested :-
So I went to my local fish store and got a hold of a trio of em . I had them in a relatively small tank ( a 12 by 6 by 6 ) in order to up the chances of the male (s) mating with the female (s ) and it turned out that I had 2 males and 1 female . After adding them in I noticed just 2 crays out with one not to be seen often a week after I got them . I picked up the piece of driftwood that served as a hideout for them and fair enough I notice a female carrying eggs . I got the other two crays out leaving the momma with the tank to herself . What I suggest is providing the brooding cray with just a single hideout because if you provide too many , the cray's gonna hide most of the time as they feel very vulnerable with eggs under their swimmerets . Next as for substrate use a black or light brown sand , fine sand . This makes it easier for the newborn crays to move around once born and provides a good contrast between the baby crays and the sand , making it easier for you to spot them as well . Filtration wise , its best to use a sponge filter hooked up to an air pump . Now , when it comes to taking care of the momma , feed her sinking pellets of your choice just right out of her cave , dropped the pellets such that they fall just outside the entrance of her cave . Any un eaten food must be removed after 4 hours . You may change 50% of her tank's water every week . Repeat these steps for around 2 to 3 weeks and you'll one day find baby crays peppered all over the tank .
Now that your breeding's been successful , remove the momma and add her into another tank and have the babies in a tank to themselves . I prefer feeding the babies sinking food that's of the granular type because this way each cray can grab a piece for itself and so they don't have to have a scrimmage over food during feeding time but any sort of sinking pellets will do. I'd say having snails in the tank housing can be beneficial as any un eaten food that gets leftover by the crays gets eaten by the snails . When it comes to water changes now , use the air line tubing you use to connect air pumps to sponge filters as a siphon as it has less suction power compared to the normal siphon which reduces the chance of a cray getting sucked in it .
I've not mentioned anything about water temperature as I live in India ( Karnataka ) and my tanks are usually of the same temperature to the weather , they get a little colder during the monsoon season but that's fine . See what temperature works best for you accordingly is what I have to say . And yes , better have them all the males and females picked out and housed in separate tanks as they'll start breeding fairly quick . I didn't and I once had 5 brooding females at once .
Feel free to ask me any questions , cheers !
Is this crayfish will eat plants leaves? Or like cherry shrimp they eats algae, beside from sinking food
@@cherno6592 No . When it comes to Dwarf mexican crayfish , they're plant safe and unlike the normal crays don't cut the stems of plants if any in the aquarium . I have my Dwarfs with moss , anubias and vallisneria in my tanks and they don't chop up any of the plants as such .
@@siddharthrm6385 beside sinked pellets, what do they eats? Algae?
@@cherno6592 No , not really . They'll give the algae a graze every now and then but depend on sinking pellets for survival for the most part .
@@siddharthrm6385 so they mainly wont eat algae like amano shrimp or cherry shrimp ?
Every year at my son’s High School the senior class gets together and gifts the school with something. My son’s senior class decided to go out with a bang and gift a 125 gallon aquarium set up to the special needs children’s building. Of course my son being him, said hey my mom is great at setting up planted aquariums, so I have been asked to set it up, scape and plant it. I really don’t think they realize just how expensive it can be for a planted aquarium. Any suggestions on how to do an amazing scape on a budget?
nice to see a non-standard aquarium with a low water level, love this. And CPO too)
Thanks for the nice video. These guys are next in line to be put in my tank. I currently have Cambarellus puer in a small tank - they are great dudes. A little smaller than Mexican and live peacefully with everybody. I highly recommend them.
Please do more videos about unusual inhabitants that can actually live perfectly in an aquascape.
Beautiful tank! Id love to see a planted axolotl tank next.
great to see you finally embracing my own little thing in the hobby I've got the blue dwarf crayfish and been breeding them for 3 years so far. Absolutely lovely creatures to have in your scape
The end result is very good for me, beautiful ...
CPO are great, but their biggest weakness is their need for a slightly colder water. They require the water has no more than 24 ˚C, 15 ˚C - 20 ˚C ideally. Last time I had a pair of them, I didn't realize the paludarium was heated to 25 ˚C by a tank underneath. Half a year later they were gone.
So an aquarium close to the floor, in a hall or a bedroom would be ideal.
Nice minimal build! (Bucephalandra can live fully emersed).
I really like this! Thank you so much for sharing something new and interesting. The tank looks pretty and your little Cray fish are very cute 😊
Балаш, поначалу, мне показалось, что будет скучно)) Но потом...Очень красиво, в тоже время все просто))
Very nice video as always. CPO's are such cool little critters, and they look great in this style of aquarium. Keep up the great work.
Nice 👍. Later by the passage of time nature will take its beautiful form.👌
Looks awesome Balazs! Impressive for ot only taking less than a hour! Cpo are very interesting! My kids would love a tank like that! Keep up the great content! Happy new year Green aqua family!
Bucephalandra work well outside the water from my experience.
Great stuff, as always. Green Aqua production quality is fantastic.
absolutely beautiful!
I wouldve used very small crushed lava rock instead of sand...all black. It wouldve matched the larger pieces of lava rock. Would Make the green plants AND the orange crayfish pop.
Love this species spotlight series. Would love more of these
you should all look into building a huge vampire crab scape! maybe get Dennerle to sponsor :)
LOL, Cody, maybe. Maybe.
Quality video as always👏👏👏👏👏
I love aquascape and have 3 tanks at home, but never have interest for shallow tank before watching Green Aqua.. now I'd like to saving some of money for build one.. great videos, great inspiring.. good job!
Thank you and the music was wonderful.
Beautiful small criatures, Nice set up, love this project
This is a great video. I am a new subscriber and I love your content. More like this please. I never new about these great crayfish. Bravo!
Looks lovely. I just saw these at April's Aquariums in Vancouver BC. Now I know what to plan on for a tank if I ever buy any. Thank you.
Thanks for the nice video!!
I've always wanted to keep these but haven't quite gotten around to making a tank for them. I still think Vampire Crabs are the most interesting critters around these days though.
Beautiful cpo tank...
I’ve never seen them before. They are beautiful!
Nice Orange ! 😊
nice as always
You should do a Vampire Crab tank
Nice! I had some feeder Crays when stationed in Hawaii. I thought they would eat plants too but they left all the stem plants alone. I fed them guppies and sinking wafers. Wrapped guppies in toilet paper and slammed them on the ground to kill them first. Man! 2005! That was a long time ago. 😅
Muito bom o vídeo! Adoro o canal de vocês !
I'm in love 🤩
I have over 10 000 literes of aquariums and over 200 species of plants and over 300 fish including real big ones and u guys inspired meto rebuild all of my tanks into scapes, now they are holland aquariums and ponds...
E' un inizio... Waiting for Tanganyika tank 😎
Vampire crab next please!!
Me encanta!
Amazing 👌👌👌😍
begitu Indah dan menyenangkan salam hangat dari indonesia
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤ set up as usual ..... 🎉🎉 can we add some fishes along with these crayfish ?
if they are anything like the blue yabbies "crayfish" in Australia they will crawl up ANYTHING ... including the glass lily pipes, etc ... basically you need a complete escape proof lid on the tank at all times...
A tip for dwarf crayfish tanks, if you use a lighter substrate, the crayfish will display less colors than if you were using a darker substrate. They feel safer with darker substrate. My dark blue dwarf crays turned light blue during the first few weeks in a sanded tank. I ended up switching it back to darker substrate to make them feel safer and display their brighter colors. Not sure how the orange crays will do.
Yes, my first aquarium was a bit of sand and a potted plant with the pot 😅. It was 35 years ago.
Если бы я завела себе сначала такой простой и милый аквариум с раками, у меня не было стресса 😂 и я стала бы отличным любителем 😂

3-CPO's and no R2D2 , love ur work.
😂👍Thanks for the support!
Make one on vampire shrimp
Nice but when is Tommy going to do a tank I miss his style of aquascaping
So weird how I get into something and then I see it pop up elsewhere. Like these bad bois. Been trying to find them
that crayfish will climb any exposed silicon in the joins good luck finding it if you dont have a lid hahahaha
Make a tank for an Axolotl!!!
Beautiful lay out, no filter? Thank you from NYC
I've had the same species of shrimp over 3 years and many many generations (orange rili) and they've grown to adapt to my crayfish. They are way too fast for my crayfish and almost never get caught. I tried introducing other shrimp too but they got eaten very fast by my crayifsh.
Wow
Great scape! but I’d be worried they can climb up the wood and get out.
Some Epiplatys annulatus should be a good fish to use with those dwarf crayfish, right?
hello i have a question. In many videos you can see that you use a skimmer, however, it is not a skimmer connected to the suction inlet, but a separate device. My question is which is better the one connected to the filter inlet or the one as a separate device?
Can you work in a geosessarma dennerle habitat? Pleaseee
What are you doing? 😏
Thx for the water parameters cpo breeders. ❤️
Which type of foil is used as the white background? Simple dc-fix white or is it milky glass foil with a white tint?
Had three of these before and they ate every plant in my tank
Cool video! I been meaning to ask you. Why 80% of filter bio media if you will only produce the amount of bacteria equal to your stock? And your always light stock.. thanks this been on my mind
Can CPO be in 10 feet community tank? With tetra, angelfish and discus? Will the fish kill CPO?
What are the temperature of water tank?
So jealous, all crawfish are all illegal in my country…
Won't these crayfish eat and attack plants?
Is this little dude will eat the plants leaves? Or it eat algae like cherry shrimps?
Arent they gonna chop up all the plants?
Nope, you can keep them with any plants.
i've seen similar animals being sold as "fortune lobsters". are they one and the same?
i was not sure about that 😊
also crayfish favour eating plants to meat so those plants are gunna have a fun time lol
CPOs will not hurt the plants 👍
@@GreenAquaShop you say that now but i haver not come across crayfish of any variety that doesnt love munching on live plants
I've heard somewhere that these eat live plants, any instances that they munch of some of ur plantsm
All shrimp will eat plants, but only the leaves that start decomposing, they are not attacking healthy leaves, at least that's what we observed.
@@GreenAquaShop I'll keep that in mind. I'll try adding them to my planted tank with other shrimps. Thank you! :D
I loved mine until one took the claws off the other. brutal.
Great tank but horrible-looking crayfish.
