Great interview with two legends! Loved the discussion on contest inequalities. It'd be rad to see some mixed gender "Jam" format contests. Maybe sort the results as described in the interview and then split the purses 50/50 for each placing. Hey, look-there's the name for the contest "50/50" :)
That Would be rad! Especially at the Olypics: sure there would be medals and that crap, but as Sk8boarders, we wouldn't really care! We'd just be ripping up a globally paid for sk8park! It would turn into an international sk8fest party! The only thing is getting bands there to play live. Someone find the agent/e-Mail/phone number for Metallica, the Whole NWA crew, cRad, and all the bands still alive and kicking from H-Streets Hokus Pokus video!

Great video. As a dude, I'd have no problem entering a contest and getting smoked by anyone who was doing radder tricks. Guy, girl, whatever. I would be completely stoked if a gay purple alien teleported from their planet to the contest and did a switch kickflip mctwist to noseblunt stall to triple inward heelflip out. You win, dude!
I guess I was really lucky because there was always at least one girl skating with the group I was a part of since I started riding a board. I never really thought about it until now. In high school the locals crew was myself, Carrie, Greg and Shaun. After high school Carrie got married really young and Greg and Shaun both got really into drugs and partying. I started skating with some different kids, and that crew was myself, Ben, Christine, Brett, Brian and the Dwyer twins. This girl Lisa skated with us for a while too, then she moved away to college. It was always normal to have at least one girl pile into my car, chip in gas money and eat greasy reubens or cheeseburgers at the diner at 3am every Friday and Saturday night.

People need to hear what's being said about separating the - genders - for contests. Why would we do what mainstream competitive sports do? No Rules In Skateboarding.
I was born in Naples 30 minutes south of ft Myers skating at the same time n all day every day for years n never once met or seen a female skater. At least through the 90s n early 2000s. Wassup Elissa, still the only girl skater name I even know.

contests are not skateboarding. Its status quo BS. Just skate.

They should have contests where men and women compete against each other or at least give people that option. Set it up like a regular session and whoever goes the biggest wins. There's women that go just as big and risky as men. There's a lot of up and coming LGBTQ skaters. When it comes to skating gender really doesn't matter too much. It doesn't make you "better" than someone else. It doesn't have to be all complicated with a bunch of dumb ass rules. Give people a half hour or whatever to do their thing.
I think there should be atleast a all gender contest in street atleast :) Woman could peobably not do as Good as men in Vert cause of Weight. They cant go as fast but otherwise i think as They say Its skateboarding!!!!
